I held off on shooting Skullface. That was a pretty satisfying scene. I believed Huey though, when he said he wasn't working with XOF by choice... now I'm not so sure. It seemed like he put Skullface out of his misery instead of revenge.

Also, what's the deal with missions 32-50? 32 was a new mission, but the next two are just harder versions of missions I already did. Is that going to be a thing going forward?
Yeah, that Skullface scene was awesome. That was the death he deserved after what he did to Chico, Paz and all those Africans he experimented on. Fuck that guy.

As for Huey, you weren't suspicious when we suddenly found out he was holding out Skullface's base from everyone? I bought his bullshit at first, because being a naive idiot is perfectly in line with his portrayal in Peace Walker.
I don't know, I guess I just wanted to believe. His interrogation scenes were pretty rough... felt bad for him.

It seems to not be well telegraphed. I was sat around on the road wondering if the transport was even coming. I had the completely wrong loadout for the mission so the truck managed to get all the way to Kinziba camp and was driving away while I was still struggling to sneak through the camp so I restarted. Second time I went straight to the second outpost, got rid of everyone, put down some C4 and a D-Horse, blew the first vehicle in the convoy, sneaked round the convoy, fultoned the truck and jumped into the remaining tank thing. But even at full pelt over a straight area, you cannot outrun the Parasites, it's just a case of hoping you get to the end of the hot zone before they destroy the car at which point mission is complete and the skulls mysteriously abandon you.

I'm gonna love the excuse for why these things aren't in use in modern MGS, because they'd give the Revengeance cyborgs a run for their money.

    I completely cheesed the mission.
Sprint on D-Horse to the east part of the airfield where the Truck is stationed, climbed over the fence, fulton the truck, called the chopper and sprinted out of there. The skulls won't hit you if you keep racing on D-Horse.

    Did this one last night.
I C4'ed the first vehicle near the mid checkpoint just west? of the point where you picked up the intel. I had cleared out the people in that checkpoint first. I was close to where the C4 went off, tossed some smoke grenades at the second tank, snuck up and fultoned it. Then the skulls came out. I tossed some decoys away from the truck, kept up the smoke grenades until i could crawl to the truck and fulton it, then stood up and ran. The skulls came after me, but I then pulled out the grenade launcher and took them out from behind cover. it was close but the bad guys in the jeep at the back of the convoy never got close enough to see us, they just milled about near the jeep.

I don't see what all the fuss is about in this mission
I got to the airfield, climbed the fence, and got near the truck. The skulls came out, but there's a tank there. Two of them. Hopped in, shot them. Wasn't that hard? Also, I had quiet with me and she never shot them once.

Does anyone know how long the effect of supply disruption combat deployments last for? So far the guards haven't been using a lot of anything that really gives me a lot of trouble but that could change if I start becoming consistently successful.

I'd say about half my missions end up going off the rails in some way. Like taking Quiet along to build up buddy bond level but her sniping a guard I was choking out in reflex mode and suddenly people know something's wrong.

Or what happened in the Viscount mission last night (No story spoilers, but some mechanics of the mission mentioned).
Never got anywhere near close enough to save the first prisoner. Managed to chain tranq the guards preparing to execute the next two prisoners but get spotted a few times and keep having to tranq more guards minus one too far away that I had DDog just kill. Everyone still alive gets fultoned out.

Having learned just how often I'll have something go wrong, I attached C4 to the AA radar and a power generator when I came across them. I eventually follow the guards to the last prisoner but still haven't made positive ID. I have a bit of a brain fart and don't neutralize the patrolling guard outside their hut but it didn't matter since I poked me head out just a little too far and get spotted. I'm too far away to CQC them all before one of them starts shooting but do knock out each one in the shack. I figure that if this still isn't the prisoner I need I've already eliminated most of the guards and the rest are about to come running anyway. I trigger the C4 I'd planted and call in copter support when I start taking too much damage. Miller of Ocelot made a comment about guards having helmets though I didn't notice since they don't protect much against automatic fire. I move my original 4 targets out of the shack, the Viscount gets IDed, everyone still alive gets fultoned out again but this time it's a much quicker process.

what happens if you don't shoot skull face? I thought I would have some battlefield compassion / end the drama and just pull the trigger, shoot him in the face and be done with the BS. Boy was I shocked when BB and Kaz had some PTSD phantom limb flashbacks and shot all of skull mans limbs off and then dropped the gun and told him to kill himself, that is the exact opposite of what I wanted and expected. Think my horn grew from that. :( still after Kaz and bb walk away Huey puts him out of his misery which kinda makes him more of a hero than what I wanted to accomplish

Anyways, still on 32ish cause I decided to screw around. Overall, this game man. I read some spoilers about stuff I have already gotten past and I am just amazed at how differently the encounters and strategies play out from what I'm reading and what happens to me in a mission.

