Okay, so since moving to a new city approx. 3yrs ago with a drier climate and hard, over-chlorinated water, my skin has become quite dry, by midday it's back to normal, but as soon as I hit the shower, my skin gets murdered.
I've tried cooler, shorter showers and a variety of shampoos, conditioners and soaps with little success, and was wondering if anyone knew of dietary supplements or adjustments that can be made to aid the body in moisturizing itself adequately without substantial use of external lotions. I wouldn't mind lotions, but the dryest area of my body is my face and I get acne no matter what type of creme, balm, or lotion I use.
Also, water softener is not an option, I live in an apartment.
This or similar shower filter with chlorgon or another chlorine filter will work fine for removing the chlorine, which is probably causing you most of your problems.

I have waltzed myself into a very similar situation. As for the acne, I am really not sure.
For the severe dry skin I used Gold Balm Ultimate Healing, it worked better then my girlfriends baby lotion, Johnson and Johnson, and Aveeno.
Put it on right after your shower, as soon as you're mostly dry. Also, don't scrub yourself dry with the towel, gently pat your skin, it helps.
Drinking more water will make a bit of difference, although very small.
Dunno how much you naturally stink, but instead of showering every day, try alternating days, and clean the appropriate areas with a clean washcloth. Natural oils in your skin are there to keep it from drying out, over cleaning removes them and can make the problem worse.
