I fucking love going to a duel between 2 captains in an arena in the middle of a stronghold, waiting till one is close to death, and swooping down from the rafters to finish him off as well as the other captain and every orc in the room until the alarm sounds.

How long is the campaign in this? I'm trying to convince myself I don't need another game right now...
Probably less than 10-12 hours of pure story content, but the story content is absolutely not the focus of this game. It's the open world with the dynamic AI. You will spend more time creating your own story in this than you will worrying about the (relatively flimsy) narrative.
It plays terrible right? Like just so awful you struggle with the controls and you're like "Let me murder guys game?"
Are you wanting me to tell you it plays terribly so you won't buy it? Then yes, it plays terrible.
It actually plays incredibly fluid. The traversal is a lot more fluid than Assassin's Creed. Talion tends to go where I want him to go, and I can make it across the map with relative ease. I have yet to lose a fight, or die, because I felt the game or controls cheated me.

I actually think the traversal is more fluid in AC, but it's minor. The story is getting better as I go on, just hit the halfway point.

Fuck it I guess I'm playing two games... WEAKNESS!!!
I would like some money because these are artisanal nuggets of wisdom philistine.

Buy it from GMG, use the voucher code on the front page. @Preacher
Is there a trick to the dodge move? I have no trouble weaving through crowds of orcs if they just hit me with swords, but if one of those shield gooses turn up I can't seem to time the dodge - they hit me like 50% of the time before Talion thinks he should get out of the way.
It's so fluid it kind of feels like a dancing game... I would like to see a Tenchu game use this combat/sneak system.
The system used by this genre of games is pretty much a rhythm game without the music sync (...which is why a few people get frustrated with it if they're used to hit confirm combo games / spectacle fighters), with enemies providing the 'beat' that you tap along to,
The only thing that puts me off of it is how it handles enemies with ranged attacks, because this element seems really perpendicular to what the system wants to do.
Except when they hurl something like the previously linked article onto their website.
One tone-deaf article does not invalidate their otherwise great output.
The problem is their repeated history of tone death articles every month
You guys keep saying this, but other than the initial article, I'm not seeing anything to back it up. Meanwhile, Stormwatcher mentioned a handful of excellent articles and features.
But again, this isn't the "Polygon sux" thread. I'm done here.
Just in case anyone is wondering if their below requirements PC can play this I just ran the benchmark on my Athlon II X3 2.7Ghz with a HD 6670 and got 40FPS average. Granted everything was on low/off, but it runs!

@kaliyama I avenged you from Skorg Beastmaster. Skorg or Skarg. not really noticable. I ran straight at him, dusted through the middle of his entourage and stabbed him in his pig-face about 5 times for a stealth finisher. Then as I tried to get his rune, about 20 of his peeps showed up and I had to fight those guys... Lost some rhythm and ended up near death, managed to pull off the death reversal by catching a javelin and pig sticking the thrower because he was like 5 feet from me when he threw it. Proceeded to do The Butcher's Work.
I am not Banished from Death, He simply didn't come to take me because I would kill him too.

He is near.
After days of cat and mouse, tit for tat and death for death, our time together was about to come to an end. He'd ambush me, I'd fight him off. I'd scar him, he'd come back, marked by my violence. I'd come with beasts in tow, he'd run and escape under the cover of his minions. 9 times we'd clashed, and while my marks on him are many and prominent, he'd sent me back onto oblivion's sweet embrace several times
But not this time. His last insult, a poisoned arrow from afar while I duelled with another captain, was the final straw.
I knew where he was, so I drew him to me using foul arts. We'd need privacy for this: the end of our vicious game. When I struck, he was alone and unawares. This was never to be an honorable duel.
I flew at him with an unrelenting flurry of strikes, preventing him from summoning his minions. His arrows never flew, there was no time. I slashed at him, wore him down, brought him to the end of his strength until finally, as a curse rode his final breath from his rotted and cleaved lips, I hefted my steel for the final blow.
"You and me, Zugog?" I spat at his hunched form. "We are done-ion rings!" With a mighty stroke, my blade Urfael sang the note which ended our danse macabre.
Thus ends the tale of Zugog the Tracker. Born an uruk, trained as an archer, rampaged as a captain, and died as a headless corpse left to feed the Caragors and Morgul flies.
My victory is hollow and short-lived. Mordor is foul with Sauron's putrid horde, and this Warchief is not going to kill himself. I sheathed Urfael and The Gravewalker's grim mission continued.
Edited to include my actual spoken out-loud one-liner.
Starting as a lowly hunter before quickly rising in the ranks after numerous lucky kills of the Grave-Walker. Topping out his career as bodyguard to numerous body guards. Always proving to be a thorn in Talions side. Never able to address the weakness of his sight enabling Talion time and time again to sneak up and slay him.
Or so he thought. Time and time again Talion cast down Shaka's lifeless corpse: another victim on his path to the warchief. But something burned within Shaka that kept his body moving despite the grievous wounds. The dark malevolence keeping him alive. His and all other warlord fell in Udun and the Grave-walker moved on leaving the sucking wound behind him to fester.
Yet upon his return and subsequent slaughter of captain after captain. Countless Warchiefs lay slain the Grave Walker finally drew out the last of the new generation of Warchiefs. As the drums sounded his arrival, the chest thumping and chanting as he marched into his stronghold to face the Grave-Walker. Followed by the animate corpse of Shaka once more. Drawn into service and driven by the same dark malevolence.
It had been a while yet Talion remembered the bandaged face of Shaka, and drew his blade as he crept into the shadows once more to face him.
I've killed this guy at least four times. And i went back to the starting area to grind epic runes. Drawing out the last warchief I see trailing him this guy who's died many many times but refuses to let it stick.
Damn, achievements and stuff wasn't unlocking for me. Apparently it's because FRAPS was running? That's new. Also sucks! I don't really want to start over.
I feel like after finally getting some patience in picking off every orc near a tough war chief the game got a lot easier; captains and such are comically weak when alone. I dealt with at least two simply by draining them repeatedly and they didn't even get close.
loved every moment of it except the very end which was cool but...felt incredibly rushed especially in the gameplay.
I'm really hoping we see more of this it's close to my dream game which is pretty much a third person action/strategy game. Which no one has really done.
Loved pitting my warchief with 4 bodyguards against another likewise guarded...sure I could of gone around turning his guards, but it wouldn't of made for as epic a battle.
I just started playing for the night, and forgot you have to hold down the bumper in order to drain/interrogate.
That made me accidentally discover that throwing orcs off of really tall cliffs is a really efficient method of murder! Will have to try that with a captain sometime.
God I fucking love this game.

Spent like 2 hours trying to do the first story mission. Captain with a xbow hanging near the area capped me like 5 times.

I already bought the game on Steam, and GMG didn't have anything posted. I don't understand.
When GMG asked you for a voucher in the checkout process, you were supposed to type in ' OCTOBE-R25OFF-GMGXXX '.
It's alright, though. The rest of us are probably now bound to the power of the One Voucher, doomed to serve it for all eternity.
I was too busy having Mono and lacked the cognition to find and follow the instructions.

Definitely satisfying!
Wonder if you can wipe out the entire Orc power structure...
Yes.
You can in one area completely wipe out every captain and warlord.

I've probably killed ~100 captains so far
Ain't nobody got time for that. Especially the ones where its like "Rawr, I'm gonna gut you blah blah" 10 seconds later DEAD.

Throwing orcs off anything is pretty effective.
