Started a game on the Lost to get his Mega Satan, the last empty spot on my post-its (Still have a few that haven't been done on hard mode on some characters. Not sure if that matters).

You need the Holy Mantle to make the most of it. But the first floor has a Mom's Knife in the treasure room, and a Dead Cat in the curse room. A shop on the 2nd or 3rd floor has a Sack Head. Caves 1 I got 2 suicide kings, at least one from a sack. Found a key bum in a secret room. Got a The Mind. Got a Magic Mushroom. Got a Glowing Hourglass so i was able to throw about 4 coins into the donation machine before I got bored, which was good, because I'd gotten down to the low 200s working on Keeper stuff. Got my key frags (had to use a couple of the jokers that dropped). One of the angel rooms had a Crown of Light (that might have been a Lazarus' Rags that I Perthro'd), which does ridiculous damage with the knife. One of the 4 starting chests in the Chest had Tech X, which apparently just goes right on top of the knife without overwriting.
There were really only 3 negatives, 2 of which were my fault.
I fucked up in the Krampus fight and died, so I missed a shot at a Coal.
I accidentally dropped my Jera rune a couple floors before The Chest and couldn't scrounge up another.
I never got the other two items to get a Guppy transform. Completely unnecessary, but it would have been fun.
I guess maybe also that I never got a restock so at one point I threw away a 2 of Diamonds because I was at 99 coins on depths II and had nothing to spend money on anymore.
Whew, all ps4 challenges complete. As always Suicide King, Cat Got Your Tongue, and Beans were the last ones to go. "...Tongue" and Beans just needed a little more patience than i'd had to give them previously. Suicide King though...i' just kept screwing it up ever since blowing that Pyromaniac run last week. Then this morning, lucked into a Mom's Knife Devil Deal and it was katy bar the door. Thank entropy.
Now it's just the Lost unlock and item collection. i may put it off until Afterbirth comes out. Item collection can be just so tedious outside of Greed mode. Then again, that'll mean having to completely finish Lost's post-it to unlock Godhead, and that doesnae sound so great...
Welp, cleared the Lost's post-it, and what a way to beat Mega Satan. Technology, Mom's Knife, Polyphemus, two Pretty Flies and Sworn Protector. Goat Head as well, but I only just got the second angel room after the Heart. Now it's just... Keeper. :bigfrown:
Had a really good attempt at Brains! ruined. I'd picked up Keepers Head, Stephen, Mom's Knife, and Fate's Reward, so I actually means of doing damage other than the brains. Unfortunately, I got Abaddon as a boss who normally isn't too bad, but apparently, my speed was too low. It was impossible for me to run fast enough not to take damage from him running into me. He was so close to me that the brains and Fate were always behind him so I couldn't hit him. And I guess because I could never get far enough away from him, he also never stopped and did his brimstone attack, so I just had to run in circles as he whittled down all 9 of my hearts.
Also I just fumbled on a potentially really good The Lost run.
Had the incubus, chemical peel, and the ghost baby. Not much damage, but I had just picked up a jera rune, and found a blank card at the shop.
Runes count as cards.
The store also had a battery for sale.
Hello infinite duping.
Unfortunately, I used a judgement card while flying across the room, and it spawned a devil beggar right in my path and I died on contact.

