Looks like crafting has something to do with the relic step. I kinda like that they're keeping the whole thing kinda spoiler free.

After my collection from Alethia, I should have about 4mil to spend on mats and what not for whatever we need. Should be a fun ride!

    Known Issue...

In the sidequest “A Ponze of Flesh” the map does not appear when clicking on the objective “Obtain a gobmachine bangplate from Brayflox’s Longstop (Hard).

Dungeon drops a part of the relic quest then?

Well, WHM weapon is called Nirvana. That I didn't expect. BLM get Lilith's Rod which sounds awesome.

The relic quest chain appears to be the initial bread crumb which then splits into four different quests which are all pre-requisites for the last stage.

    BTW:
i115 weapons can now be gained through Shiva EX farming. Players all get a diamond dust drop which upgrades Shiva weapons to i115.

And a new proper hugging emote. Only available if you've gone through the Eternal Bonding thingy...

    Interesting....

    A Treasured Mother

Disciple of War or Magic level 50
    Mor Dhona (X:21 Y:6)
    NPC: Brangwine
Players must first complete the quests "Wherefore Art Thou, Zodiac" and "One Man's Trash."

I wonder if Alex is coming back into play? Good thing I hoarded like 50+ more of 'em.

EDIT: Actually, I bet it's the Belah'dian Silver you have to collect. My hunch stems from...

"Pieces of Belah'dian silver can now be obtained from boarskin treasure maps, peisteskin treasure maps, and unhidden leather treasure maps."

Probably from a daily dungeon quest from Brangwine, but they can be mapped as well.

Perhaps, but Belah'dian silver is also used itn he crafting of some of the new recipes it seems.

No idea what some of those new items are for though they are rather vague. On top of that it says in the notes that certain items are omitted for containing spoilers for the relics stuff so we're missing a bit of info still

Either way I've got a long day of work tomorrow so you all better figure this all out before I get home ;)

Didn't notice that. Well, I've got fishing to 50, so grabbing a few maps a day shouldn't be an issue. I wonder if the prices for them on the MB is going to go bonkers. Might be a good investment.

I agreed to help out a little bit for a friend at her cafe tomorrow afternoon. I'd rather be playing, but I can't turn down money being unemployed right now. Still, I probably have more time than most people right now. : P

Artisan tools are now VASTLY cheaper to get.

Several of the Zodiac names were expected (Excalibur, Aegis, Kaiser Knuckles, Longinus, Sasuke's Blades, Yoichi Bow), others are kind of out of left field (Nirvana, Apocalypse, Last Resort), and then there's Ragnarok, which has traditionally been a sword, not an axe.

    Hmm....

A Treasured Mother requires Wherefore Art Thou, Zodiac and One Man's Trash.

One man's trash is apparently the same daily quest giver as the alex maps. You get a bottled map. Not sure if that means it is alex related but the last quest is His Dark Materia which makes me speculate we may have need of alex or something that is similar.

Managed to pick up the relic quests and finish the delivery stuff before I had to head to work this morning. Hrm, as for relic... Well at least I'll have plenty of Soldiery and GC seals from grinding dungeons? O_O

On a totally not related to Relic note; It's nice that the ShivaEx upgrade things appear to be 100% drop for everyone, so every 5 kills you can upgrade a weapon to 115. And they're SO pretty.

Also hoping I can get people to farm Rahmoo for weapon skins, although I think everyone in my FC hates that fight except me... >.< (I don't understand why either, we do the 1 tank 2 Scholar strat so it's not like anyone other than me + the other Scholar have to pay attention really. The one tank strategy for Ramuh EX has... one tank. The tank overcharges which makes the post Judgement Bolt phase a lot easier since you only need one orb per wave to maintain which makes the whole offtank swap deal a lot easier to handle (because you don't have an offtank) in conjunction with the rolling thunders.

The double scholars are needed for Lustrate to bypass the severe healing penalty for 3 stack overcharge. Normally a 1 tank party has two SCHs and one WHM for group healing and Stoneskin spamming plus the emergency Benediction.

    Eternal Bonding prices are out.
7 Euro/ 10 USD? for the Gold package and double that for the platinum.
Here's the kicker though: It's per person. Not the set. There is the freebie version of course if you're adverse to shelling out money for a virtual wedding ceremony. The bracelets that initiate the quest are unique but are trade-able so one person can buy one, trade it to the beloved then buy another one for themselves if they want.

The gold+ packages include customisation of the procession/recession and BGM plus guest present minions and the two seater chocobo mount while the platinum would include that plus additional garments that have different dye patterns along with being more elaborate and priority in reserving the location for the ceremony itself.
The basic package would have the teleport ring, new /embrace emote and the basic garments.

    Edit:
Bah, the MogStation page is terrible in explaining the differences... The official Eternal Bonding page is much more thorough...

Sorry had a meeting! Back now...

So normally the tanks have to get a three stack from the sparks so they have the buff that prevents them from exploding to Shock Strike, but don't take more than that because additional stacks overcharge you and give a -30/-60/-90% healing received debuff. So they have to swap out every other spark spawn, and extra sparks up means that the AoE damage goes through the roof, which means everyone has to actually pay attention and know which go to tanks, which are "free," and after phase transition, which ones go for the tethered people.