I feel like it's an in-game day, but it also seems to have some other reset mechanics (like if you disrupt supplies but then aren't sniping dudes in the head, they won't deploy countersnipers for you to have to disrupt supplies again). But I must be all over the place because suddenly there were like 10 different disrupt missions.

All I have is supply disruption and recruitment missions. My waiting room has 50 guys sitting in it. I have started only fultoning people with A and A+ stats because I literally don't know where I can even put them all. And the game still only gives me B-E recruitment missions.

I'm at mission 15 (apparently doing too many side ops) and haven't been given a FOB option yet (probably because I was mostly offline because it wouldn't connect and then I actively avoided connecting to speed up menus). I need a deadly mission to send 60 of my most bravest, lowest skilled recruits on. I am hoping the FOB will let me dump a bunch of spare, low-stat guys off doing grunt work mining some random offshore sea and have them get sniped by some cheaters infiltrating my bases.

Getting super fucking tired of the shitty scripting and bonus objectives in this game. Spent 90 minutes trying to overhear all 4 interrogations in Lingua Franca and it just won't give it to me. I've heard them all so many times, sat around for ages waiting for these fucks to move slowly between each prisoner. I've been 15m away from each one and heard every word and no objective complete ever pops up.

I used a smoke grenade once on a mission and afterwards there was a disrupt option for gas masks. The threshold for some of the adaptations may be pretty low.

I just replayed that mission yesterday and while it was a bit of a rush to get the first couple, it was pretty easy to get the rest once I knew where they were. The two priorities are the mountain pass and the jeep ones. After that you can take your time getting the one held in the Palace jail, one in the barracks basement, one in the river (underneath the Palace-side bridge at the start, at the end of the river later on) and one in the desert (right beside the helicopter extraction point at the start, on top of a hill under a tree later on). I'm guessing it's the desert one you're having trouble with? I just equipped my NVG and followed the path she was initially on, she shows up eventually.

Well, I "finished" the game last night (in terms of story content).

Some thoughts under the spoiler (huge end-of-game spoilers):
It's a Metal Gear game through and through, down to the third act meta twist that, like MGS2 before it, positions the player as the character. I'd seen a huge number of complaints from people starting the game that they'd spent ages making a dude in the avatar creator at the beginning, only to find out they had to play as Snake. I really liked it.

Other things I liked: the resolution to Paz's "return", the music selection, the switch to tapes instead of talking head cutscenes. If anyone tries to claim this game isn't a Metal Gear game, I will just point to the Hamburger tape chain. Speaking of which, I really like how Code Talker was created as a character - I like that he goes from serious discussion on the erasure of the Native American culture and language by white colonialism in one breath, to Neal Stephenson-esque reveals that parasites gave humans language, to talking about delicious burgs.

None of it makes any sense, of course, but I think a Metal Gear game making sense outside its own internal logic would be the clearest sign of the end of days we could ask for.

10/10 game of the year all year every year.

for those who can't read the spoiler, here's a fun bug I found in the game:

god the way this game is setup sometimes is just so awful

I've been forced into a mission from nowhere, didn't deploy with any equipment because I was free roaming. And now I have to complete a massive battle with a single weapon, I can't quit, I can't abort. And every time my ammo runs low it automatically charges me 22,000 for a supply drop full of stuff that is useless except for that one weapon. And I keep dying, and I've lost like 150,000 GMP and I'm about to go into the red and there's nothing I can do because I'm not allowed to do anything else until this mission is finished.

Oh, so those deployment missions actually have that effect?

