Plan C is Blacklist? Like, if only 1 other person shows up?
Sounds to me like it has 2v2 and eventually 4v4, considering we had a hard time filling 6v6 last week, I don't see how it's that out of the question.
It's why I had the idea of coming up with a couple games. It's easy to vary it depending on turn out and if people are into one more than the others, it's not like they can't throw their own group together at the same time.
I can see myself spending a lot of time with this queue function. I kind of wish it brought up a Netflix-like review queue of games you have already played as well, and even games not on Steam, to get an even more complete picture of your tastes.
Edit: I wonder if we can create a curator that will auto publish reviews from PAers in the Steam PA group? It looks like NeoGAF has a thing, but I'm not sure how that's curated.
Edit 2: Ah, it looks like you still follow/not interested games you already own from their store page, but not from the Library screen.
And what is with Valve's inability to use the width of my monitor? It drives me nuts when websites are designed with fixed widths that leave big gaps of wasted space on both sides. Seriously, Valve, widescreen monitors are the standard now, not some newfangled thing.
Because packing the entire width of the screen with stuff actually tends to make it harder to read, not easier.
While I disagree, they don't even have to pack more stuff in. Scale things up? Make stuff (and fonts!) bigger. Use that space instead of letting it hang there looking empty and dumb like my coworkers on Monday morning.
Failing that, I'd still prefer more "cramming" than scrolling myself. More left-to-right eye movement and less scrolling up and down just makes sense to me.
Take the featured section from the top and instead of featuring one thing at a time, put two things side by side. Or three (seriously, Valve, 3 is not a terrible number).
Instead of "new releases" "top sellers" "upcoming" and "specials" being put into one section with 4 different tabs, spread them out - why have all this other "stuff" everywhere and then put tabs on that section?
As it is now, I have to scroll down the equivalent of a full page to get to the new releases and that's where I want to start. Just way too much wasted space. On that note, has anyone found a way to get rid of this "Curator" section? Every time I refresh the store page there's even more of them wasting room above new releases, and I honestly could not possibly care less what NeoGaf is recommending, for instance.
Yes, I'm feeling negative. This whole design is just tragically bad.

I was just coming in here to say that I think I'm going to end up sinking a lot of time into the queue. It says there are 12 games, but really, it just keeps going! There was a period of time when I spent more time going through greenlight than actually playing the games I have. This could be a lot worse.
Also, thank you to @JaysonFour for a code for some exclusive gear for Gauntlet!
Might I suggest Risk of Rain or Bulletstorm for Friday Night Game Night one of these days/nights?
Of course! Suggestions are always welcome! Most of the game selected thus far have been because a lot of folks already own them, they were recently (or currently) on sale cheap, or were FTP. We did, after all, play Tomb Raider...
HOLY SHIT I HEARD SOMEONE MENTION FARMING SIMULATOR 2015 AND CAME AS FAST AS I COULD.
if you know what I mean.
No but seriously. Farming sim 2014 was amazing fun, relaxing, really a great thing. I cannot wait for 2015 to hit a pricepoint I can afford. It'll be aweeeesome. We need to have a farming sim 2014 game night and just get some work DONE.
You're going to have to tell us more than this.
I mean, we all pretty much know that Euro Truck Simulator 2 is awesome, and has virtually no right to be. I'm assuming this is comparable in an incredibly European kind of way, but could you please elaborate?

I found a key for Cortex Command in my humble account. Here guys:
I also have Origin keys for Medal of Honor, Mirror's Edge, Burnout Paradise and Crysis 2: Maximum Edition. PM me if your interested! Also, Tropico 3 for Steam
I remember that we were talking about starting our own curator group? To quote:
How can I be a Steam Curator?
Any Steam Community group can become a curator. By default, the officers of all groups have permission to make recommendations as a curator. To get started, go to a Steam Community group that you are an officer of and click the 'Curator' tab.
So I noticed they put quake live on steam sometime last week I guess? Makes it a bit more accessible to me, so I loaded it up... I forgot how fun quake was. God damn we another arena fps, and to get off the fucking battlefield already... I want my rocket launchers and flak cannons and rail guns and lightning shafts.
There will be the new UT. Not for a while, probably a couple of years, but it's already looking very promising.
There's already an alpha-ish kinda thing that you can download if you're signed up to the unreal engine forums... it feels a bit like UT3, but not quite as heavy.
Through some wheeling and dealing I ended up getting a Corsair H60 closed loop watercooler for $8 out of pocket. It arrived today and is now installed. Considering I'm running a 55w i3 at stock and we have left the sweltering heat of summer behind I really don't need anything more than the stock air cooler, but for that price I couldn't say no.
I'm idling at 28c but I want to test my load temps. Which games on Steam are particularly CPU-intensive?

