So I remember there was some mega-server combination at some point. Does that mean everyone gets to play with everyone? I don't even remember the server we all rolled on initially.
Yeah, unless it's changed there should now only be two mega servers: pve and an open pvp.

Yeah umm, thats why I was asking an answerable question. Not where people want to go. Where the people already THERE are. I know its like, 2 people currently still regularly playing but I wanted to know where they were playing then.

I'll probably be playing on or around the 29th with the f2p launch on Exiles.
Some friends of mine are going to come back to the game and aske me if I'd join them. Which I want to, as the changes are something I'd like to see and the price is right.

If people are all going to be restarting exiles might be what I do then. I guess that is a good course of action because that way I am covered on either side anyway, and my 50 warrior really doesn't need any work for what I would be doing anyway.
What.. happened to all the OP crafted gear that was previously made? I think I remember them saying it wouldn't be changed, but I am going to assume it was indirectly nerfed somehow.

I'd hope that the stat changes made both before and during the f2p conversion make it so the crafted gear with just main damage stat are no longer the optimal option.
But someone who has been playing the game recently would have to confirm if that is in fact the case.
The PvP servers died off long ago. If you are looking for other people to play with currently, you are stuck with the PvE server for your area. Exiles still outnumber Dominion by a fair margin, but you can still run content on either side. Once F2P launches things may change if there's a large enough influx of players, but my gut is saying to recommend the PvE servers until things stabilize and we see if the game will recover or not. Carbine's F2P launch date basically gives them one month to win players over before the competition starts up. If Wildstar does anything other than amaze that first month, we'll start losing out to GW2 and SWTOR expansions, Fallout 4, and the umpteen other AAA titles that launch for the holidays.
Crafting is being completely overhauled, your existing crafted gear will be replaced with tokens to recreate a similar item. It's a little more bad than good since you'll want to find someone that's actually a crafter and preferably with a sub for higher crafting bonus's to recreate the item. Crafting looks like it has the potential to be like it was at launch with several pieces being BIS since itemization is still really really bad. It's too easy for many classes to hit the caps on certain secondary stats with skills and amps, so crafted gear may have the ability to mitigate those issues, especially with the new crafting trees looking like you'll be able to craft raid level gear.
The danger from computers is not that they will become as smart as man, but that we will agree to meet them halfway.
Computers are a lot like air conditioners - they both work great until you open windows.
They've already announced that there will be no free server transfers after F2P is launched, which effectively means the PvP server is dead for good. No currently existing guild is going to transfer over to the PvP server with it's currently dead player count in advance, and very few new/returning players are going to start on a server without any players. Server Transfers are going to cost 20 per character after F2P, so no-one will transfer after F2P.
Exile vs Dominion is a matter of preference, though Exiles outnumber the Dominion by something like 2 to 1.

Let's be more blunt.
Who here is currently playing, and what side are you on?
Who here is currently playing, and what side are you on?
Esper over on the dominion side here though I do have a 50 on Exile as well. My Esper is my main and has a majority of my playtime though I do like the exile faction more.
There aren't enough currently active PA members to base any new decisions around. Rend and I are in the same guild, but that was completely by accident. We were in the guild for months before we realized we both posted here.

it would be nice to have some sort of a base.
Like if 3 of you are dominion, it is a good idea to start dom to have at least someone you know in game.
Lucky for me, I can be dom just by logging on. And if lots of new people play exile ill start new there. But I just wanted to know
I didn't hit level cap during trial + free month but I play PvE Exile and will for sure continue to do that when f2p launches, along with a couple family members.
Warplots have had periodic stretches of activity. Guilds on each side would organize warplot nights, but that kind of fell by the wayside due to upkeep costs. I'm not sure if those have been adjusted yet.
I have to admit, it was pretty funny watching people spend more time with those spreadsheets than they ever spent in the game itself.
This is actually the nature of PA mmo life. Most often we ride the thread hype train longer than we actually play the games. I'm somewhat suspicious that we all might be secretly unfulfilled social planners who are switching games constantly to feed the need by planning launch day parties.
What is this I don't even.

Well, if there is one thing WS did that blows away the competition its housing.
I wasn't aware this would ever even be remotely a thing, but someone made a soccer game out of a housing plot and an addon code that moves an object around based on player skills.
I'm really enjoying messing around in the beta. I like a lot of these changes, though I really hope they get some of these bugs worked out before the end of Sept. The quest tracker being bugged is annoying, especially when trying to do path quests.

