Let me assure you, the translation is correct. Their post is insane and I don't what possessed them to post it, but the video clip kinda proves that they knew what they were saying when they said it. Obviously we should all receive apology golden eagles.

I picked up the game again a few weeks ago. I've been working at spading my German 6.7 lineup. I spaded my king tiger 105 a week or so ago. Probably what I like most about it is that its turret is less prone to ammo explosions than the normal king tiger. The biggest quality of life improvement for german teams has easily been the addition of the M41. Turns out that german teams weren't getting flanked because they were tunnel visioning due to tiger syndrome affliction, but because the german tech tree had a bad case of only having 45+ ton beasts while all of the light tanks in that ballpark were either rare event vehicles or expensive premiums.

I'm also trying to work down the Itallian tech tree to Italy 8.0. I've been using the AUBL HVG from last summer and not much else on my lineup for now. Despite my crew being so low level that I can't even pay the SL crew tax, the vehicle performs very well. You've just gotta watch out since no-armor isn't best armor and you die to rifle caliber mgs.

So as someone who played years ago and was able to get some american jets, some early ish tanks from US/Germany/ussr, and about some late to mid WW2 for USSR and Germany, how punishingly brutal would it be to try and get to modern equipment?

Like, the grind for Korean war jets was ABSOLUTELY INSANE. And they pushed the timeline out more!?

Just wait until you look at the grind for boats.

i think.. planes are the easiest grind are they not? I never found planes to be particularly onerous.

Tanks are pretty awful, and boats are just... boats are a meme, nobody can convince me otherwise.

But really the worst thing about it is that the grinds get harder as you go down the tree...... but also the gameplay gets worse too. Every time I get back into WT I go through the progression... grinding into T4/T5... realizing T3/T4 gameplay is fucking stupid, go back to T1/T2, get bored, leave

Last time I played they were letting those little italian AA cars 1-shot shermans and I was like "okay then guess im not playing Tank RB"

funny how it's always the Axis that gets the super fucked up imbalanced vehicles with BR's 1.7 points lower than they should be

The allies have their own share of busted shit and if anything they've been the most advantaged for about a year or so at middle tier brs. The American 5.3 lineup was enjoying 70-80% win rates before it was finally nerfed last month.

*smug* that must be because all the Axis 5.3 vehicles are stuck getting matched into 3.7 games *smug*

you must be referring to tank...

my experience in Air is that axis has utterly and totally dominated 3.0-5.7 forever.... right around 6 the Americans get a plane capable of climbing and it is almost okay again. It's not that the allies don't have planes... the spitfire is insane. it's that there are always ride-or-die american pilots who are content to whelp corsairs into BF-109's week after week after week, so every Air RB is really 5 allies vs 12 axis, because you just immediately discount the americans and the bombers

    I've never gotten a tank above 5.0 so I can't really comment on 5.3+

I don't know what the win rates are for tank RB 3-4.x but I'm not saying that it's a stomp, but in my opinion pound for pound the Axis gets way more difference making vehicles, and if they can't 50% out of that then they just suck. The low-tier Italian tanks I've played are INSANE for their BRs.

The assumption in the game is that once you're past tier 3 in aircraft, tier 2 in tanks, or are playing boats at all, you're not going to get anywhere without a squad of friends using premium accounts.

There's a reason I tend to hang around early-war prop planes. This is a wee bit frustrating, because the Saab Draken is the single coolest looking jet of the era the game covers but is stuck at 10.3 in a tree I haven't started going down yet...

all the jet gameplay I've seen in WT looks terrible so I am never bent out of shape about it

my personal happy zone is Air or tank RB 2.x

I think 2.x is by far the most balanced and consistently fun division in RB, but I'm a dirty ally and stipulate that Ally is pretty strong in the air at 2.x

I was refering to tanks. My understanding is that RB air's meta is unkind to America's planes prior to the beast that is the p51 H. I don't touch RB air with a 12 foot pole because it's garbage to play with friends since the lack of respawns means that an early death leaves a friend twiddling his thumbs forever. RB enduring confrontation is a different matter entirely, but you can't pay me enough to play normal RB air.