I got a version that was out about a month and a half ago. I'm sure there's been a newer release since but it felt good. Really good.
I just found three more first person puzzle games thanks to this. (I didn't add one to my wishlist because the music choice in the trailer turned me off big time.)
Is it possible to tell Steam that it's really, really terribly wrong about what kind of games I'm interested in?
The tags it suggests for me:
Open World (I don't really care one way or another)
Fantasy (something of a very slight plus)
MOBA (while I play DOTA 2, I have absolutely no interest in trying any other MOBAs)
Moddable (the only mod I have installed for any game is the high resolution texture pack for Skyrim - for all intents and purposes, I don't mod at all)
Multiplayer (aside from DOTA 2, I don't do multiplayer, and I tend to regard it as a reason to avoid games)
Only one of those is a positive. Two are outright negatives, and two are basically giant 'mehs.'
If I could ask for single player, story driven, RPG, and strategy, that'd be great.
Civics is not a consumer product that you can ignore because you don’t like the options presented.

So, thanks Steam Update!
Well the honeymoon lasted all of 20 minutes. Just getting a ton of longass RPG's and survival games now.

I browse maximized, not full screen. Still, I prefer whatever I'm looking at to be the majority of the screen.
If I had a machine dedicated just to Steam, I'd use Big Picture mode.

I think last light would test it well. Maybe Sleeping Dogs on ultra?

Just get Prime95. If it can handle that it'll handle any game.
"For no one - no one in this world can you trust. Not men. Not women. Not beasts...this you can trust."
I don't know if I like the new "personalized" Steam, because when you only get shown stuff you already think you might like, you don't see the stuff that is a true surprise.
Not that I ever really browsed the Steam page before. But I probably won't now.
There's already rumblings on Twitter as well of the potential shadiness of the top curators. Right now it's Total Biscuit, and if he ever chooses to "sell out", he could fetch a pretty penny for his curation lists.

Yes, because people speculating on what's actually happening in a newly-developing story on Twitter are very reliable sources.
I mean, seriously, who the hell cares if someone 'sells out' and puts bad games on their curation list? It'll be pretty damn apparent pretty quickly that they're not trustworthy anymore because there's plenty of other people who'd call them out on it. And Totalbiscuit selling out? That'd sort of betray, you know, the entire critical character he's been building for years. There's a reason him and Jim Sterling are both as popular as they are and both near the top for followed curators.
(That reason is their British accents. But also because their rooting-out-the-crap-in-the-industry persona means their brand would fall apart if they participated in the crap, which gives them a pretty good incentive to stay out of it.)

There's potential for payola shenanigans, no doubt, sure. But after that stupid #gamersgate bullshit, my knee jerk reaction is to happily ignore twittercreatures moaning about integrity from gaming journalists and personalities.

I do. Why wouldn't you? But even so, the best sites are designed to adapt to the settings of the user, wouldn't you agree?
It just keeps scrolling down...

I suspect my wishlist is going to become crazy bloated.

...people don't?
I don't mean to tell another person how to put their thing down, but man, modding is one of the best things about PC gaming.
Maybe it'll be grow on me but right now it's kind of blegh.
Multiple monitors, man.
(That said, I only ever have one either browsing or playing a game and the other playing a video. What other windows would you need?)
Let's just say when I start doing writing research I really get into it. Think TV Tropes except multiply by about ten.
One for browsing, one for working, one for gaming, one for video chat, one for a video, one for music, and another one for the inevitable BSOD.
