I find X dumb in a lot of ways, but holding your breath for really long was just surreal enough for me to find it cool. It's just something you can do in this world that opens up new environments and interactions.
Yeah, I always just assumed it was like, A Thing
A trap is for fish: when you've got the fish, you can forget the trap. A snare is for rabbits: when you've got the rabbit, you can forget the snare. Words are for meaning: when you've got the meaning, you can forget the words.
if you can suplex a train you can hold your breath for a couple minutes

I'm pretty much right with Chincy when it comes to Bravely Default.
The only character I liked in that game was Edea. Ringabel was a creep, Tiz was boring, and Agnes was quite possible my most hated character in 2014. I hated her so much, so much.
And I tried to give the game a fair shake, I really did. I had 36 hours played when I shelved it. But in all that time none of the characters got any better (and Agnes got worse!) and I just didn't care anymore.

Yeah, like, this is a world where people can summon fireballs and giant monsters made out of souls.
The fact that people living on a planet that is, like, 90% water can hold their breath for half an hour seems relatively tame.
I just wish they had taken advantage of that and given you more underwater areas to explore.

The scenes around the Fire Crystal were a good turnaround moment for Agnes
