You mean that cast full of actors that it did literally nothing with?

The majority of the cast had like two or three lines total, and an 80s training montage in lieu of character development.

The only good things about First Class were McAvoy, Fassbender, and Bacon.
Well the actors I liked a bunch were McAvoy, Fassbender, Bacon and Jennifer Lawrence who were the main cast so

worst bit was actually probably when they killed off one of their minority characters and turned the other evil in essentially a thirty second timespan

Also I still wish that they had incorporated Destiny and her relationship with Mystique into DoFP

First Class is a movie I liked at the time, but I like it a little less every time I rewatch it.

Hey, is there an easy to parse list of what books marvel has started and canceled in a given month. The best I can find are the soliciations, but those require me to go through them and manually check for for what titles are new and what ones are gone.

First Class was a whirlwind of stupid shit around an incredible story about Charles, Erik, Raven, and Shaw

Not that the racism of it isn't bad enough but its even worse that Darwin was actually really cool and fun.

Ya I always liked Darwin in the comics, and didn't know going in that he was in it, so when suddenly there's the whole " I'm Darwin" then shows via powers that yep it's Darwin, I was so excited.

Then that scene came, and I was like, oh ya, he's gonna do something insane with that and rescue everyone.

    and then :(

Nah, the way to do a Fantastic Four movie is to jump in after they've been heroes for five or ten years, with Franklin and Valeria already born. Take the beginning of the movie from Waid and Wieringo's first issue. Show them fighting the Mole Man's monsters during the opening credits.

And I'm saying you do that but have it be the second movie!

I guess mostly I just think a Doom movie would be cool

Yes, Doom is no one's second movie!

okay yeah, DoFP was the best X-Men movie.
Most of the stuff that puts me off about X-men movies wasn't around (much) because of the main setting. The characters were fun, interesting, and I cared about them for once.

and I was laughing my head of at the end, because they seemingly reconnected most of the movies that I dislike from even happening.

I'm still annoyed by some stuff in the movie, but it wasn't really enough to ruin the experience for me.

I picked up the first issue of Low because of the current sale and...*sigh*

I think I'm done with Remender. I keep trying the various things he writes because his Uncanny X-Force is one of my favourite runs of anything, but I'm just tired of how much he shits all over his characters. It reminds me of Brubaker's Daredevil, but he doesn't do it with every series he writes. Also, I realize Remender tends to bring characters down to depressing levels so they can rise up in triumph, but he just takes it too far for my tastes.

Low is well written and pretty. It just isn't the sort of thing I want to read anymore.

    It's called Low

Anyway, I think Low is kind of an interesting departure in some ways for Remender because while what's going on around the main character is horrific (I mean we are talking about a post apocalyptic world where literally everyone except her has basically given in to the idea of the human race's extinction), Stel remains steadfast in her hope for something better.

She is Remender's most optimistic protagonist ever, inhabiting his most nihilistic setting yet. It's a fascinating dichotomy. It's absolutely a challenging read though.

The hardcovers of Locke and Key 3&4 arrived yesterday.

I was gonna get them eventually, but I've gotten Hannah into it so I ordered them sooner rather than later.

Also, she lent me her copy of Superman: Birthright.

    It was... really really good.

I think my favorite panel in the entire thing is Superman giving Lois this super awkward wink after saving the day.

Or hell, how about the Starjammers? Fox should have the rights to them, since they're so closely tied to the X-Men and the Shi'ar, right? So do a movie about them, cast Nathan Fillion as Corsair, and use it as the jumping off point for crazy space adventures with the X-Men. It'd be Fox's answer to GOTG.
It would also seem like a SUPER huge rip-off of GotG

bunch of outlaw rowdy space pirates with hearts of gold that eventually save the day led by a smooth-talking ladies man Earther

not that it would/should stop Fox from making it, but I can see why they would be hesitant

Do it after Apocalypse, and have new young Cyclops go out adventuring with his father

    re: X-Men

I still say they should have done X-Men Origins as Charles and Erik meeting and basically just be about them meeting and then teaming up with some other random one-off to stop some other mutant. Set in the 60s.

Then you have X-Men Origins: First Class and hell introduce the Hellfire Club as the villains and put it in the 70s and they have to recruit a team and yeah.

Then put X-Men: Days of Future Past in the 80s and do basically what they did just set in the 80s instead. Like, basically more or less what they did, plus/minus the better changes they could have made.

Then go for X-Men Age of Apocalypse set in the 90s.

And then say fuck it and do X-Factor/X-Force spin off movies after that.

It would have been so damn fun.

I'm trying to think of what they would have named a movie that involved a new team, but I feel like that'd be a bit too contrived. Like...oh we just met this team in the last movie, now we're gonna just take them out and have a new team?

Better to just have the "first class" team for DoFP (basically like they did), have the movie end with a few more than it started with, and do the Charles/Erik break-up in that movie (instead of at the end of First Class). Then in AoA have a big enough team to let the X-Factor folks break off into a spin-off movie.
