Tis been a strange season so far. RNGesus is as fickle as ever. I found three Mortal Dramas and three Belts of the Trove within the first day all of them with middling rolls. Then I found a Phalanx shield and Eternal Union so those have been carrying me so far. I'm hurting for a better weapon and Kadala hasn't coughed up a single legendary yet this season. On the other hand I found my first ever pair of Ice Striders and my first ever Tasker and Theo so that was nice even if they were crappy rolls. I even have a set of Akkhan's which I was trying to avoid being pigeonholed into but Champ is just such a huge damage and mitigation boost I've switched to using it even if it's not up all the time.
Found 5 of each for the new Immortal Kings and Wrath of the Wastes (Rend/WW set).
Both are pretty underwhelming. Not much to say about immortal kings, just hard to really see the barb as a pet class.
I had really looked forward to trying wrath of the wastes, but it feels very, very clunky. Having to cast rend is a liability, a drain on whirlwind resources, and almost constantly involves running into un-rended monsters two seconds later. Stuff like spread out skeleton archers become a real hassle.
Changing the 4 pc to "Whirlwind applies Rend" would be nice, but also kinda brainless, so I dunno what they should do.
RNGesus decided to have some random chest (not resplendent) spit out a witching hour for the DH. Roll 30% CHD/6% IAS/Life/Vit. I probably should have rerolled IAS into Dex, but opted to change life into Dex. Pretty sure there a better witching hours out there, that aren't ancient, but I have one on my DH now.
Also had a decent RoRG drop for me, with 44% CHD. So rerolled LoH into a socket.
Finally, had an ancient Odyssey's End drop for me. Not sure if I'll ever use it. Sadly it rolled LoH and a Socket native, but it also rolled 25% increased damage on mobs afflicted by entangling shot and had 3k damage. So maybe it's worth slapping a gift on, if I every do group runs with that character.
Still need to get a pride's fall, but I'll probably focus on that post season, for when I either run a cold or physical build on the character.
Also 12 paragon levels from my goal of 300.
Finally, my DH should do some outstanding damage, when I get around to setting her up with proper gems and have access to all the paragon levels on the non-season stuff. Unfortunately, I think she'll still be squishy as fuck. I probably should consider dropping diamond on the serious GR helm for life.
I got pretty lucky today and I finished getting the 6 pieces of Akkhan's on my crusader. I just need some of that cool, cool, cooldown reduction, and more damage, and I'm set.

gearing for noncrit using fists of thunder is incredibly annoying
Been watching a lot of videos around freeze sentry for DH, with lots of guys sacrificing the damage of Spitfire Turret to go with the one with cold arrow because there's no reliable slow since elemental freeze arrow duration dropped to 1 second.
Maybe I'm missing something, but dudes, caltrops is right there
its not about the slow, its applying the chilled debuff for bane of the trapped/cull the weak without having to use cold ele arrow because sentries wont spread it for you anymore without you also using it.
so in my efforts to get Sunwuko gear for my monk, Rngesus has decided to give my 2 pieces of raiment of 1k storms. (gloves and chest). do i stop trying to collect sunwuko and go for raiment, or wear the raiment, and still try for sunwuko? (running generic EP build atm)
I'd like to thank the gang last night that got my seasonal wizard to 70 (and then some).
I'm doing fine with master difficulty bounties (albeit a bit slow at it) so if y'all don't mind, I'd like to tag along on higher rifts for gear.
Part of me wishes I'd tried a different class (since I have a 70 wizard already, non-seasonal) but the other part of me says "set gear!" and they're both fighting in my head right now. I just feel a bit embarrassed to ask y'all to raise another char to 70 like that. ^^;
I am really hoping to do an elementalist Arcane Torrent build for high GR, but I'm guessing it's gonna take a few bug fixes or set tweaks to make that happen.

