Miller needs to tell my what objectives he wants accomplished before I go on missions.
"Get the truck". So I fulton the truck, grab some tanks/IFVs and then ride out like an epic badass on top of a materials container as the enemy looks on in despair below. But that apparently didn't accomplish the mission. You got your truck Miller; what more do you want.
(in other news, I don't think you can exfil the hot zone in missions by riding out on a container)

You can, I've done it. It's my favourite way to get out quick
could you fulton the truck then get on that and fly away with it?
I didn't do that, but I did fulton it and then go to a nearby crate and ride off on that. But I didn't complete the mission (didn't fail it either). Now It's still in my mission list as an available mission with 3 completed objectives (even though I can't see them). So I assume there's something truck-related I have to wait for before I can leave, if people are saying you can exfil missions that way.

I think on that kind of thing you actually have to do it the normal way. Probably. That mission is dumb and told me exfiltrating via helicopter even after I fulton'd the truck would count as leaving the objective though so who knows.
I mean bipolar doesnt even come close. His descriptions of the missions are so massively liberal oriented but generally end with 'shoot the fuckers in the face' conservative solutions. The mission with the 6 soldiers you have to eliminate...
First hes like 'snake, theres your target. hurry and kill em snake, the cameras rolling.' Then you decide not to kill them and hes like 'You have to make sure NONE OF THEM GET HURT'. SNAKE DON'T LEAVE THEM BEHIND!!!'.
The camera is rolling for his client (the general that wants them killed)....they send the video to the client, he thinks they are dead, they get paid.
He doesn't want the kids to get hurt on the exfil....

I tried out a thing with quiet. Kind of surprised it worked!
Yep. I'd post a lot of the speculation, data mining, and teasers that have been floating around 4chan and later reddit/etc, but they contain massive spoilers.
But hey, we'll find out in 1-2 days depending on tinezone.
I'm dying to know more about this, but I only just finished mission 42. Is there a non-spoilery way to explain at least why the belief in this announcement itself is so strong? I mean, where did the precise date come from?
Loved the infiltration into a fortress, with music giving very vague hints of the MGS theme in one part. Really, really loved this one and managed to do it (with some restarts) as a clean infiltration.
And onto the Metal Gear fight, whoa! That was something! Took a few tries, but managed to pull it off rather OK.
The whole scene with Skull and Miller (I didn't pull the trigger) was amazing.
Huey is still fucking insane, and Eli is getting creepier. And why the heck do we have a chlorine pool out in the open?
My Battle Gear is complete, and they tell me it goes out in deployments as usual in the iDroid, but I can't seem to find anything that would hint at that option. Where is it?
And (almost finally), dismantling nukes: where do I even get the nukes? FOB invasion?
Also: does anyone know if completing all the sub-objectives in a mission is required in one go when replaying?
And another question (Quiet):
So, you can kill her in that cutscene after the fight? (M11) And that's that? She won't show up at all?

The date comes from an image in a twitter post kojima made. The connection has to do with 1984 (the book). I'd say it's tenuous but I'd be happy to be wrong.

You do not have to do all optional objectives in one go, this is actually impossible on some mission I'm pretty certain.
For the rest
The battle gear deployment seems to just be a regular combat deployment, but you'll need to beat the previous important ones first (the ones marked with a yellow dot). I haven't done the (first?) battle gear mission yet because it's S rank difficulty and I won't send my best guys out on a 50% success rate.
Nukes are online only. I don't know but I think having a nuke means you can infiltrate someone without giving them a retaliation wormhole to attack you back. But also if someone infiltrates you that could dismantle one of your nukes.
I haven't used any, but I would point out that I reached 'Hero' status and this apparently allows me to ignore the deterrent effect nukes have. So I would say they aren't worth the cost to build.
And yes, Huey is a slimy, slimy arsehole. That scene where he shoots Skullface and shouts 'revenge!' is so phony. I thought it was clear he's trying to bond with Snake and Miller by acting like he has suffered as much as they have but it comes off so insincere and they both look at him like he's the most pathetic person in the world.

I think the one shot that sums that up perfectly is that one with the coffee mug. Huey on the side of "I:heartbeat:DD", then it switched to the other side with BB and the actual DD emblem. I loved that scene.
I prolly need to try and not follow this thread so closely, as it's getting a little too sploilerish for me. (I won't to discover most of the "Oh shit!" moments myself, and only after that check up on all the cray-cray this game lets you do.)
But first I just want to say I love this game so much.
Never been a MG(S) fan. Not because I didn't like the games, but because I just never played them (outside of an hour or two of the NGC remake).
and while it's a couple of pages too late to be relevant to the discussion in the thread,
just thought I'd drop this link in here for the next time the topic is brought back up.

WOW...that was something. Man they really did want to drive that point home huh? So irredeemable...I'm still in shock that guy was capable of some nasty shit. Poor Hal.

I hated Randolph's voice work for this game at first. Thought he sounded amateur in comparison to the new guys, too theatrical and like the MGS of old. But once it all started falling into place, that it was the character being over the top dramatic, not the VA? Daaaang. Good work Mr Randolph.

There are some adaptations beyond equipment. I've had some soldiers act like they're surrendering during a holdup before turning around with a knife.
I don't know how you do that if you haven't already played it through once. When you get to the end what choice do you have but to kill everyone? The chopper gets wrecked so fast, even more so when the enemy helicopter turns up. I eventually got offered the Chicken Hat for failing so many times. I eventually ditched DD as I no longer needed him finding enemies for me, dropped in Quiet who helped a lot and a launcher to wreck the enemy gunship. My chopper was still in flames when I loaded the kids aboard.

If it stays red, they're gonna turn on you

I fultoned everybody in that mission before going into the mine because I knew something was gonna happen.
I also called down a rocket and blew the crap out of the chopper first.
After mission 16 I could smell the bullshit miles away.
After that some dudes still spawned at the river we had to escape by, but I dealt with them pretty easily since they came in pairs. I did have to charge a couple of pairs and use reflex and my rubber bullet automatic rifle to pop a bullet in each face, which wasn't hard.
Took something like two hours to do that mission, but the number of prisoner extractions got me an S rank.

I kind of wonder what happened to the guy. In Peace Walker, he didn't come off like a complete psychopath, and he clearly isn't that good of a liar. Definitely feel less bad about certain events later on in his life now.
That Strangelove recording is excellent. She continues to be probably my favorite character in this series.

he probably did genuinely try to get the inspection stuff to happen because he was trying to help. But he's an idiot and didn't tell anyone, thus letting XOF fuck up the base. That is almost certainly his fault. Everything he does after that is from guilt. He's angry because he knows he's a genius, but people just keep using him and treating him as some piece of garbage. He knows he's smarter than everyone (in some ways) but can't do anything about it. His legs compound that problem, he has a huge obvious weaknes he's ashamed of. He tries to be heroic and help Snake and crew but is the biggest coward. He snatches at every opportunity to look good or defend himself even when it's wholly inappropriate because he's just so desperate. I think he's the best written character in the game.
