OK, so speaking of hitting level 20... now what? I understand the concept of "get Legendary loot, upgrade it" but is it really just a case of "go forth and farm after hitting the mark cap for the week?" It sounds like there's a lot of stuff being done by people that I don't have access to right now. Queen stuff is going to be wasted for me since I have like 450 points towards getting rank 1.
I guess my question is, is there something specific I should do, or do I just go hope for the best with farms?
My suggestion would be to go pick a faction to support and then do everything wearing their faction mark. You'll eventually get to rank 2 and be able to buy Purple Armor pieces from them directly. Level 3 will let you buy guns.
You could do the same with either Vanguard or Crucible ranks, but what happens there is that you earn one or the other each time you do something. If you wear the faction item, both points will count toward the faction. It's quicker to raise faction to 2 than to raise both Vanguard and Crucible rank to 2 each.
If you're not into pvp, don't do this. Faction gear can only be purchased with crucible marks.
I made the mistake of immediately repping a faction at 20. Then I had to slog my way through vanguard rep to be able to spend the vanguard marks I had capped since I don't really pvp.

also to the dudes who are always confused about what's going on in regards to events and patches and stuff, just bookmark the Destiny twitter or something. they post any news there so everyone has the exact same info you do and won't know any more than that. you don't have to have a twitter or anything, you just have to read it.

I would not be upset if ascendant materials were 20,000 glimmer each. I think that's a fair price for people who find themselves maxed out more often than not. Coincidentally, those are the same people needing more ascendent mats.

If you roll with all three fireteam members with solid arc heavy weapons and heavy ammo packs, he doesn't take long to down at all. The adds are more of a distraction.
I don't know how I'm finishing first in score/kills some crucible matches when I've always performed quite poorly in all online shooters. Maybe the community has a lot more people that are as bad as I am.
Depends on when you play fireflash. Like on sunday early nik, chip and I were playing skirmish/salvage, and getting fucking rolled for like an hour, until the bads logged on and then we did the rolling. Sometimes you get lucky with shitty players.

I got bounced due to some remote connection and WiFi issues right after trying to join you guys during the boss, and I'm still super angry about it - though I shouldn't be, because it would have been a clear that I didn't earn at all.
Also: PSN messaging being essentially broken is absolutely infuriating at this point. Destiny requires a lot of PSN messaging to communicate and coordinate (because this type of functionality is not in the game), unless people want to flood the thread re: teaming up for a specific purpose, and the messages just don't load for me right now. Phone app is the same way.

"Stay together guardians" says the Crucible announcer; pubbie number one starts jumping to the left, pubbie number two starts running to the right, and me, well, who should I follow?
And yes, they were absolutely convinced that they could kill 3 guys with a hand cannon on their own...
Ah well, the matches were over after 5 minutes each, I have my 5x2=10 Crucible marks, and a bit of Crucible rep...
Then I played a match of Control to relax and I earned a "The best around..." medal...
Yup, Control and Salvage = good for me, Clash, Rumble and Skirmish = bad
I'm not sure if I'll try to run nightfall after our raid tonight in which the PA All-Stars aka Alpha Team aka Patrick Swayze Dance Club step into the Vault for the third time to lay the almost abusive beat down onto Albert the Robot for the, count it, third time.
I kind of want to wait for the patch to hit to get in on that sweet sweet nightfall action.
We should try to complete it in less than an hour this time. See if we can speed run it.
Are we able to start it any earlier than that? If not I'm still good, just the earlier the better.
I'm alright with an hour earlier, but it's up to the rest. I was hoping to have the two hours to try and get my hunter to 28, but I can do that later anyhow.

I actually had a great round of Skirmish last night. My team just stayed with me and we all moved together, revived each other, and regrouped when we had to due to dying, etc. It was great. The fact that it was pubbies was even better/more surprising.