Alright, so I picked up Afterbirth. Boy howdy, is it weird not knowing what everything single thing you see on the screen is! Confused Nips is confused, easily. At any rate, I'm having some fun. I've done three Greed runs, one successful with Isaac and one of two successful with Azazel (still mah belle). Ultra Greed's an interesting fellow.
Insofar as normal runs, one this morning takes the cake. I decided to try and get to Hush, using Azazel. Got middling damage upgrades, and a couple red hearts. I was pretty well swimming in soul hearts, and found Infamy, so I was pretty set up for damage mitigation.
What was so killer was something new to me: Bumbo. I had no idea what he did, and decided to let him do his thing. His thing, turns out, is to hoover the hundreds of kinda-useless coins I was getting dropped, turn into a goddamn monster, and murder anything that stood still too long.
I got to the Blue Womb with five minutes to spare. I had a 20+ supply of Sad Bombs, two full rows of hearts/soul hearts, a charged Book of Revelations, Hierophant card, and a Bumbo with murder on his mind.
Bumbo sat on Hush's face, and did 95% of the work to kill it. Yay, Bumbo!
Bumbo is good boy, credit to team!
[Edit] HOLY SHIT, just had another amazing Hush kill. Azazel with full Brimstone, Maw of the Void, Lump of Coal, a bunch of damage and tear ups...normal rooms were melting in one salvo. Hush died in under a minute. Wow. I also forgot to mention that I melted the Boss Rush in the run, with basically every shot killing both spawned bosses each time. Just ridiculous.

Can you explain a bit more? I know there are a few synergies, but mostly it kills me.
There's a lot of synergies, bomb items are among the most common interacting items in the game. Plus it's pretty easy to not get hit by the bombs unless you're on a room with particularly difficult parkour or, like, globins chasing you down.
Mostly because my favorite Afterbirth run so far was IV bag + curse of the tower + pyromaniac.

Fired up the daily for the first time since I got 1001%. I didn't even make it to the boss on account of a bad trip pill and some unnecessary damage I took due to curse of the maze. Oh well.
When I was working on Keeper stuff I had a run where I got Ipecac early on and I was all "Yusssss" and then like 1 floor later curse of the blind gave me Rubber Cement and suddenly I was all "Nuuuuuuu".
Woo! Onan's Streak down!
The trick apparently is Glowing Hourglass + The Battery.
Once you get the full overcharge, when you use it, it takes you back to the full overcharge instead of empty or 1x charge. Infinite retries!
Magic Mushroom, The Mark, and Small Rock didn't hurt either.
Mega Satan down, which, thanks to multiple damage upgrades, The Wafer, and being Guppied, was a piece of cake.
Then I had a similarly powerful build thanks to 20/20 and some mushrooms, and I make the dumb mistake of skipping Mom. No Negative, no chance of beating Hush, which is the last ending I need.

Kinda edged through the first half of the challenge, then towards the end I got double Steam Sale. Didn't get lucky with a restock, however there was a Chaos.
Picking up that caused the next boss to drop Sad Bombs. Then the last shop had Curse of the Tower. Then the devil room after Mom had Bomber Blast.
It got a little hairy in the chest, but I had just enough hearts to make it to the end. Popped my book of shadows and spammed a few bombs and it was done.

Azazel's Brim + Ludovico + Gnawed Leaf is amazing.
Too bad I got those in the Chest, well after it was clear I wasn't getting the Gold Door open. Again. X_x
i know it's been a while, Isaac thread, LBP3 has actually managed to put a dent in my addiction, though. Still working my way through J-side vanilla-Rebirth. Lucked into a super-solid Lost run to clear off his Darkside Post-it. First floor Holy Mantle, not so great pick-ups until Necropolis II, where i ran into 9Lives and Mom's Knife. Still got a little tense in the Dark Room, got caught in a double Fallen room i had to go through, ended up bleeding off half my lives. Still, was packing a Book of Shadows, and managed to shank the hell out of the Lamb. Tense but awesome.
So...that leaves Lost's Boss Rush and lightside post-it, then i can set things down until Afterbirth hits the ps4. Can't wait. Vanilla-rebirth is definitely fun, but i miss all the additions.
[Jan 27 update edit]Wow, thread got quiet some.
Well, it took something like 150deaths since the last successful run, but i've gotten the Lost through Boss Rush at least. Lucked into a fragile Guppy run, just the Collar for bring-back, though it has saved me once. Got the Polaroid, and am on Womb I now. i'm engaging in no chicken counting, have no particular expectations i'll actually be able to clear out the Lightside post-it, but i've got my fingers and toes crossed. We'll see how it thrashes out after work.[/edit]

