I am not sure if you guys have seen it yet or not but there was a hidden costume update in the patch. Break out Superior Spider Man costume if you have it and check it out. Don't want to spoil it but I may now have to pony up the money for it. Makes it my favorite Spidey costume by far now.
Spoil it! Because I don't have that costume.
But I wants it.
edit: The Magneto pack is 25% off on Steam right now for some reason. http://store.steampowered.com/app/328700/?snr=1_7_7_151_150_1
$12.74 and it includes 500gs sooooo really it is more like $7.74. That is too good of a deal for me to say no to.
Not really a spoiler, but
the mechanical arms are now part of the attack animations.
Jumped on TC to try out the new Red Skull Axis One-Shot and X-23. Both are pretty weak, although X-23 isn't tuned and most of her gear isn't on TC yet. The One-Shot is just a rehash of Hydra Island with a couple new mobs.
I do often wonder why these One shots apparently take so long to create when 90% of the art assets are reused. This one basically uses Asgard snow field and Hydra. They added 2 new mobs whoopdee doo.
To be fair, the zoo was basically all new content, new bosses new enemies new map
Honestly I would really like to see small group content, yet i dont really know how they would implement it (well the old blue terms) I feel there is really little to do (as far as rewarding content) in a group context.
Overall id like to see some challenging 2-4 man content with time appropriate rewards. I've tried xdef over wave 30 and holosim over 30 and every time (about a dozen of each) the rewards have been underwhelming.
I'd be content if they'd just design some interesting encounters.
Pretty much none of the bosses in this game are interesting. Surtur maybe. The Sisters have a few tricks, but pretty much everyone else is just boring as hell. New Red Skull fight included.
Well tanking is also not really an option either as taunts apply debuffs and doesnt exactly allow for positioning mobs, let alone apply directional bosses for flanking bosses.
Given gazes track record I think their raid bosses are pretty good (particularly when comparing them to story/terminal boss encounters).
There really seems to be a lot more constraints caused by the engine which is disappointing as i doubt they will go about coding their own which given their situation is probably what they need to do in order to optimize the game (imagine being able to run a 64 bit engine which has the ability to render what appears to be concrete, cloth, vinyl with physx) as opposed to what we have now.
I frequently forget that Gaz isnt trying to generate content, rather to generate revenue streams (either via new heroes, costumes or vanity items).
I dont begrudge them having to pay the bills and put money in their pocket but the horde of filthy casuals who provide about 75% of their income seem to get 90% of their attention (numbers pulled out of my ass).
The point of creating the rotating events was supposed to be so they could dedicate themselves to fixing heroes/bugs/generating content (as the artists are pretty much constantly working new skins/costumes), and when given time it looks like they have pretty much just made additional heroes.
On average they have 4-5 different abilities. Many of them have phases and transformations and thus many more abilities. And certainly more interesting transforms than Doom has.
Edit: Heck Diablo has 2-3 complete stage transformations and multiple different abilities in each phase.

An engine update would be greatly appreciated. Blizzard did it before with WOW during an expansion. The current engine is extremely limited.
Although i do not have a desire to play D3 or some of the other fancy ARPGs i've seen, I am quite envious of their environments and especially their abilities/powers.
Seriously look at some of the abilities characters have in this Korean cash grab...err game. Check out 2:30 its ridiculously awesome.
I think someone on the official forums said it best: their shitty boss affix system leaves very little room for actual boss mechanics. All dat PC/Poison/crap.
So far I have been cruising along with Storm but I switched to Psylocke a bit last night because I realized I have her at level 20 and if I get her to 25 then all my mans get her bonus thingy.
Maybe I should get Iron Man to 25 next and try to get lots of little bonuses. Hmm.
The "optimal" way to level up fast is to get your first four characters to 60 (+30/20/15/10=75%) then everyone to 30 (+1% each), then everyone to 50 (+3% each), then everyone to 60 (+5% each). This is because of how much EXP it takes to get a character to each one of those gates...someone made a real in depth spreadsheet graph to prove it. Oh and for super optimal take Cyclops to level 60 first since he gets a synergy that gives +10% EXP. Also Scott is rad.

