Fallout 3 mod recommendations?

DrezDrez Registered User regular
I wanted to install Oblivion with Guns on my MacBook Pro so I could melt people with plasma during my morning commute and decided Fallout 3 was the best option as I already completed Fallout: New Vegas quite some time ago.

I'm thinking about mods. I definitely want some kind of portable home - like the Underground Hideout or whatever. And some graphical updates that the MacBook Pro can hopefully handle (it has a GeForce 750M - not sure how that stacks up).

Any advice/suggestions?

P.S. I'm generally a purist but I no longer care about that - I'm willing to install just about anything at this point.

Thanks!

Thanks - yeah actually that's the only one I'm sure about. :) I used the UG Hideout with New Vegas too, it was great.

Also, should I use FOMM or NMM? I thought Fallout Mod Manager was supposed to be better but I heard it's dated now.

I wouldn't know, I do all of my mod installs manually.

I grabbed a couple companion mods that seem interesting. One adds Amata's cousin, a year older, meet her in the vault and escape with her. She's got a type of companion wheel as well as dialoge options, gains xp and you can pick her skills, and you can share books with her to increase both your skills, and you can setup multiple weapon/armor load outs for her.

I'll post a list when I get home.

There was some huge monster overhaul mod (Mart's?) for FO3 that was very popular and I enjoyed quite a bit. No idea if it's still functional or updated, but I bet it's on the Top Files All Time list on Nexus.

I'm so confused about how to install mods.

Generally it just involves putting 2 files into a specific folder, but I prefer to use either Nexus Mod Manager or Fallout Mod Manager (FOMM) to handle installing the mods and managing the load order.

I'd not only use Nexus Mod Manager for handling the installs and all of that, but just browse their most-endorsed list to find some good ones to install: http://www.nexusmods.com/fallout3/mods/topalltime/?adult=2
