You know, even though they didn't win the whole thing I think this has been my favorite season of Auburn football yet. Just an incredible turnaround from last year.

Bama must've had a stomach thing this season cause they took their dump a couple games too early

the playoffs are going to be hilarious though, as now Bama can make their 1-2 allotted mistakes per season and still grind everyone else to dust in the postseason

The thing is, it's hard to be king. You get that target on your back and err body gives YOU their A game.

The chance to muff one while the rank 6 munches on subpar teams and gets to 1 at the last second and have your team still have a chance despite the muff is great.

Plus! Plus! Your men can fookin HEAL. And when you are down to third string TE that makes a difference.

So what did people think of the Film Room version on ESPNNews (if you watched it)? I thought it was really great, but next time they need to keep Millen far away from it.

The coaches had some legitimately interesting things to say (Sumlin was the star though) and it was nice to get a broadcast that wasn't talking down to me about the football part of the football game.

I don't have ESPNNews, though they people I read on Twitter were saying that Sumlin and Spielman were far and away the best parts? The latter doesn't surprise me, as he's my favorite color guy despite his OSU homer tendencies.

That he was a long time Lion helps.

Self-righteousness is incompatible with coalition building.

It was really good for the most part. I was waiting for one of the coaches to make a crack about Millen drafting WRs in the first round. And yeah, Sumlin was amazing on it. Dude was literally breaking down plays as they were happening. Paul Chryst could have been better, but none of the coaches were really bad.

Best moment was when all of the coaches called the fake punt before the play happened.

Spielman was pretty good, too. It helped that he was the only Defense-first voice in the room (well, if you want to call what Addazio does "offense", anyway).

The original lineup had Charlie Strong instead of Chryst, and I think that would have been an even stronger broadcast team. Not to mention one of the more racially diverse non-NBA shows that ESPN puts on.

I wish they had brought in a few non-ACC guys. Like I understand why they went with those guys, but imagine Bob Stoops going to town making fun of both teams.

Yeah. Chryst really felt like the last-minute addition that he was, but we'll never know who else they asked to be on there.

I think the nearest official was in front of the runner and thus couldn't see the defender's hand grabbing the collar.

The guy running up the sideline had a clear view, but I'm not sure how they're told to handle those calls.

Alabama had nothing to play for. It's why I hate the bowl games.

hahahahaha... come on, man, isn't that the go to excuse for a bowl loss by an sec team not in the ncg

Em, I won't go into it in detail. They had zero desire to go to the game and had to try and invent reasons to care.

Didn't see this earlier. MSU had absolutely nothing to play for when they went up against Ohio State for the final game of the season. After winning they went to the Rose Bowl because they had a loss earlier in the year to Notre Dame. If they lost, they still went to the Rose Bowl because Ohio State would have been undefeated and gone to the BCS championship game. But they played their best game of the season and won handily because beating Ohio State means something even if you can't be named #1.

So if Alabama isn't mortal and only loses because they're poorly motivated than why weren't they motivated to win against Auburn and then is Saban a bad coach that can't motivate his team now?

MSU was playing for a conference championship.

That is a huge deal. It had no impact on their postseason destination, but it is certainly not nothing.

Just gonna post and say I agree with these two above me. There is an inherent difference between playing for a conference championship and playing for a bowl win.
