Was playing through Project X zone, and I was reminded of something that I loved about the game. The un-intentional comedy. As you know, each fight (that is not with a boss) is begun with two of the characters fighting (either the main fighters, of one of their support fighters) coming in and making a statement taken from a random list of them associated with that character. I was fighting with Cyril and Toma (from a SHining force game I don't recognize) and Arthur (from Ghosts & Goblins) on support.
Once the fight was over, Arthur having blown off his armor, suddenly gets a close up on the screen. There he is in only his underwear and looking powerful and hot-blooded, and he says "No force on Earth can Stop me!" Then Cyril (the girl on the team) comes in behind him and says "This sort of thing always wears me out."
Yeah....I think you guys can understand that. It reminded me of sometime before when A fight ended and Morrigan come sup and says something like "Stand still, I only want your body and soul." then Reiji Arisu coms in behind her and says "Okay let's do this!"

Fantasy life has already taken up 20hrs of my life. I'm just running around doing tons of side quests though, so I don't know how long the actual story is haha.
I have a Fantasy Life question, forgive me if it has been answered on a previous page. How does the day/night/turn structure work? I mean, I hear about similarities to Animal Crossing, for example, which runs on the system clock time-for-time. Or is it like say, Harvest Moon, or Recettear? Or is there no time to worry about more like Final Fantasy or Pokemon? I guess the reason I'm asking is because I was wondering if you play more in discrete chunks or binge until your eyeballs fall out.

So day and night works in real time: as you stand around idle or do whatever you want time progresses. Dawn and dusk respawn enemies immediately, and night features some different enemies than day. Super rough guess: day is about an hour or so long, night is the same. You can sleep to fast forward to dawn, or rest to fast forward to dusk. The game does NOT use the system clock to determine time.
All of this points to discrete chunks: but I have to say, it's got that 'just one more turn' syndrome going on. Oh, look a tree! just gonna cut it down before I quit. Sweet! got a rare log drop from it which finished one of the challenges I have. Now I have enough stars to get to the next rank, better teleport to my guild master and turn it in. Oh, new rank came with a new ability. And the guild master's sidekick just told me of a super rare tree in the dark part of the elder forest. Hmmm I'm going to need a new axe for that one. Lemme quickly check what I can make as a Carpenter. Oh, all I need is a Durable Shell to make the new axe! Lemme just go pick one up from the beach. Whoa...rare turtle boss! I'm sure I can take him if I just go recruit that Knight that helped me with the earlier quest. Lemme just...etc etc bam it's 4 am.
So in Fantasy Life I've more or less settled on Hunter/Tailor/Alchemist as my primary lives. Woodcutter/Miner are getting some love as well, of course, because I gots to gather those resources. Carpenter and Blacksmith are back-ups to make bows, furniture and needles. Think I'm going to mostly ignore the rest until I start feeling the need to grind up lives.
Overall impressions from those who got the system already are really positive. Faster in nearly every regard, much wider 3D angle and the C-stick seems to work surprisingly well.
Not able to view the videos at the moment, but do they say what wireless mode the New 3DS supports? I would hope that the faster speed tests means that it uses wireless N mode.
Has anyone seen someone try to put a wrist strap on the New 3DS? It seems it would be impossible to actually have on your wrist while you play with the anchor position being in the back now.

Hmm. Thanks for the Fantasy Life time info, but that doesn't help me decide to get it digitally or as a physical copy. On one hand, digital copy won't get lost and I can get it at midnight. But on the other hand I kinda like having physical copies and I feel like my system is getting cluttered with games I am done with or no just no longer play.
It being available at midnight is kind of winning out though.
Definitely going digital here because it sounds like this game could be lengthy, especially if you're a completionist. Also, midnight launch party in my PJs from my couch!

does anyone know if all the user/data can be copied from a current 3ds sd card, transfered to a pc, and then moved onto the new type (microsd? i think) without any hickups? do user accounts transfer fine too?
When you speak of user accounts, are you talking about switching from one 3DS to another? Or just switching from one sd card to another?
I know you can copy it all from one SD card to another that way (SD Card -> Computer -> New SD Card), I don't imagine a microsd would be any different.
If you're swapping to a new 3DS, I recommend putting your data from the sd card on the computer first, and then do the system transfer between the two 3DS'. That way you have a backup of your game data in case something gets a little borked up...though I have never heard of issues in the system transfer.

i have a shitton of download games
Yeah that's basically how you do it. Straight up copy paste everything from one SD card to another and the new card will work in the same 3DS. Don't use the 3DS in the interim just to be safe.
I don't know what you mean about user accounts. You can only have your NNID associated with one 3DS at a time, if you need to transfer all data to another 3DS there's a process for that, I think you can only do it a maximum of 3 times. In that case when the process is complete you just put the SD card from the old 3DS in the new one and it works.

Worth it for the Zelda LBW theme.

They weren't kidding about faster download speeds. Of course this is far from a conclusive test, but the New 3DS was twice as fast as the regular one.
This game is going to eat so much of my time.
That's nice. Though Nintendo's download infrastructure is generally good enough @ 3DS speed, so 2x is nice.

Whoa, it only took them 14 years to get to the year 2000! What's next, actual user accounts?
Hey now, let's not ask for pipe dreams. Let's focus on more immediately attainable goals like interstellar travel.

Same goes for Monster Hunter, which sold over 2 million copies already.
I did not expect the New 3DS to sell well, to be honest. So that's nice to hear,
Wonder if those sales will keep up, though.
Obviously it won't sell that much every week, but I wouldn't be surprised if it'll be the best-selling version of the 3DS from now on.
Japan loves their handhelds.
