Yeah I don't think I've ever even needed an ID most of the time, just give em the name and possibly address so they know where in their big book you'll be.

i've had to have something with my name on it but i've always had a voter card

in '08 they just had a stack of approved names for registered voters to crosscheck against

in '12 they had a computer system, and I didn't have to show ID (i dont think at least, I did anyway) but I had to sign a form saying I was who I claim I was under penalty of jail

So you don't deny your love of pasta-as-pizza!

Ribbing aside and on-topic, Washington's system of voting is nice. Nuka and I are registered, we were sent ballots, filled them out, packed them up in double secret special included envelopes, signed them, and mailed them back in.

Losing the Senate can be good in the longer term because it means the GOP has a record to be held accountable for in 2016. With both houses they can't whine about Democrats as much.

It's just that they're going to spend the next two years trying to repeal the ACA and outlaw abortion than actually fix the country.

uhhh yeah and then they'll blame obama and their base will listen to them and so will a lot of idiot swing voters in Ohio

    business as usual

there is absolutely no reason for Dems to be excited for a GOP senate takeover

it will be a long, bitter, and disastrous two years for the party if that happens

I think Obama will play the true believer and stonewall right to election day 2016

I wish isidewith.com were a more well known thing. I feel like a majority of the GOP's success comes from people not knowing anything about the views and platforms of their local representatives and thus not voting or voting against their interests.

economic policies against the interests of most Americans are considered to be the norm, the only option

you can tell people about socialist or keynesian policies until you're blue in the face but it doesn't really matter

undoing a lifetime of ignorance isn't simply a matter of presenting correct information, being right isn't enough

I would say that virtually every Republican supports repealing the ACA. It's not that hard to find the names. Rand Paul just said it this week.

They just don't advocate trying to repeal it right now, because they know they can't achieve what they want while Obama is still in office, but the second he's out the door it's right back on the table.

yeah like, most people have it and it's actually made their lives better, so the GOP has to know that repealing it would cost them more than it would gain them

so outside of a few diehard tea partiers I don't think that idea's going to go anywhere

Maybe, but only if Hillary isn't running. They're barely holding back the bile they have on hold for her, and I think they may ignore Obama for the most part. Of course, it's hard to say with two years left until that point.

also rand paul isn't on his own planet, but he does just say whatever the fuck he thinks will please whoever is in whatever room he's in, he's completely brazen about lying because he's figured out it doesn't cost politicians anything to lie

and everyone else in the GOP knows it, so to hold up something he said as a serious party goal is a little unwise

My parents hate the ACA and cry about how expensive it is(my mom is on it, my dad has VA coverage and coverage though his state government job) but I looked into it and my mom would be covered for free if Texas hadn't turned down the federal funding from the ACA as part of Perry's whole anti-Obama thing during the last election.

edit: medicaid funding not exchanges why I have no had any caffeine yet

IIRC, the subsidies pretty much end at the point that the Medicaid expansion is supposed to take over.

I know this is one of the most useless things to complain about but oh my god I cannot wait for these campaign ads to stop.

I saw one the other day that had a scary voice over say: "We live in a dangerous world," with grainy footage of ISIS training or whatever. And then the ad went on to criticize some politician for cutting local/municipal police. I want to meet the person who made that and just shake them by the shoulders while screaming "Really?!"

doesn't add up. medicaid is for people who are exceptionally poor

even in a worst case scenario you should still receive full marketplace subsidy

which might not be free, but it would still be much much less than most peoples health insurance, and your standard of care would be higher than medicaid

No she doesn't. If you fall in that trap you are exempt from the tax penalty. I had the same problem and found that out while researching it. If you can afford the insurance keep it, but there is no extra reason you have to have it because states were dicks about Medicaid expansion.

Edit: @Weaver since I fear I might get BotPed
