Overall impressions from those who got the system already are really positive. Faster in nearly every regard, much wider 3D angle and the C-stick seems to work surprisingly well.
Jesus christ on a stick, someone take the old 3ds behind the barn and shoot it on the head.
Wished that they implemented the modular/removable circle pad and buttons that was shown in early prototype/patent illustrations for the 3DS. Selling multi-colored face buttons and replacement circle pads would have been cool.
Like, pull the stick hard to the left, and the whole thing slides out and you're screwed. Unless they lock in place really well and don't shift in position.
The problem, as is with most modular things, is that it would end up being larger than the component just soldered right onto the board. Have to have connections on both ends, bits to lock it down, packaging etc. All takes up valuable space inside the case, and probably end up making the device larger for a really niche product.

We'll probably see it in the next Nintendo handheld. Instead of giving us 2 analog sticks like everyone wants, they'll give us the option to remove the face buttons to add a second stick.
And I'll buy it, day one.

does anyone know if all the user/data can be copied from a current 3ds sd card, transfered to a pc, and then moved onto the new type (microsd? i think) without any hickups? do user accounts transfer fine too?
i have a shitton of download games
Yeah that's basically how you do it. Straight up copy paste everything from one SD card to another and the new card will work in the same 3DS. Don't use the 3DS in the interim just to be safe.
I don't know what you mean about user accounts. You can only have your NNID associated with one 3DS at a time, if you need to transfer all data to another 3DS there's a process for that, I think you can only do it a maximum of 3 times. In that case when the process is complete you just put the SD card from the old 3DS in the new one and it works.
Sorry, i mean if i copy paste from my current sd, move it onto a micro sd, and then system transfer to a new 3ds, everything (including my purchases) should transfer over, correct?

Copy SD card to computer (this is just a backup)
Do system transfer to new 3DS
Copy SD card from old 3DS again to microSD card for new 3DS
???
Profit!
I believe you might need your current SD card in the system to do the system transfer, as it modifies data on there to make it work on the new 3DS instead.
My 3DS isn't nearly that slow as in the Gamexplain video. I am on board for the New 3DS but it looks to me like someone is using a class 2 card or something.

I use the stock SD cards with my 3DS and until recently, especially with smash, didn't really notice any slowdown. But now it seems to be a loading machine..

Maybe Nintendo is subscribing to the Apple method of software updates, wherein old devices slowly but surely become unusable!
My new 32GB SD card arrived and I should be picking it up tomorrow. Just to be sure I don't lose all my Pokémon from Y, I just copy all the contents from my old SD card to the new one and call it a day, am I right?

So in the prologue of Layton vs Wright, the defendant is on trial for theft and assault.
Except it should be theft and battery.
There seemed to be very little assault in the testimony.
(Assault is putting the fear of imminent danger at someone, like if I ran at you with a knife screaming I would kill you then stopped and laughed. That's assault. Battery is, well, what you hit someone and cause grievous bodily harm. Take that, translator!)
Humor can be dissected as a frog can, but dies in the process.
My 3DS is screwed up right now, but in the best way.
My 3DS has been on for a long time, plugged in in sleep mode, this morning it was still in Smash Bros so I had to close it and open the plaza. I was going through my streetpasses as usual, I had gone to McDonalds for breakfast and picked up like 8 people there.
I got through a couple of the games, I'm doing other stuff IRL as well, not really paying attention, and suddenly I look down at the title screen of Warrior's Way and it's like whoa. All of a sudden the 3D effect is eye-searingly, unplayably deep. It's amazing. I can see forever.
I turn the slider down to like halfway and that's actually what it used to look like on full blast. When I turn it all the way up it's tough to get my eyes to adjust to it at all but at the same time it looks awesome. I showed my friend and he can corroborate this, it is messed up and incredible.
I fought a ninja's army and it goes to this screen where he's in your face taunting you with a full blue background, and it becomes obvious that this depth is not meant to be visible, because there are diagonal black bars at both the left and right edges of the screen, since the game's not rendering the backdrop very far to the left and right. The "cameras" being used for the left and right eye views are aimed off the edges of the screen.
I finished Warrior's Way and went into Monster Manor and the effect persisted. I'm keeping my 3DS asleep there until I can get home to see if I can upload screenshots. Actually, can we even upload plaza screens to Miiverse/the internet, or is that functionality blocked? If not I'll have to see if the effect persists to other programs, I don't expect it to but there's always a chance. I don't want to try Smash Bros because I know it reboots the system to launch, but I've got other stuff I can try. Sleep mode hasn't stopped it and turning the 3D slider off and on doesn't break it either.

Real-world courtroom logic has no place in Ace Attorney games! And to prove it, I will show that the true perpetrator of assault --- is you!
Ah dang, you can't take any screenshots of the streetpass plaza. Couldn't even take a screenshot of the home screen with it suspended, which still showed the extended 3D in the background...Nintendo thought of that and doesn't let you take screens of the home screen when games are suspended (because that would let you take a pseudo-screenshot of literally anything).
When I exited out of the plaza and went back in everything was back to normal. Ah well. I guess I could've taken some photos but that's too much trouble for a minor neat thing.
Even on the title screen of Warrior's Way, I could see beyond the borders, there were little black areas in the corners but I could see the clouds rolling in over them. It's like...when you resize your browser window on an old flash game and can see stuff off the edges.
I had a sorta-similar problem with my launch aqua blue 3DS years ago. I dropped it and somehow the 3D was uncalibrated until I bopped the screen from behind a few times.
That should be just fine. Any solid Class-10 card at 32 gigs or less should be just fine.

The AA series is meant to parody the Japanese legal system, and very much adheres to those rules. The burden of proof is on the defense, not the prosecution. As such, they have a 99% conviction rate.
So yeah. It generally does have logic and I am shocked that they couldn't tell the difference between assault and fucking battery.

Watched an unboxing for the new 3DS LL and god damn that glossy metallic blue is sexy. It comes out in Australia this year, but I'll most likely get it some time next year because I don't really need it just yet. It would be cool to have a C stick for Smash bros, but since the Wii U version will already have that, that'll have me covered.
Hopefully next year it will have limited edition colours, such as purple or red

You're thinking of the tort definition of assault. Criminal assault is different in many jurisdictions.

I'd also be fine with SNES purple buttons, since that's what the colors are evoking in Japan, anyway.