An epic load of damage and life ups.
By the end, normal rooms went something like "Enter room, rush to corner, mash Tammy's Head, move to next room." as all the Mini-Brims from Tammy's Head would bounce off of the nearby walls, and go full-length across the room *while* enemy seeking. Cripes.
I killed M.Satan from across the room. Broken Watch even proc'd for slowdown! He stood literally no chance.

i hadn't noticed, but apparently there's some bug with the ps4 version where it doesn't always pop all your unlocks in the secrets section? Like, none of the challenge unlock secrets show as actually being unlocked. Now, i've done them all, and the related items show up as normal, but...i dunno, maybe they're not tracked for purposes of Platinum God/RPG? It kinda sucks.
On a happier note, i managed, just by the skin of my teeth to finish off Lost's lightside Post-it. Didn't think so at the time, got tagged with a shot just as Blue Boy's death animation ended. Guppy's Collar didn't proc, and i just sat there for a bit at the death page feeling pretty damned salty. Went to restart the run and the Secrets notifications came up for the Body and Godhead. i was gobsmacked with happy surprise.
Also, in kinda neat news, i've not checked yet, but apparently the most recent (PCversion) patch added language options? If that's the case, hopefully the Jside ps4 Afterbirth won't be held back for localization purposes. Toes are crossed.
Yeah, i just now had a sit down with PC-Isaac, can't believe it's the first time since the 8th of Jan. Tried out the J-mode, it was cool seeing the Items Page translated, they got rid of whatever was causing the wingding symbols to display instead of, you know, actual Japanese. One weird little bug i noticed, though. After every item description, there's a little "vt" written in a column. Not a major distractor or anything, just odd.

I had that issue too. How long have you been playing this game? For me, I had to wait until the game was patched, which still didn't solve the problem. I ended up syncing my game to the cloud, going to my Vita, and downloading from the cloud, and I might have gone back and forth a couple of times but the secrets (and achievements) eventually popped. Hope that works for you too.
If you don't have a Vita you might try uploading, then deleting your save data (make a copy first!) and then downloading it on the same system.

i've only had the PS4 for about a month now, so i'm still figuring my way around the system. Don't have a Vita, unfortunately, so that option is out. i'm kinda hoping the Afterbirth update will work the kink out. i might get a bit proactive with it though. It doesn't effect the gameplay any, but it rankles a touch.

Then, on floor 2, with only half a heart container, I stepped intoa room with very little space and a pair of troll mega bombs.

Man, Mega Blast is fun. I should've saved it for Ultra Greed, but oh well. It still completely wastes whatever room you are in.

Then I had a similarly powerful build thanks to 20/20 and some mushrooms, and I make the dumb mistake of skipping Mom. No Negative, no chance of beating Hush, which is the last ending I need.
Also, Monstro's Lung still sucks sour balls.
I'm grinding out Azazel runs in Afterbirth to make it my first Mega Satan post it mark, and the last few runs I've lucked into Lung.
Lung + Azazel's Mini-Brim is hysterical.
Also, I think the game is trolling me. I get a good build, no key for the Gold Door. I get the key, shit build. C'mon game, work with me here!
Kinda edged through the first half of the challenge, then towards the end I got double Steam Sale. Didn't get lucky with a restock, however there was a Chaos.
Picking up that caused the next boss to drop Sad Bombs. Then the last shop had Curse of the Tower. Then the devil room after Mom had Bomber Blast.
It got a little hairy in the chest, but I had just enough hearts to make it to the end. Popped my book of shadows and spammed a few bombs and it was done.
Too bad I got those in the Chest, well after it was clear I wasn't getting the Gold Door open. Again. X_x
i know it's been a while, Isaac thread, LBP3 has actually managed to put a dent in my addiction, though. Still working my way through J-side vanilla-Rebirth. Lucked into a super-solid Lost run to clear off his Darkside Post-it. First floor Holy Mantle, not so great pick-ups until Necropolis II, where i ran into 9Lives and Mom's Knife. Still got a little tense in the Dark Room, got caught in a double Fallen room i had to go through, ended up bleeding off half my lives. Still, was packing a Book of Shadows, and managed to shank the hell out of the Lamb. Tense but awesome.
So...that leaves Lost's Boss Rush and lightside post-it, then i can set things down until Afterbirth hits the ps4. Can't wait. Vanilla-rebirth is definitely fun, but i miss all the additions.

