I’m always annoyed that the Orbital Strike doesn’t follow the target. The Risa kit version does though, which is awesome.
Yeah boff tactics seem to be nothing more than "if I can use it, use it immediately!"
Awhile back they added a pistol that had a special ability to throw it like a grenade which would leave you unarmed for awhile. So of course boffs used it the first chance they got and spent the next minute wondering where their phaser went.

Yeah, used to make sure all my BOffs had expose weapons, then I'd just sit in the back with a sniper rifle waiting for the secondary fire to blink so I could erase that guy, then move to the next.
Could never trust those idiots to pull the secondary trigger at the right time.
I had just finished the Delta arc on my main before the Temporal Recruit event started, and now I have to redo it on my Agent, and I don’t wanna. It was so long. So dull. So…bleh.
Kind of weird lines on this one, hard to see exactly what's going on with it, but neat to see a Steamrunner variant that isn't the Great Value Brand knockoff mixed up in the Akira partlist.
Looks like the devs have been playing the GOG release of Star Trek Armada, because the powers remind me of the Steamrunner from that game - a tricobalt barrage console and a special weapon that pierces shields and does physical damage over time.
hey so for some reason I got sucked back into this after last playing in like 2014 lol
Is there any sort of PA fleet or anything? Dunno how long I'll play
oh also, that charity bundle on Fanatical, when it says the ships are account bound does that mean I get it on every character?

Pretty much, yeah. They're both T6s so they'll level up with you rather then you having to swap ships every 10 levels. If you hit Lv65 with at least a Klingon if not any character, you unlock the ability to fly ships from the other factions too.
Also, yes, there are PA fleets though they're pretty quiet at the moment.

Yes, account bound ships can be claimed on every character.

ETA; I’m in one of the PA fleets, it’s a bit quiet, but it has most of the fleet stuff apart from the final tier shipyard, which I am very slowly working on…

Give me your character/at and I’ll hook you up.
Keep in mind that (as far as I'm aware), the T6 in the Temporal Agent pack's a Starfleet-only ship (unless you unlock cross-ship access like I mentioned). When you hit Lv40, you should get a free T5 token which, if you want, let you unlock the T6's TOS counterpart on that level. That'll let you apply it's skin on the T6 if you're not a fan of the flat-look it has.

that's why I started playing, I saw the Alienware giveaway last week and was like "What the hell, Deathloop can wait." I claimed the ship but haven't used it yet, almost feels kinda like cheating lol, I might start using it when I hit 30 or 40 depending on how those ships are

No worries mate, I’ll drop you a fleet invite to the Arcadians in an hour or so, if nobody beats me to it.
What's the general opinions of the Kelvin-Constitution and the Mirror-Warship T6s? One better then the other or is it wiser to go for a different Infinity ship?
The leveling escorts are all flimsy, but there's a lot of tier 6 escorts that can take a beating. They're never going to have the bulk of a cruiser or dreadnought, but I've got the tier 6 Akira variant (with the AOE special weapons off the older C-store variants) and it can take a beating while still dropping a ridiculous alpha strike and having a wing of fighters to boot.
It's been left behind by the metagame for a long time, but they can have my Armitage when they pry it from my cold dead hands or give me a legendary version with pilot maneuvers.
The way to make up for a flimsy escort is to build them for front arc burst damage - either a ton of dual cannons or a dual beam bank and quantum torpedo with cannons to fill in, with a beam overload/high yield one-two punch. And know what arc an enemy is strongest in and avoid that - almost no NPCs have aft torpedoes, and most with beams are actually stronger on the sides than the front or rear. Have two copies of emergency power to shields once you have the power slots for to, so you always have that turned on, and at least one hull heal like hazard emitters.
Some special powers have a 5km range (D'deridex Warbirds lose half their offense if you stay out of point blank), and with two exceptions* nothing has a range over 10 km, but enemies will stay engaged out to 20 km, so you can use that safe range to heal back up.
*The exceptions: there's one Klingon cruiser with a 15 km range torpedo on a long cooldown, and Borg cylinders and diamonds in queue missions have a beam lance with a 10 km *minimum* range to punish people trying to flee.
So I spent some credits on the exchange and bought a bunch of DOffs to feed into the fleet meat grinder.
I made bars go up, but I don't know what those do.

The Fleet Starbase has multiple levels. Each level gives shinies.
There are three subsections for each level - science, tactical, engineering.
Each subsection has projects you can build for xp; when you’ve run enough projects, the subsection levels up, and you get more shinies
For example, the PA fleet starbase is level IV.
To get to V, it needs the subsections beneath it to be V.
To get a subsection up to V from IV you need to run projects.
Levelling a subsection up to V means hitting 250k XP for that subsection
Running a project adds 1k XP
To run a project you need to add required resources (dilithium, common doffs etc) to it
So currently we want to level up the Fleet starbase to V, levelling the subsections to V
As a sub goal, we want to level up the fleet shipyard to V first of the three subsections - it gives access to more, better, fleet ships
The shipyard currently has 226/250k XP
That means we need to run another 24 shipyard projects (1k each) to be done
Each project requires filling with resources before it can be started. Only one project per subsection can be run at a time.
Only people with certain perks can trigger a project (e.g. I can’t!)
Does any of that make sense? It’s annoyingly hard to explain.
It's time for STO's first ever Halloween Event! Like the First Contact Day event, this new three week event begins with a single activitiy, and will be expanded in the years to come. This time, Captains will find themselves transported to an ancient castle on Pyris VII. The classic aliens from the Original Series episode "Catspaw", the Old Ones, have returned once again to study humanity - but their plans have been disrupted by the Devidians! Can you navigate the darkness and terror of two of Star Trek's spookiest villains, and escape with your lives, or even your souls?
Rewards are an Old One vanity pet and a magic wand that turns an enemy into a black cat. The cat projects a bad luck aura that disables most tech on nearby allies, but also makes its allies flee so probably not much mileage from the aura.
But that's not all, as the entire store will be on sale for 75% off from October 7th at 8am PT (17:00 CEST) to October 11th at 10am PT (19:00 CEST), on Xbox and Playstation. We'll have updated dates for the sale on PC as soon as the items go live there. Enjoy, Captains!
That said, so far it looks like the two versions of the big ship bundle are excluded from the sale. But there's still some good things cheap there like the four Featured Episode item-pack on sale for 20 bucks and the individual Holo-BOs for 10.
If you mean the rest of the stuff on sale, the Holo Bridge Officers are nice and for 20 bucks, you open up the old Featured Reward prizes (two reusable combat items and two Bridge Officers) to your whole account.

Yes, account bound ships can be claimed on every character.
There’s also the Temporal Agent starter pack, which is a T6 cruiser available to every character you have or create on your account (“account bound”) and a bunch of other gubbins. It’s free, and super useful: https://na.alienwarearena.com/ucf/show/2157303/boards/contest-and-giveaways-global/Giveaway/star-trek-online-reflections-temporal-agent-starter-pack

I went with an Akira at level 20 and its a little too much glass not enough cannon for my tastes.

Yup, got it.
For some reason, common tac/sec duty officers are what hold up the shipyard project constantly. It does need a lot of them to be fair.
