The 3DS version could keep me busy enough for years, probably. But The Wii U will be better for longer sessions and with groups, so I want that as soon as possible too :P
I'm partial to third myself - contests were a fun sidegame and Gardevior is one of my favorites on top of that. (X/Y are way up there though just for dress up).
I'm actually shocked the tree is effective. I felt like it'd be way to slow to water and chop it, although I guess most of the utility isn't from cutting it down.

I still don't get how people are able to get that move off in an actual fight

The cutting down is iffy. Setting up the tree doesn't require much of an opening for either step, and your pocket will make people hesitant to use projectiles. The risk of OHSHITTREEPOW adds additional caution if you have the seedling out (and the watering pushes back, messing up spacing for hits on top of it).
Now, cutting it down? Yeah that has no business connecting without setup. On the other hand, you don't need to cut it down - just having the axe handy is helpful. (Worth noting is that the tree blocks projectiles and mucks with movement... making cutting from the other side somewhat safe against people without swords)
Having a tree gives you territory control, and nobody can force you to leave the vicinity when you're playing stock. What are they going to do, harass you with projectiles?
I'm pretty decent with Villager but I haven't mastered the slingshot at all. The stream of that tournament that was linked to a couple of pages back had a Villager who was pretty good with it though, maybe I should emulate him. He kept using it while he was off-stage so that the projectile was at ground level, which was pretty smart.

It's a real versatile move, and surprisingly effective in a lot of situations.
Watering a seedling is a decent trap for catching people off-guard, as the tree does decent damage and knock-back just from sprouting, the tree itself is an effective shield that will protect you from attacks, and actually chopping the tree down is a pretty safe move: if they approach from anywhere except the 90 degree angle above/behind you they'll either be blocked by the tree or eat an axe to the face.

Pic of the day. We've prepared many hats for Mii Fighters...but a lot of them are humorously designed, so it might be hard to coordinate them with flair. You could, of course, choose to not wear the hats at all... It makes me wonder--how is everyone planning to dress up their Mii Fighters? Well, one thing is for sure: the ninja headband worn by the Mii in front should look good with anything.
I have a podcast now. It's about video games and anime!Find it here.

So I am really feeling Megaman now that I put some serious time into him. At first he is so jarring because he plays almost exactly like hes straight outta his game (something chars like sonic and samus would prolly kill for). I used to think he was just outright terrible. But he is definately not.
You just need to short hop like its your job. His fair and bair are KILLER good. For different reasons. His up air and dair are also good in their own right but much more situational (they are kill moves in their respective direction, though up air is a solid edge guard that you can mix in side smash for a lot of pressure on the edge).
But something that is significant is the pellets. Oh god the pellets. They really add up the damage, and being able to walk around (and jump!) while firing means you can disrupt like everything that isn't ranged. Just straight up cancel peoples moves.
Oh, and when we can change the controls o freaking turn off up jump, his up tilt is increidble albiet risky. But it comes out so fast if you do a perfect dodge is game over for someone.
Oh and crash bomb isn't as bad as it seems. There are benefits to making someone guard. Also, putting it under the stage on return then pelleting someone off and they get hit by the explosion during a recovery is good for some lolkills.
I have him up to winning most of my 1v1 vs a level 9 cpu. I wish there was real people to play but I gotta wait till release to play you all. I will need some kind of friend list though I haven't done a 3ds game with PAers yet

Well, I'm probably not going to be winning any tournaments, so not getting the game on day 1 for more practice isn't a big deal to me, I think I'm gonna hold off a week and see if maybe a 5 or 10 dollar off sale happens somewhere.

On Smash? Best deal you'll probably get is a sale on eshop points.
The best deal you'll get is maybe a few pity dollars on a used copy from GameStop. People steal games and then "trade them in" like two days after launch.

I've been hearing a couple people say here and there that some of the changes they've made to Sonic almost make him feel like he's straight out of his game, but yeah, saying Megaman plays almost exactly like he's walked straight out of a Megaman game is pretty apt way of putting it.

Yeah I haven't played new sonic get honestly do I didn't have much basis for that in the new game

Ah, yeah. There was a comic book store I used to frequent that would always have a ton of the newest TV seasons the day they came out. They had one lady bring in the complete Seinfeld DVD set with the pirate shirt still shrink wrapped. They eventually started telling the suspicious people that they don't accept stuff the day it comes out to try to discourage them stealing but they'd just bring it in the next week.
Mega Man is a really weird character. Almost all of his moves are awesome but often fairly situational and easily punished, so you have to get some practice in to train yourself how to play him compared to most characters. He's going to be really terrible for button mashers.

Once the 3DS version comes out, the anticipation pains will move on to the Wii U version.

Not as much, to be honest. The wait for the 3DS version is definitely the hardest part.

I've logged more than 20 hours on the demo, and that only has 1 mode, 5 characters, and 1 stage.
At those rates I think the full 3DS version will probably keep me busy enough until the WiiU version.

It's a decent range projectile that comes out fast and has way better knockback than what you'd expect.
Honestly, Warriors games are a thing that you either like or you don't. And I've always been in the "don't" camp.
The slingshot? Yeah. Best excuse to master quick jump timing in the demo for sure.

Looks like this ludicrous amount of Megaman playing on the demo will be useful for something!
