Also I won’t be on for a bit, power is still out due to a tornado that visited me yesterday.
At least the house is ok!
You around Dallas? I hear it was pretty bad up there
Yeah, just moved to Richardson, near Richland College.
I felt it when it passed by.
That must have been terrifying. I try and take comfort from the fact that this house is in one of the lowest areas in town (the area is kind of bowl shaped), and the house that used to be here got passed over by a large tornado back in 1902 while it's neighbors were annihilated.
A new voting contest at spawn! Name the town setting up at spawn!
Contest starts Monday October 21st 10:30pm PDT and ends Monday October 28th, 4pm PDT. Voting begins then, and ends Wednesday October 30th, 4pm PDT. There's a book by the pond inside the spawn camp with instructions. The winner of the contest gets a shulkerbox, bragging rights and their name chosen to be the new name for spawn.
Also I named the river by spawn Loamy but I hate it and it sucks butts.
I just downloaded Minecraft again on a lark. Apparently my account was created in 2010. And I haven't played since before there was XP or hunger. So it's, uh, been a while!
I'm playing the Win10 version of the game, and I'm having trouble remembering how to find diamonds. I dug a stairway down to bedrock, and now I'm poking around about... 10 blocks up from there? Is that about right?

Diamond generates anywhere lower than 16 on the Y axis. You can check your current coordinates with F3, though it might take a moment to find it in the sea of info that pops up.
edit: interesting fact from the wiki I wasn't aware of: apparently the highest concentration of diamonds appears from 5-12. Due to the generation of lava lakes, though, they're less likely to appear in the middle of that range (~8)

The bedrock edition doesn't have a key to bring up the coordinates and biome and facing and all of that info. F1 still gets rid of the HUD and F5 still switches viewpoints, but the other F keys do nothing.

Huh, didn't know that. I've only played the java version.

On console, I can toggle coordinates on in world settings.
Well, a previous map was Ispawnbul. Well, Spawnstantinople, then it was Ispawnbul, not Spawnstantinople, but its been a long time gone since Spawntantinople.
Why did Spawntantinople get the works?
Hell portal's everywhere! Homes being reduced to lava seeping craters! Monstrosities of the abyss attacking in hordes! Obsidian monoliths of doom reaching towards the sky! We fought to defend it until the very last brick fell, and then we fled the destruction of our world with tears in our eyes. But we never forget. NEVER FORGET!
Ispawnbul, ISPAWNBUL!
Decomposey on
Before following any advice, opinions, or thoughts I may have expressed in the above post, be warned: I found Keven Costners "Waterworld" to be a very entertaining film.
I've been working on setting up a blacksmith and armory. I got half way done, but I need assistance gathering materials for the rest.
160 Iron Ingots
16 Stacks of Arrows
64 Oak Planks
8 Stacks of Bread.
Thankfully Mayabird's already assisted with providing some arrows, so instead of having to get all 16 stacks we just need 8 stacks of arrows.
There's 8 people total in the guild excluding myself, and I've already donated most of what I can so there's not much left needed. Once the armory's fully stocked up, any guild members can head to the basement to gather any armaments and provisions they need, to help supplement what they already have.
Long story short, I'm making a stash of shit in case we're idiots and we all die.
The stable is ready for folks to use, it's just West of spawn. I called it Ornery Ass Stables. Anyone can leave their horse(s) there, I left signs on each stall so you can label your horse/stall. There are more signs in the front office if you need some.
There are also 3 tamed horses in stalls there without saddles that anyone can have or use, they are just labled "free" currently. I plan to offer saddles and horse armor but I haven't been able to get a master leatherworker yet.
Above the stables there is a huge amount of open space that I'm not sure what to do with yet, so if someone has ideas let me know. I haven't quite finished building up there, but I should be able to finish this evening. One I idea I had was a free exchange for low-value blocks like dirt or cobble.

Nuka, I just dropped off a singlechest of arrows. Let me know if you need more.

I tried to make a monster farm by building a large room underground, 2 blocks high and 20*20 wide with water canals leading to a lava knife. It doesn't seem to be spawning any monsters. Does this design not work anymore?
Spono, if you are within 24 blocks or further than I think 128 blocks they won't spawn. If you have unlit areas within 128 blocks that will reduce the spawn rate as well.
Not to familiar with the java mechanics, but potentially other players walking around and spawning mobs could do it. Have you tried opening up a peep hole to see if they’re spawning inside and just not moving around?

West Road is now in service!
From Unnamed Spawn Location, you can take the descending bridge down to the long tunnel (which includes secured roofed access to the nearest Dungeonhaus portal) and then to the ascending bridge and points further on, including (but possibly not limited to):
1) the cave spider grinder
2) my hole in the ground
3) a patch of tulips before the next river
4) Bahamut's monastery (under construction).
Bahamut's monastery is over halfway to the Western Sea, thus making oceanic access slightly less inconvenient. Consider a visit today!

I just realized I didn't say anything in the thread. So: the Yggdrasil Trading Post is open at Spawn! We sell a large number of valuable resources: coal, redstone, lapis, iron, gold and even diamonds! But the only payment we accept is stacks of spruce leaves. Prices in the spoiler below:

Lights are off, but I think the proximity must be the problem along with the unlit areas around the farm

Hay loft.
The Bone Town skeleton spawner spits out way more than I could use. I had extra stacks before setting the spawner up!
On a related note, I can probably donate power 2/unbreaking 2 bows to the adventure society somewhat regularly, if you're interested?

I think Enc was having some trouble earlier so it's possible something was going on with the server?