Well, I got in to the closed beta. Been wanting to try things out. Was almost certainly going to try the F2P edition when it released. I hear tell that the closed beta characters will just roll on over in to the live game so not much reason for me to not playing around a bit.
edit- Maybe not?

oh really? If that's the case, I will for sure start playing now.
It is highly unlikely that any characters on the test server will be pushed to live. If you want to play a character now that is permanent, spend $10 and get a box.

I am hearing many things.
edit- They said there would be a character wipe at the end of Phase One of testing (which would be the only wipe), as I understand it, has happened already. You can also spend real, actual money on stuff in the PTR. Which, if characters don't roll over then I hope they have a pretty damn good plan to recoup people.

I have had a box since launch, I just have no desire to play a sub. I'll wait a few more weeks. It will take me at LEAST that long to decide on a character, anyway =p
Axen - yeah that would be a huge bummer if they wiped your real bought stuff!

Well, got a beta code today, attached it to my old account, went to log in and whoops I had an authenticator on it. The phone with that app is long gone. Guess I can't fiddle around tonight.

So the way this works is that your characters WILL NOT transfer to f2p live at the end of beta. If you buy NCoins they'll be added to your main account (and you can spend them right now on other games, or wait for Wildstar f2p) and an equivalent amount will go to your PTR characters. Any purchases on the PTR will only come from that pool so your REAL NCoins will stay. This also means anything you purchase on the PTR won't transfer so luck based things you get to retry.

I had a feeling that is what they'd do. Which, in truth, is perfectly acceptable.
Been playing a bit, kinda trying out various classes. Liking what I see so far. Though, man, that quest tracker being bugged is annoying.
You've no idea how giddy I was to roll an Esper and then never having to stop moving!
And that built in mouse-look is sweet. Makes the game feel much more like a third-person action game.
Still no God damn tooltips on the "Stuff you unlocked on level up" thingy that pops up. Seriously, like, that shit needs to get added yesterday. "Here's a list of all the shit you unlocked with your level up! What does it all mean? Fuck you, that's what!"
Come F2P launch I'll probably go Dominion. I've a thing about always wanting to play the least played thingies. If my experience with Wildstar at launch and my current experience on the PTR are any indication, the Dominion is going to be outnumbered pretty heavily.
edit- Oh and Exile music remains the best music.

They really just need to let everyone play together in instances.
Their next big patch really should be about the Strain becoming a threat that demands the cooperation of both groups. Then pull a Rift and simply invent two factions for PvP purposes.
Received my beta key today, downloading as we speak. I hope the game is improved, I would much like to start playing when F2P hits.
I played a fair bit last night. Tried out various classes starting with Epser since it was my fav, though aggravating, class to play. Spoilers: it is SO MUCH FUN NOW!
Everything I've experienced has been pretty aces. If this was the version of Wildstar that launched last year, well, I don't think Carbine would be in this spot. In fact, I think they'd be sitting on a couch made of money and probably gearing up for an expansion.
Long story short, I think F2P Wildstar is going to do quite well for itself.
edit- With the caveat that they need to have a pretty serious marketing campaign to let people know that F2P Wildstar is not the same thing as "Fastest Sinking MMO At Launch" Wildstar.

I look at the production value involved and stuff and see why NCsoft is willing to give the game a chance. The game had and has an amazing shell and it would really be a shame for it to just fade away.
You think dominion will be the lease played, Axen? that surprises me. I mean, I know 'evil' tends to be less played in MMOs from what I've seen, but all the races on Dominion (besides boring humans) are SO awesome, where as most of the Exile races are terrible (imo of course).
I was hoping most would go Dominion because I totally want to play a Draken.
Also normally I'm a ranged sort of person. Previous I played Engineer, Espier, Spellslinger, Medic...all fun. But I might actually play a Warrior or Stalker just to mix it up a bit. Warrior's attire is just so cool looking.

The closest thing to AV are the 40v40 warplots, which to this day nobody has seen.
I saw about 2 videos of them being played back in beta

She apparently also did a racng mod that opens and closes a gate and can know and announce when anyone crosses the finish line.
Carbine could have just made a housing online simulator and likely been a lot more successful.
