When I first saw that mirror gagarin I was super sad for a second since I just used one of my T6 tokens to get the standard version... has a different trait (the only real reason i grabbed the standard, for my torp temer build, although found it to be a super fun ship to fly anyway).
Either way, free T6 is always nice!
Also i've had my eye on Terran uniforms for ages, so thats an awesome score as well. everything's coming up Milhouse!

T6 version still worth it, because of the trait, and also the MW stuff and the 5/3 loadout.
Lots of people carping that the free version is nerfed, because duh, it's free (to grind).
Fun mission. Reward is a Terran exocomp doff named Legume Creel. Creel is a type of wicker basket. I.e. this is literally Mirror Peanut Hamper.
Mirror Player shows up in a cutscene at the end, but has four generic mook commanders instead of any combination of your bridge officers. Still, looks like that'll be the next main villain, the Aakar to Kuumaarke's J'mpok.
Of course this comes right after I spend one of my event coupons on the Narenda. Still a great trait on a beautiful ship (totally rocking an Ambassador skin on my Delta recruit) and the Klingon version can use the Vorcha skin if you were looking for one of those. Would definitely recommend.

New episode is buggy as heck, always crashes the game on startup and now can't progress because a mob is outside the map

Somehow it gets worse, restarting puts you all the way back at the start of the first ground section and the the electrical arcs no longer have a safe pattern

I think they're patching it today?
In good news, the new ground TFO is great fun, though that might be because my engineer is specc'd with Risan modules for crowd control, and boy are there crowds.
That said, one part is a bit awkward:
Not sure if there's a better way to take out the runabout at the end apart from running right up to it so I can pewpew it though. Have to get reeeealll close.
Ok, I missed this before, bit Mirror Peanut Hamper's quote text is, "SPAAAAAAAAAAACE!"
Her power (chance to spawn an exocomp on a flanking hit) seems to be either broken or crazy low proc rate, second run of the episode and the STF and no spawns.

I wonder if that's supposed to be for taking a flanking hit, or dealing a flanking hit,
I've put her on active for now, just to see if it procs.

Well, had another go and the patch seems to have fixed the Episode at least so played though. A lot of setup but that's fine.
Feels like the ground AI has been tweaked a bit, constructs like turrets, drones and generators etc seem to be targeted a lot more readily than before which is interesting, might be a change to make the old bunker style engineer a bit less passive.
Alienware's giving away the Temporal Agent Starter Pack which comes with two ships, one being a T6, and a Kelvin Timeline Bridge Officer.
The T6 is the Paladin Temporal Cruiser, too, which I think you asked about a few days back.
The T1 Enterprise is useful too, after it’s normal life, because it comes stocked with a pair of beams that level with you. So you can add and dismiss the T1, and put the beams on your nice new Paladin while you level up.
Siccing my own tiny runabout on a life size runabout rules
Yeah it’s a surprisingly fun time. Long for the rewards though, seems to take my teams 30+ minutes.
Mostly spent at the end. I genuinely am not sure what the best loadout is to deal with the runabout ant the end. That seems to be where my teams can stall out.

It claims to be a 20% proc rate, going to give that a try later.

Yeah, the classic screech-beams. I'll probably get a couple more of those if possible. Also, I heard the Paladin was ok as a T6 even with it's Temporal ship gimmicks.

It is! I like the Paladin, anyway.
And yeah, you can always ready and dismiss the T1 three times to get six sets of beams to put on your T6 beam boat.

Sadly, my preference for cutting things down with my laser bat'leth is not the answer to that part.
The mycelial drones that come with the laser bat'leth set seem to do some work though.
Game is plagued by disconnects today but did manage to finish the STF with sound on this time, and man, the Leeroy Jenkins references during the assault on ops.

For the final fight, it's one of the first bosses in STO where group composition might make a huge difference. A science officer kitted to strip shields, a tac with a sniper with powers for spike damage, especially shield bypassing, and anyone kitted for AOE to deal with the waves of mostly ensign level adds.
Since this isn't an option for randos, my best mileage has been with a TR-116 and a mix of tac buffs and pet spam. Sniper rifles seem to be the best weapons because range is a huge limiting factor in this room, other single target weapons mean you're sticking your head right up the runabout's tailpipe to get a shot, while a sniper can get secondary fire from half the room and primary fire from the second line of clutter objects.
Man, the references in this STF, I notice more every damn run. The exocomps' names are Zero Cool, Cereal Killer, Acid Burn, and holy shit that movie was 26 years ago what the fuck?

We both know that can’t be true. As it is currently 2005.

Jabberwocky gets a lot of hate but I've actually found it oddly decent for grinding the event. It was made before the days of Zapp Brannigan scripting of wave after wave of enemies so you defeat a group and move on instead of being stuck there for 5 minutes, the cutscenes are (mostly) skippable, and you get a jar'o'changeling for your troubles,
"It's a magic wand. It controls the giant cat."
"Giant what?"
"Nothing, nothing. Let me show you all the very cool and totally not reality warping mineral samples we have in this room."
Okay I've been binging a bunch of Star Trek and now I'm downloading STO to scratch that itch...its apparently been 7 years since I've last played are there any guides for new players?
Last time I played I think ground game was dominated by turrets and grenades?

Turrets are no longer needed, but can still be useful. The old Expose/Exploit thing is still in the game, but nowhere near as necessary as it was at launch.
Really, I think the best option after 7 years would be to start a new character. Klingon and Romulan both have good tutorials on them, and hitting max rank is a lot faster now, so you won't be stuck in your starter bucket for much past the tutorial.

ooo, make a temporal recruit if you can for sure
also turrets are still kind of a thing but they are mostly big alien obelisks now
Engineering's good. You can drop turrets and heal generators and even call down a strike from your ship.
One of my favorite parts about this game is that "you" can still make the turrets and heal generators by simply training a member of your away team (or several members) to do it while you're playing a tactical captain buffing your melee damage and swinging Abe Lincoln's axe into the head of the nearest borg drone for near starship weapon levels of damage. I suppose you could also use Klingon Satan's fire sword, if you wanted to. So many options to build with.
The Orbital Strike is an Engineer captain only power though. Can't have just any old red gold shirt calling those in.

I just brute forced it with the red angel revive and paradox corrector because what's the good of being immortal if you aren't immortal?

Sorry mate, looks like yours is a Known Issue in the patch notes, but not resolved yet.
I really need time to get some creds and buy all these doffcrete common officers for the fleet T5 starbase. But wanna level my agent!

Anyway, there's a tweet with a spooky picture of the moon, a maniacal female laugh, a quote from the episode Cat's Paw, and the date October 13.
Early last year a dev was talking about a larger Halloween episode (instead of just Hearts and Minds) based on Cat's Paw, but it didn't get finished.
The good news is that it probably won't be a grind event since one is already going on.
The episode involved a coven of "witches" that were actually nonhumanoid beings, and their wands were reality warping devices called Transmuters.

In a similar vein, don't make a Dominion recruit. That will start you in the end game with no information or tutorial.