I've come to the conclusion that I don't really like wizard.
I cannot fathom how I can constantly die in T6 with 2.2 million dps, 9 million toughness, Dominance, Unstable Anomaly, and full Firebird's. The thrown spears from regular goatmen take off 1/4 of my health. It's ridiculous.
I have a 4200 dps Ancient Sledge, but Apoc feels slow and terrible and never seems to get the full Firebird dot stack. I use Mammoth Hydra but it doesn't feel that great with a slow weapon. Also, Apoc is just not fun.
At the very least, I have no idea how I should be playing this class; at worst, it really is as bad as everyone says. I'm hoping 2.2 will be an improvement, but I'm skeptical.
Well, you shouldn't be doing T6 with the Apoc/Hydra kite build. It's too slow and Firebirds as a set is too squishy. It works in solo Grifting 'cause it's the most overall efficient damage build we currently have for massive piles of HP, but you need to practice kiting forward and LoS blocking a lot.
Honestly on Live we don't have any good T6 builds, when you compare Wizard against DH/Crusader/Barbarian, etc. That will definitely change come 2.2; Delsere's with an Orpheus is super speedy (and safe) as far as T6 is concerned.
its not about the slow, its applying the chilled debuff for bane of the trapped/cull the weak without having to use cold ele arrow because sentries wont spread it for you anymore without you also using it.
Yeah, the slow is just icing; especially, when you have five sentries that can be staggered. Besides the player still gets plenty of rockets out of their polar station sentries with the M4 bonus and a rocket launching spender. Plus, just getting one of those bonuses (cull the weak or bane of the trapped) easily offsets the last damage from spitfire.

Also the male wizard is an insufferable prat.
It's the Blizz has fucked up scaling here. It also doesn't help that they don't grasp how people gear either. Funny thing is, when you give people the option between dps and survival, they'll try to get away with dps in most cases, unless something forces them to pick up the survival. If they ever do a loot revamp, they ought to look at making it so that dps and survival stats are rarely competing with one another. It's fine to have a few oddball defensive pieces that compete with dps pieces for the zDPS builds, but they really should design things with the idea that if there is ability to take dps stats for a slot, then that's what the majority will be using in the slot.
You have double unity? Probably shouldn't be so required, but helps tons.

Can you recommend at least a better T6 build for the time being? You've been at it for a while, there must be something that's relatively stable and efficient.
I'm hoping Delsere's is good, but I've got my eye on the new Tal Rasha's. I think meteor is probably my favorite skill.

For a brief moment after 2.1.2 launched Wizards were actually king at Torment 6 clearing. I remember watching Jaetch (I think Wizard MVP) clear Torment 6 in like 4 minutes + the entire rift itself. It was kind of disgusting. Also I use to run Apocalypse Blizzard on public matches. I killed too fast and teleport ahead too quickly that people rage quit because they could not keep up.
I think the trick is to keep kiting forwards at all times and efficiently cast Blizzard. All you really need to do put a light blanket on trash behind you as you move. Then use black hole for elite packs.
The sad thing is though now most classes have even better Torment 6 clearing capabilities with the re-introduction of Raekor, Sunwuko, etc. All of those builds have exceptional burst capabilities while Firebirds takes too long with the DOT. That is partially why Firebirds seems so lackluster when everyone else has bigger toys.

arcane torrent/flame ward with frost nova/cold snap or bone chill. open with black hole (blazar or spellsteal for deeps, event horizon to use as cc), frost nova when they close in. you can keep channeling still still nova without losing anything. teleport to reposition, templar for help managing enemies on top of you/healing.
http://us.battle.net/d3/en/calculator/wizard#eNQYSO!SXYd!acaZcc roughly something like this. feel free to drop teleport if you want more damage, mess with passives to your desire, change magic weapon to force weapon, etc. lots of tweaks you can do to it.
you could also go disintegrate if you don't mind being squishier.
Didn't see anyone respond to requests to tag along in higher-level rifts so will be back later.
Did you still need some power leveling or wanted to do some Torment 6?
Torment 6, please. I was hoping to gear up my wizard.
On a side note, I've found that whenever I play D3 now, my PC goes into overdrive (all the fans start really working). I'm a bit concerned but not sure what setting(s) to check.

So I finally got an ancient Blade of Prophecy but it is 4% short on cool down reduction...
I can't really use it in greater rifts but I can pretty much destroy T6 now in a minute instead of a minute a 10 seconds.
its not about the slow, its applying the chilled debuff for bane of the trapped/cull the weak without having to use cold ele arrow because sentries wont spread it for you anymore without you also using it.
The majority of that builds damage comes from rockets, the damage of which is amplified by mobs being slowed. You get more rockets out of spitfire turret. You can slow with caltrops which lets you have more rockets. I'm still not getting it?

Nope, I keep getting tossed pretty shitty wands. I have a mediocre Serpent Sparker, but that's it really. Right now I'm just packing my highest damage weapon.

First, finite amount of buttons. Also since the sentry is up anyways, that means less time that has to be spent on slowing mobs, that can instead be put into doing other things.