Holy hell that game looks awesome! 4:45, yes please! The cinematic way the bosses show up is pure quality as well. Korean games scare the crap out of me, though, 'DAT GRIND.
I finally beat Doctor Doom for the first time! It was actually pretty hard, but then, I have been playing a lot of Captain America, and he's...not exactly the best.
Finished story mode. Around level 47. Some thoughts.
Too many kinds of currency
I assume this is akin to the WoW problem, where new content gets new currency. But Marks of Odin, and Cosmic Shards, and two kinds of Spirits, and Crown of Valor on top of credits and the G system is a bit much.
Feels unapologetically softcore
The lack of death penalties, the abundance of loot, the complete lack of difficulty all combine to make the game mindlessly enjoyable, but not very consequential. I like that I can log in, splode stuff, and see loot pinatas drop...but none of it seems to matter. Hardcore Path of Exile offers a mild feeling of accomplishment (Hey, I made it through this much content without dying) while Marvel Heroes feels like you're just killing time. This is not a terrible quality. I have enjoyed drunkenly blowing through Midtown. But it doesn't feel like the sort of game where you would say, "Hey, I did X!" as some mark of accomplishment. It's just smashy fun.
They really want my money
Trailing off the previous point, they don't try to hide the fact that they want people to buy things. Storage limitation is annoying. The login screens displaying Special Deals is predictable, but still annoying. The Eternity Splinter drop rate feels about right. Frequent enough to give hope, but still irritatingly slow enough to make you consider giving them $20.
Not sure how the Social aspect works
Is there a point to parties? You don't seem to need to be in a group to tag mobs for loot, but there is still a party system. What am I missing?
It feels like the old X-Men Legend games. Log in, smash stuff, log out. Simple ARPG fun. Glad that I installed it, and will likely keep smashing stuff.
I am very curious about raid content. Does that add much difficulty, and a need for build optimization? Or is it just like Midtown farm, but more people?
Feel free to tell me the ways in which I am wrong about any of this. These are my impressions as a noob.
Really? Cause I'm watching this Diablo Vid of the bosses
On average they have 4-5 different abilities. Many of them have phases and transformations and thus many more abilities. And certainly more interesting transforms than Doom has.
Edit: Heck Diablo has 2-3 complete stage transformations and multiple different abilities in each phase.
Having played a few hundred hrs of d3 i can tell you the boss encounters are not any more fun there.... The engine they have created for it is excellent as are the graphics, but ultimately it feels (felt as i havent touched it since before the expansion) soulless, like too many executives dipping into the process to make it extremely accessible to all players, there are multiple weeks where you suspect that the devs outright hated the players, I hear its better but there is an entire thread for that.
Brevik and the development team at Gazillion are really what gives me hope for the game.
I'm aware of the 64 bit client but it fails to resolve the issue that the modded unreal engine they are running ultimately is inadequate to deliver the eye expoding awesomeness I want (and I feel a lot of players want). Ultimately unreal 4 would grant textures that look like something other than vinyl but I would really like gazillion to in house something (yes i know it would be stupid crazy expensive) but something that is catered to what they are trying to do would serve them better than licensing a better engine (e3 is tech from 2004). Still either option is a move in the right direction.
Nope, no guild stash. Basically guilds are just private group chatrooms at the moment. They keep talking about expanding guild features, but have yet to really implement anything useful.
MichaelMayhem said on stream that Cap is getting a review and they are aiming for it to be done for Winter Soldier patch in January. They did confirm he will get a new sig.
Winter soldier will have fewer weapons than other gun heroes (assault rifle, mine gun), will use knife attacks from movie, several bionic arm powers, and is heavily focused on stealth.
Hulk will be getting a new sig based on hand clap, another new move where he takes a car, rips it in half, and uses the pieces as boxing gloves.
Scarlet Witch may be getting probability manipulation but they wouldn't say what it would be used on.
Punisher's new resource is ammunition. Says you can either reload when low on ammo or if you choose to run out then you will switch to sidearm/melee.
Iceman's AEs will slow mobs even if they are immune to it. Will use some constructs. James Arnold Taylor will voice him.
Axis raid scheduled for early 2015, followed by an Age of Ultron tie-in, then chapter 10 of story mode.
Danger Room still being iterated and no date set, and Limbo game mode still slated to return. Mayhem says Danger Room will be good alternative for people who don't like to raid.
Achievements are at least another two weeks out.
Spiderverse pack will be for sale later this week.
Having tried Axis and X-23 i have to say both are pretty underwhelming.
X-23 she isnt wolverine... but you can totally build her and play her as a knock off wolvie (which i did not specing into the agility tree) however after seeing the stream it looks like movement is where the aoe is (im just used to movement being pretty bad juggs/ss/thing being exceptions rather than the rule).
Axis... I like adding a new boss, and I really wish they would show up as often as new heroes (but content vs revenue generating content).
Or worst case scenario add new heroes as bad guy encounters (similar to hulk). Rogue/Emma/Phx/an Iron Man suit/Punisher/deadpool/squirrel girl (just for giggles) would make for some amazing encounters to go along with the 'heroes' already available as bad guys TM/Juggs/Colossus/Mags/Cyke/Wolvie/loki
They can't do Magneto House of M because it was copied from from Spain's royal outfit and there was legal action against Marvel. Brevik said on stream the other day they can't use it.
I think he might be my new favorite? His Element Gun's ammo mechanic seems crazy, and I really dig that he's got a good mix of the movie and the comics represented in his powers.
Posts
Or, is there another site with updated skill trees?
Edit: http://marvelheroes.info/builds/gen/ yey. Still, would like to find some updated guides.
Welp, looks like I'm switching back to Superior Spidey
You get one for each daily shared quest, and one form logging in.
So up to four per day of you do all three quests.

Marvelbase is notoriously bad at updating. Best bet for hero guides would be to go to the official forums then into the hero sub-forums.

Brevik said no "holy trinity" because they don't want players forced into playing roles.

Also I am running the 64 bit client now. Change to the appropriate base directory.

Green (normal) difficulty raids can be done by pretty much anyone now.
Red (hard) raid takes a bit more prep work but once you have the reqs it's basically on farm for most decent heroes.

The artist essentially tracing the picture doesn't stop it from being a good costume that I want. Reality will conform to my desires.
Patch 6am PDT on Thursday for X-23. Armor event is next with some xmas stuff mixed in. Full xmas event the following week.