Except Lustrate heals are percent based, so the tank can get the 90% healing received debuff and it doesn't matter. With two Scholars you have six Lustrates every minute, which is plenty to keep a (decently geared) tank alive. You can even bring a 3rd healer with a lesser geared tank since you'll still have four dps, or even just for learning the strategy. (I like five dps since it goes faster) The two Scholars just keep each other focused and communicate (I'm down for 20sec) their Aetherflows, the AoE healing ends up pretty easy since you'll almost never have extra sparks out and you can rotate through Eos's skills. Seriously we can just bash our faces into Succor when we have no Aetherflows, and I alternate between Roused Whispering Dawn, Fey Covenant, WD, Fey Illumination, WD, etc and our other Scholar runs Selene for damage buffs.

The tank doesn't have to be that great either; they just save big cooldowns for times when neither Scholar can Lustrate for a bit. (It happens from time to time, tank takes spike damage and we have to bomb heal them, and/or Scholars get tethered) The tank's job doesn't really matter either, Storm's Path + bigger Lustrates vs Shield Oath really works out about the same.

Anyway, what that actually accomplishes is that juggling sparks becomes trivial. There's no like "OK three for a tank on this one then someone grab the last one. Oh two got picked up now we probably wipe." Tank picks up three from the first spawn then at least one every other spawn to keep the Overcharge rolling, the rest are free for dps/healers to clean up. (we just pick up whatever spawns near us, tank will yell if he needs one) Second phase you wont accidentally "run out" for tethered people since you can grab them from every spawn instead of alternating with tanks.

Without that mechanic, all that dps really have to worry about is dealing with Chaotic Strikes appropriately, and that you just have a ranged bait one so only one is random. (We may do that backwards from everyone; I think generally the healers break out charmed people? Our healers were always better at spark cleanup since we knew when the tanks needed them and that left the dps to deal with charm.)

Also just saw what Takel said: For a one tank strat it really is super helpful to have a 3rd healer for backup, especially when you're just learning that method. With only two you can end up RNG wiping from time to time in the second half if your "active" Scholar gets Chaotic + tether or something and the tank doesn't have a cooldown. WHM's are beast at AoE healing, and they can spam Stoneskin on the tank for another percent based mitigation, and Bene gives you another emergency button. (We do use our puny cross class Scholarly Stoneskin with two healers, I totally forgot to mention) Even a 3rd Scholar gives you more Lustrates and more Eos buffs.

If you have any questions since I probably forgot stuff since this was hastily written at work, just yell!

    Relic info thread:

    http://www.reddit.com/r/ffxiv/comments/2oqp5f/zodiac_weapons_the_final_grind_factsfaqhowto/

Essentially it looks like you need items from dungeon that aren't 100% drop rate (you'll get the item on dungeon exit, not on boss kill)

On top of that you need items from company seals (80,000 seals total), Items bought with Gil (400k total), items gotten from maps (Beladian Silver from map), items from Soldiery (6400 for Sacred spring waters) and items gotten via desynthing (Desynth rate doesn't seem too bad thus far)

So it's a little bit of everything, Dungeons, Maps, Crafting, Gil, Company Seals, and soldiery.

The crafted items are 3 star,, and the desynth required is around 80ish for 90% chance. This means you need to find crafting and desynth buddies to get all the materials you'll need (or have a lot of gil and buy them from the MB)

All in all it's a lot of little things to do, and will take a bit of time but it's all very doable and fairly diverse (as opposed to just monotonous grinding of the same thing over and over)

Given what is required I fully expect to see the first weapons start showing up later today or tomorrow as there is nothing preventing people from going non stop on this. Current drop rates of items in dungeons shows people getting the item they need in anywhere from 2 to 6 runs of that particular dungeons so it's not horrendous and a few lucky people with some connections will probably have their relics done today/tomorrow.

Shiva EX is a very very good farm now with the introduction of the i115 weapons, if the 'free' i120 wrists weren't encouragement enough. It's a fairly simple encounter too once you learn the flow of the mechanics and it's rather simple to recover from a bad chain of events. I just had a farm group that went from tank dead, one healer dead, two DPS dead and slowly recovered over a bow plus staff phase into a fairly manageable kill. The stats may not be 100% ideal for some variants but you cannot argue that Shiva EX isn't a trivial farm compared to T9 for an i115 weapon

I totally expect some people in the FC to have the relic done by the time I wake up.

Not sure what the map drop rate is, but I'm glad we still have 20ish Piesteskins still banked..... Are the map drops tradeable? Are there desynthable items for every crafting class?

Soldiery actually goes surprisingly quickly if you can kidnap some casual friends and family and run them through coil turns and ex primals; almost capped them in a couple hours yesterday running people through one at a time. (I'm kicking myself right now for buying a BLM weapon that I'll never use just because I was close to capping, damn. Eh I still have 650ish Sol left)

Some people saved up 2000 soldiery in anticipation so for them it would only be another 4400, and with how many dungeons you have to run anyways (anywhere from 2-6 of each dungeon if you are lucky) that's pretty easy to get imo. Or rather you'll get the soldiery by doing the other things anyways.
