My most embarrassing death: playing greed mode and trying to get a Lost win. I'm in the middle of an amazing run with tons of great items, when a troll bomb appears in a room after a D20 roll. And I forgot to refresh my holy mantle.

Alright, best mop up run ever. Only items left were dollar, super bandage (and the associated BG/SMB unlocks), and guardian angel. Wasn't pushing for them, just figured they'd come up eventually. Well, pulled the angel in my first angel room (after passing on a devil deal for brother bobby), the dollar popped from a random slot machine later. Sharp plug turns up in a shop, and i reroll into monster manuel the next floor. Get to the chest hoping to fight super lust for the yum heart to complete the infinite familiar engine (already had cancer from the basement item room), and the damn thing shows up in one of the first room golden chests. An hour of summoning and healing later and BG and SMB are get. Wootwoot. Super bandage is common enough, so i expect it to show up in the next couple of runs.
So, aside from the bugged secrets, that's a touch over a month from zero to RPG. Pretty damn fine if i do say so m'self.

Runs like this are what keep me coming back to Isaac even while there are more than enough other games in my queue . Sure a lot of runs may end up being nothin to write home about, but then you luck into some stupid absurd combo that makes you sit back and say "damn."

So just as a little test, i fired up an empty (ps4) file, and tried doing some of the early unlocks. Had a couple of stupidly lucky runs that let me pull most of the characters on the first select page and a couple of the challenges. i know i popped Tank and Cat Got Your Tongue, there may have been others. Sure enough, everything but the challenge related secrets popped as unlocked. So...some confluence of my game version and my ps4, apparently, hate challenge secrets.
Have to cross my fingers and toes hard, and hope Nicalis gets it worked out with the Afterbirth release.

Yup, getting a Chaos Card is a wonderful time saver. I've never had the pleasure of using it on Hush, but I am pretty sure I got to use it on Ultra Greed.
So after completing all the hardmode post-its, and getting blinding baby, I was still one achievement short. That being 1001%.
I dug through my collections list and realized I hadn't gotten Empty Vessel, Immaculate Conception, or D8.
Empty Vessel I'd seen several times, and even gotten waaay early on within the first couple of days, but it was a daily challenge seed I think, so it didn't count. Never was worth the hearts any other time I saw it. D8 I'd seen but never picked up, because I always had something better and stats I didn't want to reroll, but I didn't realize I'd never even grabbed it.
So I went into greed mode, after a few minutes of resetting D8 showed up in the shop.
I did a couple runs as Isaac, rerolling devil and angel rooms, but couldn't get the other two to show up.
But then I got a run, where the first treasure room had an Epic Fetus.
Throwing missiles at the reroll machine got me a car battery. Managed to repeat buy cards until a 2 of diamonds showed up.
A couple more floors of bombing the reroll machine (I got lucky getting one on almost every floor) until I finally fished a blank card and a chaos out on Sheol.
Then I went nuts in the shop. Towards the end I had almost every follower, almost every transformation, tons of stupid use item pedestals littering the floor, and pages and pages of breakfast, since I was getting maybe 1 in 10 real items at the end. But I got the things I needed. Game complete.
For shits i went out to see what it was like.
I stepped on the button and fired a shot. A few enormous, screen filling bullets showed up and just hung there. It slowly animated a few different tear effects happening from all my minions. After about 10 seconds they finally finished, and I was on wave 7.
I fired again.
Game crashed.

Aye, I had a similar greed mode run where if I fired for more than 2 seconds the game crashed. Good times.
Also Northerlion FINALLY got 1001% (video went up today, I think). The last item he needed was Friend Ball, which has shown up at least 5 times in his afterbirth series but he never bothered to actually pick up. Womp womp.
If it's like me with the D8, I just assumed I already had at one point.

I'm playing the 3DS version of rebirth during my commutes, it's a little bit mind-bending getting back into old routines compared to Afterbirth.
Now I'm dredging through the Lost unlocks though, pre-Holy Mantle, blech. I did just pick up Brimstone and Dead Cat in the first devil deal though, so this seems a promising run...
Man, it's a use item. Why not just friggin pick it up when you see it just so you touched it?
This is standard practice. Get it the hell out of the item rotation, I don't wanna reroll something and have an item I already didn't want pop back up!

James Id and i have been working on this secret project for a few months now and we cant hold our tongues any longer!
The Facts:
The Legend of Bum-bo is a turn based puzzle RPG type thingy thats randomly generated.
James Id is programming and handling all the 3d aspects of the art as well as a ton of other thankless work ill take credit for.
im designing, writing and dealing with the 2d art and character design.
once again Matthias and Jon (Ridiculon) will be handling the audio.

I haven't seen this mentioned anywhere but Afterbirth+ is releasing this year. Console release will be sometime after PC release and will not include mod support.
There's a new character named Apollyon, he starts with an active item called The Void with a recharge rate of 4. More than any other item in the game, this has the potential to break Isaac more than ever before. Why?
Popping The Void in a room with a passive item pedestal applies a random stat effect to your character. Did you walk into a room with Soy Milk? Void it and enjoy your Damage Up instead. Cursed Eye in your treasure room? I'll just get a Tears Up upgrade!
But that's not all! We're just getting started.
Using The Void in a room with an active item pedestal absorbs the active effect into The Void. Thenceforth, all uses of The Void are also uses of the item you absorbed. Hello, Mega Blasts combined with Book of Shadows, Book of Belial, Satanic Bible, Book of Revelations and who the fuck knows what else every 4 rooms.
Finally, pickups are converted into flies.
Imagine using The Void on single use items like Diplopia and having Sharp Plug/Satanic Bible effects also. Duplicate items for free! Make sure you buy More Options and Even More Options so you can double your stat increases and Void effects!
I'm sure there's other stuff I'm just not thinking of, but holy shit it would snap the game in half if they implement it as described.

On my end, about half or three-quarters to 1001% on the US side Afterbirth. Aside from a few graphics glitches, very minor, haven't noticed it to be particularly buggy. Can't figure out why it hasn't gotten a Jside PSN release.
Also, some of the Afterbirth items make the Rebirth challenges so much easier. Also, also Speed still sucks.

Edit - I just saw a bomb bum! I didn't even know they existed. It only took 7 bombs to get him to pay out with Sad Bombs.

psych, I've played like one run since I made this post
ETG killed a lot of my passion for isaac because the combat feels much more fulfilling, but I think afterbirth++ will be enough to drag me back
some of the items revealed on the blag are very, very exciting

Meanwhile, my major question is why we've taken to calling it Afterbirth++. Isn't it just +?