On the ground, Germany's premium/event vehicle lineup between br 3.0 to 4.0 is busted. However the tech tree vehicles within that range are in line with everyone else. America is still a solid contender since they have single plane stabilizers in their Shermans that are huge boons since most of the maps favor the closer range city fighting that the stabilizer equipped Sherman excels at rather than the hull down sniping that the pz IVs prefer.

But America is the uncontested God-king of the 5.0-6.0 range with the Jumbo Sherman being arguably the most well positioned heavy tank in the game, the hellcat being peerless in the rapid flanker role, and the p-47 excelling at CAS and securing the skies. Britain takes the leading roll in the 6.7 to 7.7 range since they enjoy a monopoly on the paradigm shifting two plane stabilizers at 6.7 while most nations don't get such stabilization until 8.7.

Prior to the br changes last month, the win rates from thunder skill for the better part of the last year showed Germany/Italy struggling with win rates at 5.0-7.0 sitting between 30-40%, while america/Britain were sitting pretty in the 70ish range.

IMO the two of the biggest factors were matchmaker biasing and the distribution of light tanks+CAS.

What I mean by matchmaker bias is that most nations are "floating" and can be matched up with anyone else. However "America/Britain" and "Germany/Italy" are tied together at the hip and may not be allied with the opposing pair for any reason. America and Britain are both mature tech trees with fully fledged lineup's at most brs. Since the matchmaker is biased to pair USA/Britain together, it is effect biased to pair them up with teammates who sport full lineups. Italy however has an extremely anemic tech tree with maybe one or two stand out vehicles that perform well at a given br with next to nothing to flesh out the lineup with. Consequently Italian teammates are prone to being knocked out of the battle early due to incomplete lineups and leaving their teammates outnumbered. Italy isn't the only nation with anemic tech trees, but the other fledgling nations float around equally and any detrimental effects of poor lineups causing players of fledgling tech trees to flake out gets spread around equally to everyone. It's just Germany who is predisposed to being paired with flaky Italy.

The presence of light tanks is invaluable in a team since the scouting mechanic enables cheaper CAS to be called in. Germany utterly lacks light tanks. They get the puma at 2.7 and then nothing until the m41 at 6.3, and the m41 has only been in the tech tree since the start of the year. Without the m41, the next light is the premium ru251. F2P players were utterly out of luck in the scouting role. Italy's all-star vehicles tend to be lights, but they sorely lack CAS planes prior to jets.
Meanwhile the allies have competitive light tanks to field and cultivate their air spawns.

On top of that all, the backbone of the German 6.7 lineup was excised last summer and key vehicles that kept them competitive like the panther 2 and coellian have become increasingly rare sights.

How fun jet matches are feels really, really dependent on the personalities of the players in a given round. I feel those tiers benefit more than the others from people who don't take the game super-seriously. (The problem is most jet players seem to be obnoxious tryhards..)

Mid-tier RB for the US is horrible, but lower tier stuff is alright. I don't touch 3.0-4.0 much but P-40s and Buffaloes are a lot of fun; they're a nice balance of forgiving and different enough from other 2.x planes to be interesting.

Jet matches suck because the only jet* I've got is routinely outclimbed, outgunned, and outrun by literally everything in every match.

    * I've actually got 2, but one is basically a better version of the prior one.

so i've been getting into this a little again as a side game

oh my god USA mid-tier Air RB is insane now.... they're perma-teamed with China and Sweden which balances out the usual braindead USA teams to be actually good.

i can't even get into USA games right now. It's 3-5 minute queues.

I think Russia might be the worst in tier2/3 now.... they have the old USA problem... 7 bombers and IL-2s on a 12 man team.

I think I'm dedicated to Japan now. Love the J2M2
