Quoting - auto scroll to reply box

Would it be at all feasible to put in an option to not have it scroll automatically to the reply box when you hit to quote someone.
Often I'll quote someone but want to read the rest of the thread before responding which is a bit inconvenient as it is unless I open a new tab for it.
It may also help to avoid dog-piling users by making people scroll down to the reply box themselves before being able to respond?
