So Contracts are pretty cool and an alternative to getting some gear at level 50. Coupled with the new daily area, everything is in a nice circle and can be done relatively quick. I really enjoy the changes made. The new thing is killing world bosses for pets, and doing dungeons for pets. PETS PETS PETS! Also it only took a few months,(played off and on) but I can finally do GA. I'm excited to get in there and be showered in loot, and mechanics @Artereis .
Tried out PvP due to the new contacts systems and rapidly confirmed that this is yet another MMO where I suck at PvP. My little esper with no pvp gear dies as soon as he sees an enemy (or before in the case of stalkers) while trying to contribute in his small way.
Rest of the patch seems pretty cool though I couldn't seem to get a group for the new adventure.
Finally did Genetic Archives this weekend. Wow, that place is chock full of mechanics and I love it. If this is just a taste of the mechanics for Datascape, I can't wait to try DS out. Fights are rewarding and not overbearingly difficult, and if you are a weaker link in the raid, like I was, having never been there or read anything, it showed. In general I think GA is pretty great, because it only makes me want to improve more with my engi.
It also makes me want to try out healing though because that actually seems like it's more fun then watch HP BARS MOVE UP, even though im sure that's part of it.

Healing is the best. The best. Artereis also knows this well.
It's actually, as you assume, significantly more complex that "watch bars move up and down." Just like in other games you're dealing with the mechanics, but also, depending on your class and role, you're doing a lot more than that as well. Triage is very important in wildstar since so many people are constantly taking damage.

Every time I see a new post in this thread, I always check to see if it's gone F2P or B2P yet, just so I can check it out again.
I gave the 10 day a spin and I liked what was added/changed. Stuff didn't look like a ghost town anymore. Malgrave Trail is still the cancer inside.
The more things change, the more they stay the same.

It's easily the worst adventure. It's no more difficult than the others but jesus it won't end. They also changed how things play out somewhat so that there is less of a "One path to rule them all" that people used to do. Which I think is kind of worse. Get that shit outta here.

Getting gold on malgrave is by a significant margin harder than gold on any of the other adventures.
Getting silver is pretty easy still though.

I think I'm coming from a place where I feel that people don't really like too much RNG in their MMOs outside of whatever loot systems and try to end run around that sort of nonsense as much as possible.

I was considering doing my 10 day trial and looking into it tonight but...
Even with the pvp fixes it sounds like it is not at all that active. I hear RBGs don't even happen, and while practice BGs pop fairly regularly during main hours of play, its usually the same people so when one side is the winner, they keep winning.
And Arenas are apparently pretty active for 3v3 but it sounds like Warriors suck now and thats my only 50.
So I am not sure I can do this thing till PVP is bustling. As sad as it is I can now play WoW for free with near no effort and the PVP is instantaneous queues. I can also do it entirely while leveling. That is hard to beat. And when I want to move on from that, GW2 PVP is MUCH more approachable, consistant, and I never have to worry about upkeep to play that.
Maybe I can throw down the 10 day thing anyway though? Just to say I did.
Medals in adventures were pretty much the biggest fucking mistake because it robbed everyone of the one hook of adventures in that they had multiple routes. Admittedly people would have eventually routed out the quickest paths and make those the norm every run, but at least you would have had options when running stuff with guildies.

To put those into more understandable numbers, that's ~2.35 million USD over a 3 month period, or 786,189 USD per month. In terms of subs, this puts the number between 39K subs($20 dollars per sub[CREDD]), 53K subs($15 per sub), and an absolute upper max of 79K subs(at $10 per sub). And that is assuming the numbers are pure sub revenue, account services and box sales actually lower those numbers. For clarity, these numbers do NOT include the recent box promotion, so any surge from that won't be seen in these numbers.
Since I built a new pc I tried out the trial. Wildstar ran great, but my inability to get all the lore and bits without other paths around really pinged my OCD :bigfrown:

There have been sources floating around about f2p for WS for a bit now. And its caused some kind of shitstorm on reddit? I dunno thats where I go to keep up with these things.
This earnings report seems like pretty hard proof this is a thing thats going to happen.
There's a supposedly anonymous Carbine rep talking about the studio and how there's a f2p plan that will go into effect around August. Grains of salt and all that, but he supposedly sent authentic enough proof to the mods to allow the thread.

Yeah that thread happened before the whole debacle banning them. I never saw a mod approval, and considering discussion of the whole scenario was told to stop completely I doubt the mods confirmed it.
The dude was full of hot air. The constant forced politeness was kind of a dead give away.
But still there have been rumors flying and the whole pulling the boxes off the shelves thing a bit ago and now this steam thing are making it sound like a strong reality.
If it does go F2P I wonder how people who might have purchased the game before hand might be treated?

The whole thing about buying extra copies of the box for some mount bullshit while people who already bought the game and are paying a sub got jack shit was hilarious. I'm actually kinda curious now how many of those people who bought in were new players vs Redditors doubling down on stupid.
And this is coming from a guy who bought GTA V twice so.

Just got done reading. And how some rabid mod/ex mod was deleting his posts while trying to get in contact with Carbine to out him? Shit's cray!

Yeah that mod apparently has a bad history which makes it even worse.
So many people waiting for scorchwing to spawn right now. 2 full raids on dominion side and who knows how many on exile.
People still do Scorchwing?
There's a "contract" system; basically daily mini-quests you do at level 50 to fill a bar to get rewards for the week. One of the contract types is do "event X", which killing world bosses are part of.
Actually something of a problem since you only get credit if you damage the boss and do at least 1% of it's HP in damage, which with the large groups that've been forming(since everyone wants to do their contract for the day), an no-one gets credit since it's killed in like 2 seconds with everyone doing .2% of it's HP in damage(all while getting 1 FPS since Wildstar continues to shit the bed with large groups of players).
Scorchwing not giving me credit is why I quit the game. That was my breaking point, and the fact they have more bullshit requiring you to kill him on a regular basis makes my decision feel oh so good.
Please keep failing in the most hilarious way possible, Wildstar. I don't think I've quite gotten my $60 of schadenfreude out of you.
World bosses *sound* like a good idea on paper, but I've yet to see an implementation that isn't "if anybody is doing them, at all, it's just a mess of people zerging the fuck out of some poor giant turtle/bird/mutant".
TOR, FFXIV (S/A rank hunts), CO, CoX......
All those at least managed to not bug the fuck out, and gave credit reliably, though.

Vanilla WOW handled world bosses pretty well, in that they required raid-type performance, but they were too easy for the opposing faction to roll in and wreck your fight.
Of current MMO's, I think that only GW2 does world bosses correctly, and that's mostly because there are so many of them.

Just going to leave this here without comment.
Crazy enough I'd want to look at how their pricing structure works in Korea, because there is no way it's equivalent given those numbers.
Edit: Also, given those numbers they may have already passed the point where going F2P would even make a difference. Ouch.
Good news for GW2, tho.
It's mostly on the back of Lineage/Lineage 2, which are very popular in Korea.
Dun dun dun...