Shit... I should actually start paying attention to my deployment options as that sounds super useful. I've just been slumming it with CQC and co-ordinating tranq leg shots, blowing up supply of helmets would make things just as easy as it was before

You know those icons on the map? They represent the enemy level of readiness or preparedness to various tactics, basically their level of response. They correspond to the deployment icons. So the target symbol is for sniper rifles. The gun symbol refers to a number of things. As their responsiveness increases the icons go from grey to white to pale red to dark red. Dark red they basically maxed out.
Use them to decide which deployments you need.

If you want to cheese it, do a single mission with the chicken hat on. It resets everything back to zero after one mission with the chicken hat.

Sell some resources. You get more for selling stuff you've collected than it cost to extract so its always a profit.
Can't help you with the mission design though.

If you're at the part I think you're at you can either drop supply drops on people, or should be able to get enough free space that you can call in air drops on your own (I don't know of any other areas where the game stupidly transforms a side-op into a mission). I think you're at the power station (or at least the mission that starts from the back of the power station), in which case you should have a few options available anyway:

    1. Grab some guns from other people. If you're dying that much you might as well go loud. There's plenty of people around with guns you can grab. Potentially even rocket launchers, shotguns and machine guns.
    2. You can airdrop alternative loadouts. Drop one more suited for your mission (...ideally you haven't just been using and overwriting Loadout 1). You can also drop individual weapons if you need something specific. As far as I can tell, the game refunds you when you pick up the items where your ammo is already full.
    3. Call in air support. Artillery and chopper miniguns for everyone. The 5000 GMP for losing a chopper is not too excessive (although if you have more stuff upgraded it could cost more; not sure). You can only get an 'A' ranking, but so what.
    4. Use the chicken hat.
    5. Go stealthier and turn on Reflex mode if you turned it off. If people aren't on alert you should have a fair amount of time to even run up and grab people or CQC multiple people in quick succession. Wait til nightfall/use the cigar to speed up time until it's night if you need extra assurance.
I've heard some people have had trouble with the end boss part. Just lead the boss back into the base, sprint over the hill. Try to hide and lose the alert and get to your chopper in an opening.

At least, that's what I did. Some people have said it has bugged out for them.

I heard about the S+ Rank ladies, looking forward to those! :D

I currently use Amber Fox for all my Side Ops (besides the one which seemed to obviously segue into a Main Op) because her face tattoo is just too badass (and it doubles as the Kojipro logo!)

Oh my GOD, KOJIMA! You MAGNIFICENT bastard.

I'm in stitches right now guys, seriously, the BEST surprise. Kojima is a maniac. I'm double spoilering this.
Did you input your actual birthdate for Snake when you started the game?
If you do, the Diamond Dogs crew trolls you with a fake base attack, and throws you a surprise birthday party when you arrive.

Just, Kojima, thank you. Shine on you crazy diamond.

Jesus christ. Mission 22 is the worst fucking thing.
Is this what FOB missions are like? cause YEAH. That's a good reason to never do them, because this is the worst mission in the game so far.

Every time one of you guys talk about how you've reached end game, I look at my 28-hour save file in which I've only reached Mission 15, and I think to myself:

    How?

I know, I'm a dozen hours in and I'm only to mission 11.

FOB is heavily favored towards the defender, to an extent that I think isn't intentional. I mean, it makes sense, since they're the ones who actually have something to lose, but as it stands the attacker is climbing uphill like crazy to get the job done and get out with a bunch of stuff - assuming the player comes to defend, but if they don't it's comparatively easier.

Rami is presumably talking about Episode 45. Which is in fact the worst mission in the game.

    If so:
As Rex described above, when the mission loads, air drop a new loadout before approaching the palace. I used the Automatic Grenade Launcher and the Grom supplied by the mission, along with ATB Mines and a Honeybee for the helicopter. Also, Battle Dress.

As far as I can tell, the mission is very buggy and tanks will occasionally be invincible from your attacks and Quiet will only attack enemies that you have marked and only if she is hiding on top of the palace. There's a checkpoint after the first round of crap, and you have a brief time to lay mines in the road.

Sometimes you'll get a sandstorm and can run out to fulton tanks instead of blowing them up, though it's pretty easy to get killed while doing so.

Ummm.... Yeah. If you're like me, your gear is possibly way underdeveloped, so the mission is pretty frustrating and tedious. And mostly just a matter of luck.

    FOBs would be great if:

    Cheaters didn't exist

    Defenders couldn't defend themselves

Then it would, essentially, be a 'create your own MGS' level kind of thing and it would own
