Thanks guys! I'll give it a run after Persona. Ooooh I just realized my brother in law just moved back to Arizona. He's got a PS3 he barely uses. I'll try and borrow that to play MGS4.
It ain't canon and it doesn't get a whole lot of love or recognition, but the Ac!d series on PSP was actually pretty fun.
But a turn-based, trading-card-battling Metal Gear game that came with a cardboard Solid Eye attachment for watching 3D is admittedly pretty obscure.

I don't understand exactly what this debate is about but I am happy to contribute this to it http://youtu.be/Nolq5EPpOcA
metal gear solid is a tactical espionage action simulator, you guys
And since we're talking PSP, Portable Ops was actually pretty important story-wise, which is a shame because the game was pretty awkward to play otherwise.
Peace Walker learned the lessons and simplified the controls to work with the limited PSP control scheme, but by then the story it needed to tell was basically done in Portable Ops, so they basically just stretched it as a lesser version 2.0 of the same plot/concept.
In a perfect world they would've just redone Portable Ops with the PW gameplay or something.

Ocelot wasn't possessed by Liquid's ghost (like I said, don't ask). He was only pretending to be to throw off the Patriots. The entire plan was designed from the start to manipulate Snake into doing exactly what he did. They were working together and Snake never even knew it, wow!

Metal Gear is p cool tho, peace walker was pretty great in terms of bite-sizedness while still being a TACTICAL ESPIONAGE ACTIONER
i really wish the AC!D games were on the PSN store
I never owned a PSP but they sound right up my alley
Metal Gear AC!D 2 is pretty much one of my favorite PSP games.
Like, I'm really weird about card games, I fucking love them and just the whole concept of card games. Even getting boosters and opening them and shit, I'm all about that.
And AC!D 2 gives me that. There's no DLC, no pay-real-money bullshit. You earn points and you buy boosters with points and it's like a fucking revelation that you can actually have a game without dumb bullshit put in by asshole publishers.
It hurts me that I can't play it anymore, because it's not available digitally and my PSP's analog is eternally fucked and I can't justify buying a new PSP because, well, I have a Vita and the PSP is still expensive for some reason! Unless you find some shady-looking one in a store marked used or whatever.
I keep hoping Konami just decides to fucking go for it at some point, just because. It's dumb and won't ever happen, but damnit, I want to believe.

MG2 really feels like a 2D demake of MGS.
It also cuts back on a lot of the bullshit from MG1.

I'm kind of a big deal in games so I always play on harder difficulties (especially in metal gear games)
So I had very little health and no rations going into that fight and the entire battle was a desperate struggle for survival
I remember dying at least 15-20 times
that was the first time I ever went into a gaming 'trance'
I was so focused on the game that I didn't even realize what I had done or how long it had taken me. I just did it.
That was a moment of my life I'll never forget. It was surreal.
I have to go to bed, someone take over the posting dumb stuff from MGS3 duties for me.

"You're not a snake, and I'm not an ocelot. We're men. With names."
I really should see if I can hunt down a copy of those because turn based and trading card games are both my jam. MGS is also my jam.
Perfect combo, basically.
i had the exact same experience
that RAY fight is amazing on higher difficulties
the way you have to constantly stick and move makes you feel so badass when you pull it off

This bit before the helicopter is a pain.
Also I have the HD collection for 2 and 3 on there. Going to try to play through all of them before the end of the year. I can even borrow 4.
Nah, Revengeance is perfectly enjoyable on its own. Only thing you'd miss out on is some of Raiden's backstory, but it's not essential.
Yeah I love revengeance and have only seen bits and pieces of the other games
Also Peace Walker is the best MG, sorry haters!
Exclamation points!