When I hit the glimmer cap, I just dump a bunch in to heavy ammo synth packs. They are always useful to have, especially if you happen to cover certain elements only with heavy weapons (right now I can only cover arc with a machine gun).
That was a rough first attempt on a Nightfall Strike for all of us, but it was fun, if it hadnt been for those insane Hollowed Psions we would have beaten it.
The lvl 28 Weekly Heroic down without too much fuss though, also I'm guessing it wasnt hard for you to notice, but just to clarify - I'm not a native english speaker.
Fireborn was a nice "oh shit" super to have tonight for sure.

I have the Pocket Infinity exotic bounty, so I have been watching the gunsmith like a hawk for the rare fusion rifle for the past four days. I had had two on me so all I needed to dismantle were eight of them.
When I woke up I checked my phone and it was there this morning. I rushed to the tower, started buying them... and ran out of glimmer at 5 fusion rifles.

I had bought that damn rare ship that the shipwright is selling last night for 8k glimmer.
I frantically went farming. I tried venus first, but someone was already killing everything where I wanted to be. I know you just have to be looking at the kills to get the glimmer, but I reasonably I would have been only cutting into his farming and him cutting into mine. So I went to earth and went to the new 'loot cave' spot. I had only ever really done the famous loot cave for 10 minutes or so.
And just under the wire of needing to leave for an early meeting for work, I just made enough glimmer to buy three more fusion rifles.

Also, reading this, it starts to sound like a Destiny math problem. If a Hunter needs to dismantle 10 fusion rifles to get his awesome Fusion Rifle bounty, has 2 fusion rifles on him, and is able to buy 5 fusion rifles at 1860 glimmer a piece, how much glimmer does the Hunter need to finish his bounty?
Solve this using core curricula. Show your work. follow all 108 steps or fail.

Post mortem is easy to set up. At least as a hunter, I have two grenades with lead up times that once applied will all but assure me of a kill, so all I have to do is throw a nade and rush in and die. You kill me, my nade blows you up, win win!

The Postmortem medal can absolutely be farmed. Homing Grenades (tossed as you are being shot), sticky grenades (stick someone, then get shot), low velocity Rockets (shoot a rocket at someone while being shot), etc. You can also engineer it in Rumble with friends, if you really want it. Postmortem actually is pretty easy for me to get as a bounty. I usually receive it within 3-5 PvP matches. I just play slightly more recklessly than I usually do.
Am i right in assuming that a pulse rifle with "full automatic mode" is basically going to be an auto rifle?
Because that is what i found today and it seems like it could be cool (i still have to level the gun up to unlock that ability).
No its not an autorifle, because pulse rifles still have cooldowns between bursts. So basically you can hold the trigger down and it will fully fire its bursts before running out of ammo, but it doesn't fire them in full auto.

hmm. My plan was to save up enough vanguard marks to buy a purple auto rifle today... but then this pulse rifle dropped and suddenly im wondering if I should buy armor instead for the shards.
I guess I will unlock the automatic mode and see how I like it. I mean, if I decide to buy the auto rifle and scrap the pulse rifle... I'm going to need ascendant energy at some point anyways right?
The ascendant material grind in this game is awful. The only path to getting these materials is gated behind dailies and weeklies. That includes Vault of Glass, which is the only way to get them in a reasonable amount of time.
I made multiple characters just to farm double dailies and public events (triple public events now), and even then I may only get 1 shard after several days of effort. Getting to level 28 was a giant slog, all of my upgrades have been unlocked for a week or more but gated behind the impossibility of getting shards outside of random, time gated chance.
What is even more worrisome to me is that if I find the raid set, my path to 30 is then gated again by shards. I will have to make sure and never upgrade my non-exotic armor ever again so that I can pour materials into the VoG stuff for weeks to get my light level back to where it was, much less higher.
I feel like the game is only worth playing once a week for the two strikes and vault. I'm level 28, the only way to progress is with stuff that drops in Vault. Being high level in Destiny kind of sucks.
But on the plus side VoG is preeeetty sweet.
