I had the same experience of not liking any MH I played until the 3DS version. And even then, it took a while. I bought it because of people in here taking it up and decided to give it another go. Had to play solo, because no online, and no friends who have 3DS or like MH. So when I purchased it, I tried and still couldn't get into it. I felt the same way I did every other time I tried it. Then one day I gave it another shot, and decided to play through the agony, for lack of a better word. I believe it was after I killed my first G. Jaggi that it finally clicked and just immediately sunk it's teeth into me. I finally got why everyone was talking about this game. And now I can't wait for 4. Online multi will be great for me as I still lack the necessary ingredients for local play.
Went to Target at 8AM, leaving work to do so. They only had 5 MMN3DS. There were already 10 people waiting at the door, and some of them had been there for hours. I'm so mad.
I either need to get less crazy, or much more crazy. This middle ground isn't working out for me.
To rub salt in the wound, I paid $18 sales tax when I bought the regular edition, when I could have waited until I was back in my home state and paid nothing. Why did I do that!?
Got my pretty red NEw 3DS XL! Stopped at Target on the way to work. When I arrived at the electronics section, there were half a dozen people and one poor employee trying to decide how to split the 3 MM versions they got amongst them. Fortunately for me I had not interest in the MM version (honestly, I find the design pretty meh, but then while I like MM it's always been mid-tier for me among Zelda games). So, I got my Red one, paid, and left as they were deciding if putting names in a hat would work. Lots of angry faces, I really do feel bad for the employee
Know how I said that my MH N3DS wasn't getting here until next Wednesday? Well, that's technically true. One of them is going by UPS Ground.
The other one, that I didn't know I'd gotten until I checked an old email as I do periodically and it's the one linked to my Gamestop power card, is in San Diego right now via Next-Day Air. I thought I'd cancelled the first one when I went into the store to order it after confirming the validity of the pre-order offer, which then also explains the slight price discrepancy between the one I ordered online and the in-store purchase. Apparently that cancellation did not occur and I will have two MH N3DS editions. Normally I'd return one but I'm sure one of my friends will be happy with me since it vanished pretty quick.
Thinking about it, I think its partly making something limited thats actually limited (I can still go buy that 100 dollar version of Halo Reach at my Walmart) and everyone bitches and moans about Nintendo so much maybe they decided to play it safe with production numbers. Its easier to go to shareholders with "we're selling more than we're making!" than "we've sold 2/3s of our stock!"
Doesn't matter if that 2/3s makes them filthy rich, because a typical short-sighted investor is going to say "why didn't you sell the other third?"
My Majora's mask system shipped, my Majora's Mask game did not. Apparently it's on backorder at the store I ordered it at (same place I ordered the system). I am very tempted to cancel my physical copy of MM and just download it. The only reason I haven't yet is because my brother wants to borrow my MM when I finish with it.

I was at Target in the 9 degree weather this morning, They only had 2 Majora systems. I was number 3. Picked up a black one instead.
My target as I was told only got one MM system in, and there was a guy that had been there since 5:30am in zero degree weather. It's all yours, pal.
First in line at Best Buy, in the cold, for half an hour. Store opens, am disappointed to find that they got zero MM systems.
It's really *fun* when LE means there are like 1000 systems across the entire country.
I'm sure you all saw this already, but Best Buy sent Majora's Mask cancellation notices out by mistake. If you happened to have gotten one, you'll be getting MM for free and also 2 day shipping.
I wish I'd ordered a copy from them! But I guess I have to settle for my $50 off n3ds from them for cancelling my MM edition.

Kinda wish this would happen to me. My Best Buy order is still pending but should ship out today but won't be here until at least Wednesday.

Is anyone here NOT getting the N3DS? You guys are fanatical and I love you all for it.
Call me cynical but if Nintendos past track record is any indication, we've got 2 years at most until they launch the successor to the 3DS. I love the eye tracking and improved load times but I struggle to justify the purchase.
Between my PC, Wii U, PS4, 3DS and my recent iPhone 6 Plus purchase my gaming time has been stretched thin. I'm starting to pine for the simpler times when I could only afford one console. Argh! First world problems, right?
Despite my struggle, there's a hole burning in my wallet. If I can go out and buy MH4 and walk away without a N3DS as well, I'll be in the clear... but it's gonna be hard.
I'm pretty pumped for MH4. I got MH3: U on digital sale last year and put a couple dozen hours into it. I had never played one before and the gameplay totally clicked for me. I put the game down partway though because MH4 was on the horizon. I didn't want to oversaturate myself when a superior version was just around the corner. Looking forward to going online, I didn't bother with MH3.
Truly, you can get just about any skin you want. I know collectors want these things for collections sake, but if it's the artwork you're after... Check out https://www.decalgirl.com/

I've decided not to get it for now for both me and my son. I'm holding off until the first major new title releases for it - like a Zelda/Mario or especially Pokemon. I'm slightly worried it's going to be the next DSi where the exclusive game library ends up extremely limited. I'm pretty happy with my 3DSXL and my old PSP fat for my portable needs...probably e3 game announcements will really shape when/if I upgrade.
I might have picked it up if I didn't just buy the Smash Bros. 3DSXL, since I was hoping to go bigger from my vanilla 3DS. But as it is I'm not hopeful there will be too many games that require/benefit from the beefier hardware.

I'm also abstaining. Maybe if the smaller size n3ds comes out over here.
I'm holding because as much as I love my 3DS, I just don't use it that much. My wife and I bought a set of XLs instead of buying a WiiU and then ended up being kind of disappointed with the amount of games we wanted and buying a WiiU 6 months later anyway.

Thinking like that means you never buy anything, because the Anything 2 is going to be out in a year or two.
I don't buy these things on the promise of stuff that isn't there yet, but if there's enough right now to justify it, I'll grab it.
I am going to be getting a N3DS soon, but that's mostly down to the Y button on my XL getting downright unreliable. I'd have just replaced it with another XL before now if I hadn't known this was coming.
I just haven't decided which size I'm getting (that's right, I'm in the UK, if the US would like to complain, I'll say it's payback for you guys getting Chrono Trigger 12 years before we did). Have to actually try them out in a shop and see which I prefer to hold.

Incorrect. It means that I can skip the Anything 2 if the Anything 1 is still working fine for me, and pick up the Anything 3 later when the Anything 1 is really outdated.
I mean, people do this with phones all the time. New phones come out constantly. Some people jump at every revision of their favorite, others let a few go by until they really want/need a replacement. And considering that the n3ds still plays all the same games (minus, what, 2 so far announced), the phone comparison is feeling really, really accurate.

I should buy more games for it, honestly.
And were you then disappointed with the amount of games on WiiU? =p
EDIT - I say that sort of in jest now because in my mind I always think WiiU doesn' have any games, then I look at my library of WiiU games and I realize I have a fair many, and there's several I want that I've yet to get (such as Pikmin 3, Bayonetta 2, and Wind Waker).

Eh, I understand what you're getting at but it's an incremental upgrade and if you consider Nintendo's history, the last incremental upgrade in a systems lifespan is the least supported of the bunch.
As a previous poster said, it's like phones. I typically skip at least 1 generation before upgrading, which is exactly what I would be doing here. Except the next time it'll be a whole new system, rather than a small upgrade.
My 3DS XL has served me well and still functions perfectly without a single scratch on it even after hundreds of hours of play. I suppose if it was wearing out I would have a different opinion but I really want to hold out for a new system and bank on backwards compatibility for any N3DS exclusives. Nintendo has an excellent reputation when it comes to backwards compatibility, here's hoping they keep it up.