Well, it took something like 150deaths since the last successful run, but i've gotten the Lost through Boss Rush at least. Lucked into a fragile Guppy run, just the Collar for bring-back, though it has saved me once. Got the Polaroid, and am on Womb I now. i'm engaging in no chicken counting, have no particular expectations i'll actually be able to clear out the Lightside post-it, but i've got my fingers and toes crossed. We'll see how it thrashes out after work.[/edit]

By the end, normal rooms went something like "Enter room, rush to corner, mash Tammy's Head, move to next room." as all the Mini-Brims from Tammy's Head would bounce off of the nearby walls, and go full-length across the room *while* enemy seeking. Cripes.
I killed M.Satan from across the room. Broken Watch even proc'd for slowdown! He stood literally no chance.

i hadn't noticed, but apparently there's some bug with the ps4 version where it doesn't always pop all your unlocks in the secrets section? Like, none of the challenge unlock secrets show as actually being unlocked. Now, i've done them all, and the related items show up as normal, but...i dunno, maybe they're not tracked for purposes of Platinum God/RPG? It kinda sucks.
On a happier note, i managed, just by the skin of my teeth to finish off Lost's lightside Post-it. Didn't think so at the time, got tagged with a shot just as Blue Boy's death animation ended. Guppy's Collar didn't proc, and i just sat there for a bit at the death page feeling pretty damned salty. Went to restart the run and the Secrets notifications came up for the Body and Godhead. i was gobsmacked with happy surprise.
Also, in kinda neat news, i've not checked yet, but apparently the most recent (PCversion) patch added language options? If that's the case, hopefully the Jside ps4 Afterbirth won't be held back for localization purposes. Toes are crossed.

Yeah, i just now had a sit down with PC-Isaac, can't believe it's the first time since the 8th of Jan. Tried out the J-mode, it was cool seeing the Items Page translated, they got rid of whatever was causing the wingding symbols to display instead of, you know, actual Japanese. One weird little bug i noticed, though. After every item description, there's a little "vt" written in a column. Not a major distractor or anything, just odd.

Right? i feel a touch sad that i've dropped off the face of Steam-Earth, but still, i really like playing on the PS4.
Hey, @joshofalltrades, since you're running PS4 too, did you get that thing where some of your Secrets weren't unlocking? If so, was there any way to get them to do so? Right now i'm down to about 6items to pick up (one is Super Bandage, though, so...still have to luck into full Bandage Girl (and SMB, for that matter)), but none of the Challenge unlocks show as being, well, unlocked on the secrets page. i'll be jeest a leetle salty if i cannae pull RPG because of that.
Side note, i recently found that an Isaac's Heart run is totally winnable. i mean, you just need Brimstone, Tammy's Head, some form of flight, and every damage up in the game, but after that, totally doable. At least it's checked off the Items Page, so i never have to touch it again.

I had that issue too. How long have you been playing this game? For me, I had to wait until the game was patched, which still didn't solve the problem. I ended up syncing my game to the cloud, going to my Vita, and downloading from the cloud, and I might have gone back and forth a couple of times but the secrets (and achievements) eventually popped. Hope that works for you too.
If you don't have a Vita you might try uploading, then deleting your save data (make a copy first!) and then downloading it on the same system.
i've only had the PS4 for about a month now, so i'm still figuring my way around the system. Don't have a Vita, unfortunately, so that option is out. i'm kinda hoping the Afterbirth update will work the kink out. i might get a bit proactive with it though. It doesn't effect the gameplay any, but it rankles a touch.
