Has anybody participated in a public event in the last two days? I haven't come across one in dozens of hours of play.
    Yeah, they're on a timer
    http://www.destinypublicevents.com/

Sometimes it skips an event, it's not guaranteed - sometimes they are a few minutes late.. but this is a good little real-time guide if you're hellbent on doing some events.

Hmm...I ran into a Devil Walker on the moon that doesn't appear to be on that list. So, be aware that the list may not be complete.

    Preview of Patch 1.0.2

    bungie.net/en/News/News?aid=12202
The 1.0.2 patch will go live next week, and includes several changes to the Cryptarch and Engram experience. These changes guarantee that Engrams will always decode into items at or above the quality of an engram.

Only Engrams that drop after 1.0.2 are subject to this change.

    Cryptarch Changes
Cayde-6 took the Cryptarch aside and showed him a sack of doorknobs. He decoded that mystery pretty quickly.
Legendary Engrams will always produce Legendary or better quality items, including Materials or Exotics
Rare Engrams will always produce Rare or better quality items
Rare engrams will have an increased chance to produce Legendary quality items

    Activity Changes
Daily Heroics, Weekly Heroics, and Vanguard: Tiger Playlist activities will include Rare and Legendary Engrams in addition to their existing rewards

    Item Changes
Ascendant materials have been promoted to Legendary to closer associate them with the gear they are used to upgrade
Legendary Engram items that exist in your inventory will be demoted to Rare quality when the patch goes live, so decode them while you can. But let’s be honest--even if you don’t, we all know they were blues already...

    Well then.

See? That's how you do that.

Now just add matchmaking to weeklies, etc and VoG so poor, friendless saps on shitty old consoles like myself can do them.

You should add me to PS3. PSN: GruntsGhosts. I've been looking to put together the first PS3 clan raid for awhile now.

I was on a random moon bounty run (probably for a strike or the patrol missions) as well as harvesting Helium and I saw the notice pop up. Thought to myself "Oh cool, I'll go deal with that, never done that with a group of people."

Got to the place, the walker was dropped, and it started blasting. I was leveling up an 11 round Blue Hand Cannon (now 13 rounds!), so I didn't have my normal Pulse Rifle out. After a minute or two I realize I'm the ONLY GUARDIAN fighting this thing. So I buckle down cause this thing is pissing me off.

The thing eventually drops. As it is exploding, suddenly three Guardians come screaming up on their bikes. I glanced at them, reload, and summoned my own bike and left.

Prox chat would have been fun at that moment. "Screw you all, I'm going to take out a Hive position, I got stuff to do. Lazy ass Guardians, no respect for their elders these days..."

I bought the engram from Xur and got Achlyophage Symbiote for Hunter. I'm a Titan. I also levelled up my cryptarch and he gave me a purple which he turned into purple gauntlets... for a Hunter.

On the PS3, I've run around with Grunt's (and his brother), Cincitucky, and Naivedo and a few randoms here and there. But honestly, if anyone is on and is on my friend list, if my fireteam is open, join in. I'll explain what I'm up to and if I'm not doing something in particular, then I'm open to anything for the most part. If I have something I'm trying to do alone, I'll drop my fireteam to PRIVATE/NO ACCESS but that's rare.

    Ghost Fragment: Mysteries
I bear an old name. It cannot be killed. They were my brothers and sisters and their names were immortal too but Titanomachy came and now those names live in me alone I think and think is what I do. I AM ALONE. At the end of things when the world goes dim and cold or hot and close or it all tears apart from the atom up I will shout those names defiant and past the end I will endure. I alone.

They made me to be stronger than them to beat the unvanquished and survive the unthinkable and look look lo behold I am here alone, survivor. They made me to learn.

Everything died but I survived and I learned from it. From IT.

Consider IT the power Titanomach world-ender and consider what IT means. I met IT at the gate of the garden and I recall IT smiled at me before before IT devoured the blossoms with black flame and pinned their names across the sky. IT was stronger than everything. I fought IT with aurora knives and with the stolen un-fire of singularities made sharp and my sweat was earthquake and my breath was static but IT was stronger so how did I survive?

I AM ALONE I survived alone. I cast off the shield and I shrugged my shoulders so that the billions fell off me down into the ash. They made me to be stronger than them and to learn and I learned well:

IT is alone and IT is strong and IT won. Even over the gardener and she held power beyond me but the gardener did not shrug and make herself alone. IT always wins.

I am made to win and now I see the way.

Here's the link to the place I read about that theory the first time

I don't know if I agree with that assessment of that card, because of this line-
"I fought IT with aurora knives and with the stolen un-fire of singularities made sharp and my sweat was earthquake and my breath was static but IT was stronger so how did I survive?"

And then this bit from the Vex Arsenal- Line Rifle card:

The Vex Line Rifle fires high-velocity Solar particle jets. Deployed on the Hobgoblin chassis, the Line Rifle serves as a sniper weapon, pinning down targets or delivering the killing blow.

Like the Slap Rifle, the Line Rifle is a terminal weapon, although its source is much more energetic. Some believe the weapon pulls material from the accretion disk of a galactic singularity. This would imply the Vex are near - or have already achieved - access to a terrifying range of civilization-killing weapons. Others consider this unlikely, and propose that the Line Rifle simply draws from a central Vex power supply.

I'm inclined to believe the speaker in that card is some part of the Vex Mind.

Rasputin could be the Vex Hivemind. He would be alone yet strong enough to fight the darkness. Except he later sees he's still too weak and starts to worship the darkness, thus the Black Garden.

You know what's incredibly frustrating? Trying to knock 3 Gold Tier Public Events out by patrolling a zone organically, before getting in some actually fun PvP. These things are so rare, and are over so quickly, ontop of only alerting players only in their specific sub-zone, so with a little bit of bad luck, I'm not going to do any public events tonight, let alone three.

IMO, the easiest one to get is the Devil Walker in the area on Earth past the building where you get the warp drive for your ship. It pops up there every 30-60 minutes from what I can tell. Really nice to get if you have Fallen bounties.

So a thing about the Weekly: you have to be careful about who your fireteam leader is or you'll get boned.

I did the Weekly at 22 a couple of days ago. Today I recruited @Hiryu and @Fondor_Yards‌ to help me run it at 26 for more Coins. They had both done it at 26 earlier. Hiryu was FT leader.

We finish and I don't get any Coins. We figure it must be because the leader had already done the run at thay level, so no Coins for anyone. But the kicker is that when we went to run it again with me as leader (so I could get my damn Coins), it clearly showed that I would get no rewards. So we had to run it at 28. Which we did.

But I'm still out 3 coins and so am sitting one short of that lovely AR.

    Thanks, O-Bungie.

I posit that Salvage is the worst game type, unless you're looking to be stomped at the outset. I hate it so much. I played three rounds in a row, and one of my team dropped out ten seconds into the match each time. I hate the mechanics, I hate the team size, I hate the people who play it, but they put a goddamn trophy in this feculent pile and so I have to keep trying.

"Darkness" nothing, the true threat to humanity is other people.
