There are 5 man dungeons and adventures, along with solo content like veteran shiphands, and contracts which are basically dailies but with neat rewards for doing dugeons, shiphands, and adventures. Typically you can find a group pugging the first raid, Genetic Archives. It's pretty dang fun when it comes down to it.
What's the playerbase size atm/how bads the grind?
Pretty small (or they probably wouldn't be going F2P) but everyone is on the same server so it always looks busy. I'd say that ~20 people hanging around the dominion capital city is average during non-prime time and you get 80+ for scourchwing when it's the daily contract so judge from that what you will.
The grind is mainly in the leveling process. The questing from 1 to 50 is fun but there's no real way to power level through it. It took me roughly 2 weeks at launch to hit 50 playing regularly but I know people who did it faster. After you hit 50, there's some rep grinds that are on the grindy side but they aren't mandatory as they don't have much at the max rep beyond amp points. There is something called elder gems that you start getting at 50 which replace XP and are used for random items and, more importantly, starting your raid attunement. It usually takes me 2 evenings to max out on my week's elder gems and you'll need at least a week's worth to start the attunement questline. If you're already attuned or running dungeons, you don't care about elder gems but I wanted all the attachments for my hoverboard so I'm still trying to max them out when I log on.
Having maxed out a few characters, it took me about 24 hours game time just doing mainly the story quests to get to max It's changed alot since launch and is easier now since launch.
Ok, one last set of questions for now, can someone give me a bit of a lowdown on the quality of the raid content/how the classes play(are there ones that are considered awful/OP etc.)
Thanks.

Having just finished it, I'm still of the opinion that Wildstar's raiding is the best out there. It's technically challenging, little room for carries and is immensely satisfying when you pull of a win. All of the classes are wanted for various reasons. Balance is changing pretty big with F2P coming, though, so a lot of that is currently in flux.
They're redoing their entire stat system to better streamline progression. Part of this is a massive overhaul in player and NPC stat ratings. Healing is changing in due to this, as well as tank durability. DPS is actually going to be the least affected by this. Healers and tanks are going to have to relearn how to play.

Had a super-fun world boss killing spree today to wrap up my Genetic Archives attunement before they nerf it. Pretty fun world tour - went everywhere from Celestion to Farside to Auroria. Wrapped it up with a takedown of Metal Maw Prime. Hadn't done many of those bosses before.
I've heard that world bosses will be changing in the future - for one thing they can be spawned by players turning in item drops, similar to how the Hellrose Bowl event is activated. I hope they put in more contracts to track down and kill these world-bosses, like Scorchwing's contract, it'd be fun to have more excuses to go and kill these things.
I look forward to making a british-accented dominion pigfucker named Hameron.
If it isn't already taken.

I think the only sad thing about the f2p movement is that I'm going to see the people in the capital less. It's so cozy, its like being in an IRC room.
We’re aware that there are some people experiencing issues with their beta keys expiring. Upon further investigation we’ve decided to remove the need for them altogether, and declaring WildStar’s free-to-play beta, Open.

I imagine you'll still need to create an account, though.
So is that for *everyone* everyone, or still just current subs?
Because I'm playing SOMA right now and I don't want to stop to install WS unless I can play it right now
It's for everyone. But keep in mind the patch goes live in less than a week and you'll have to install the live client at that point plus your characters won't transfer over. So unless you're really itching to try it right now you might be better off waiting.
Are there any perks for being a beta tester? Will I get any titles, toys, pets, etc.?
Participants for Closed Beta will receive a cool new title, Freelancer, for their characters on Live after we launch WildStar Free-to-Play. In order to qualify, you must have logged into the CLOSED BETA realm during WildStar Free-to-Play closed beta and have then logged into a live realm during the month of launch. The title will be granted after the live login deadline!
I don't know if they've changed that for "open" beta but I would imagine if you've logged into the PTR and play after launch you'll get that title too, yes.
So from earlier on in this thread it sounds like the few people who have been playing are dominion, so I'll probably be running around dom side myself. I have a 50 exile, though, but honestly I'm not too anxious to try and figure out where I should pick up on him. It's also really depressing logging in on him and looking at the guild roster.
Anyway, do the other people dom side have a circle going? I imagine we're going to see more than a couple people return/check out the game so it'd be nice to have that going.

So if people are going to at least be playing Dom side, I will just dust off my warrior and join up with that.
I plan to be on when the servers come back up. I'm actually pretty excited for this, most of the changes coming in this patch are a huge improvement. I'm also hoping they're treating it as kind of a fresh start and they don't slip back into old patterns. We'll see if this whole switch works out.
If someone wants to make a circle that'd be great. I'd make it but I'm not creative enough with names. Alternatively, if someone suggests a good name I can still make it. No polls though.
How is the pvp on W*? I'm trying to get a few friends to play with me (and my limited pve experience), but they'll only play if the pvp is good. Is there a good pvp primer somewhere that I can direct them to to see if they'd be interested?
