Had a full sim combined arms match in Eastern Europe in the middle of a rainstorm. The atmosphere of it was just so damn epic. Of course, the aircraft couldn't do shit because of was so overcast, but you'd occasionally see them swoop down out of the clouds right above you
Got one of my 2nd molars pulled on friday. This was the second time I've been put under (first time was for two impacted wisdom teeth), and while the first time I was under was like "Count back from 3-- And the proceedure is done, come with us to post op", this time around I had a small 10-15 second dream of 2 people arguing over planes in War Thunder.
I'm currently working on upgrading my Typhoon Mk 1b, because I hear its semi broken in RB. I guess being drugged out of my mind has rekindled my interest in WT a bit.
Well you never know, I killed a phanter after I hit the tree 2m to his side with a 152mm HE shell..

I'm not quite into sim battles as I'm crap in the air atm. However, I am running in realistic battles quite a bit. Will probably be on at night most this weekend.
Having a three man group in the Sim Battle was lots of fun last night
Yeah, except for me being really terrible and having no way to adjust my point of view in the airplane meant that I was basically free target practice for any enemy fighter in the air.
Luckily, there just weren't that many of them.
I did manage a sim landing without any gauges, though!
I managed to get my first sim air to air kill yesterday.
It was in the sim combined arms event (the only reason I was in a plane in sim). Shot down a JU-87 in my SBD.

Seriously though, that plane does seem pretty absurd, but look at the two planes before it. It's a tree made out of progressively more insane levels of ridiculousness.

I managed one really nice battle in a PzIV C in that
and one not quite as nice one in a M3A1, which after running out of tanks had me sitting on the runway in sim mode with no joystick and no idea what to do
I made 3 unsuccessful attempts to take off without crashing into anything
fuck gendered marketing

My standard "lousy mood, must club seals" setup involves one of one of the early I-16s with rockets and a couple rounds of bomber hunting. Considering how many PBYs and H6Ks there are at that tier, it can be really satisfying.
I usually hang out in Tier 3 with two Mitchells when I get in that mood. They start at bomber height and I put a minimal bomb load on them to get everything I can out of those planes. Six nose mounted .50 cals are hilaaaaariously good at starting fires and sawing off parts of bombers and if you aim high you can knock out pilots from a long way away so dumb fighters trying to head on you can be easy prey. The cannon Corsair also lives in that tier so it's just quality assholery all round. Low tier Russia is also an amazing choice for top level dickery.

I get a huge kick out of fighters getting jumped by Mitchells around that level (especially when they bring the gift of AB physics and actually stick in a dogfight with other planes).
One of my favourite AB matches awhile back involved all the aircraft basically inverting their roles - for most of the match the bombers were dogfighting and hunting down fighters, which were all down on the deck trying to kill the ground targets before they got sawn in half by a Mitchell or gunshipped by a Yer-2.
Two twin 40-mm cannons based on the M41 "Walker Bulldog" light tank. This anti-air vehicle has a good high speed, which allows it to quickly change its position on the battlefield. The M42 Duster was built in notable quantities, so it couldn’t not appear in the game.
Saturday's Realistic Event was a bit disappointing after how much fun Friday's was.
The only low-tier US vehicle allowed was the 2x50-cal MGMC M-... 15? ... and everything else was a medium or heavy tank
It kinda sucked spawning in with something that, essentially, couldn't damage any of the enemy vehicles that you'd run into (you might be able to catch an enemy SPAA in the open, I guess). You weren't allocated enough points at the beginning of the match to spawn into an airplane, and with the M-15 you weren't going to be earning enough to spawn a second time in anything.
I played a couple of rounds and then called it quite.
It was kind of infuriating that they wanted you to kill 10 things with attackers but then half of the attackers don't seem to actually count as attackers. Plus it seemed to be a bit nebulous about whether it as AI or player vehicles. The Ju 87 D-5 is marked as an attacker, but apparently doesn't count (since I destroyed more than 10 AI vehicles in one game and got nothing). And blowing SPAA apart with the Ju 87 G variants (which is incredibly difficult in the SPAA vs bomber game) didn't seem to count either.

You can get that achievement with the Su-2 and the BB-1 in the Russian line. Both of which are marked as bombers.

It feels so good
The F-82 also happens to be the next plane on my unlock list and then I'll have one plane left in tier 4, the F7F. Tier 4 US is just so much fun.
Yes.
This reaction pleases me.
Hitting a bomber is funny. Hitting a fighter with a rocket is mind shatteringly amusing.

I much prefer sim ground for that reason too.
the damage models aren't all that different and the commander's cupola view is not much more restricting than 3rd person

I dunno. Something is weird about it.
(Sooooo not arguing; was looking forward to that being flyable again and will now get to be part of said spam.)
