How? How do you people play games like this? I just... man. I can't take the suspense. Stopped a couple minutes ago and I can still feel my heart racing.
I'm never gonna get through this thing...
This does not bode well. I'm like you in this way - I get too caught up in the moment. This isn't just for horror either, it's for all mediums that elicit a strong emotional response (i.e.: any moments involving Bob in Twin Peaks, the final scenes of Six Feet Under, more books than I can count). I can't distance myself with what I'm digesting. Sometimes that's fantastic because it gives me an enormous high as a pay-off for the commitment, but other times it can really drag you down into terrifying and sorrowful places and you can't settle yourself down even if you turn it off and walk away for abit.
I watched Alien last night as a refresher. I hope the sound design isn't as good as a movie made 35 years ago, but I highly doubt it
The sound design is a big part of the heart-in-my-throat aspect...
Sorry.
The sound design is fantastic. I normally play games with the volume low enough that I keep subtitles on to make sure I don't miss anything. I play Isolation with headphones on the whole time because I don't want to miss the slightest thing.
The music cues are enough that I was hiding in a corner frantically scanning the room while waiting for an elevator, and I hadn't even seen any hint of enemies in the game yet. Not one, but I was still on edge.
World of Diving looks pretty damn nice. It just looks to me like it's one of those games where you just go at your own pace, without a time limit, just for the sake of exploring- without worrying about anything else. It looks like the kind of thing you play to chill out and relax...
...and those requirements wouldn't even tax my system, either! Wishlisted, very easily.

I would say no. I have a list of small/medium stuff I don't like about it, which taken together makes me just not like it much at all. I was really excited leading up to the release and now I doubt I'll launch it again.
That's too bad. I really enjoy Civ V with all the expansions and such. Perhaps the inevitable expansions will fix whatever flaws you've found.

Thats very much what it is, just chilling out on the ocean floor looking for treasure and taking photos of fish
and you can do dive-handsignals for communicating with other players.
Oh swell, my midterm's site went down in the middle of taking the test. Timed, and I was only halfway through. Lovely. If I'm going to bomb a midterm I want it to be because I'm dumb, not because of a technical error.
Sounds like the perfect thing to burn off stress from dealing with public groups in my MMO games...
I was lucky enough to be gifted this recently! You are spot on - 'tis great for just cruising around at your own pace, exploring, admiring the corals, and seeing what new marine life you can find.
There are challenges involving taking pictures of certain species within a time limit, which does kinda detract from the chilled out overall vibe, but they can be safely ignored.

If its in Seattle, you can blame it on dying Ents. I mean, falling trees.
I loved that game up until shit got unreal. I recall a fun moment where I was investigating myself for a crime, while at the same time trying to evade being nailed for said crime. Who is the good guy/bad guy? Who to root for?
That sticks in my mind as a "gaming moment", fun times.
It's been a long time since I played it, but I think the one moment that really stuck out for me from Indigo Prophecy was when
you're in the park and you see the kid fall through the ice and into the pond. You know he'll drown if you don't jump in, but the cops are nearby and if you make a scene you'll be caught for sure.
If you choose to save the kid
than
a cop will run up as you pull the kid out of the pond and recognize you as being wanted for murder, and the two of you will look at each other. He'll hesitate on what to do and then finally motion for you to get the fuck out of there.

Same here. I have this weird morbid fear/consuming fascination with undersea shipwrecks (as evidenced occasionally in my avatars), so being able to swim around and explore them would be equal parts terrifying and amazing. especially with a Rift.
The videos kinda reminded me of that old PS1 game Treasures of the Deep.
If World of Diving ever goes on sale, it might make for a good group decompression game- you know, something people can just screw around in and talk while swimming around.
But onto other news... I'm calling Pac-Man Championship Edition DX pretty much beaten. I've run through the Time Trials, and all that's really left are the freeplay modes- and being that there's really no way you can beat those... yeah, I'm happy with reviewing it and moving onto something else.
To be quite honest, there's not really a lot you can say about it- it's Pac-Man, but it still kicks a bunch of ass for a game that was out before I was born (Pac-Man was released in May of 1980.) The goal, as in most every Pac-Man game, is the same- om nom nom things for points, avoid ghosts (until you much a power pellet and go after them like a herd of cats after a tuna truck), and try to run your score up as high as possible. However, you don't get to move on by munching all the dots and power pellets- eating all the dots and free pellets on one side of the maze spawns a special bonus item for you to munch- and eating the bonus item refills the opposite side of the maze with more dots, ghosts and pellets to munch.
The ghosts don't really behave the same way, though- you'll still get your four original ghosts (Inky, Pinky, Blinky and Clyde), but then you'll also see a lot of stationary, sleeping ghosts in the maze. These won't harm you unless you run into them- or if they're the first one you wake up, in which case it will start to chase you. After that, any ghosts you wake will join the chasing ghost, eventually forming a long line of ghosts that trail you like a long, ghostly snake. While the other four might just search the maze for you, the ghost train will always seek you out, so be careful.
However, there are also some new things you can do to keep being the nom-er, and avoid being the nom-ee. First off, Pac-Man can set off bombs- detonating one returns all ghosts to the spawnbox in the middle of the maze, and allows you to munch in peace. The other? Occasionally you'll see ghosts spawn carrying either power pellets or bombs- and if you chomp them under the effect of a power pellet, you'll collect the items they're carrying. Bombs go into your inventory to be used whenever, but power pellets carried by ghosts are chomped immediately and refill the amount of time you have to chomp ghosts.
All in all, I really can't find anything to complain about- it's simple, but it's fun- and that's something that might just be refreshing when other games think they have to be realistic and complicated as possible. Some days you want to shoot mans, some days you might want to nom dots (and with Depth coming out, some of us will want to nom mans, apparently). Nothing wrong with that.
I'd tell you guys to go get it, but I think everyone here already owns a copy. So go give it to friends of friends!

Nimble Quest is pretty fun (although I wish the cost of upgrading heroes was a little lower). I like that it plays differently if you have a couple of tanky melee swipers at the front of the line versus ranged or spell/bomb chuckers.

So, Krummith, is Brave New World really the bee's knees? I hear it's good, but how does it work in actual play?
I think it added a lot of depth to the game. It really reworked the social policies, adding in late game ideologies, which really shakes things up. Tourism, trade routes, and archaeology makes having a Cultural victory really satisfying. I had a small Civ, no real military might, but my culture was huge. I wound up winning before the aggressive civs could wipe me out militarily because my culture swamped theirs. I think it's well worth picking up.

I doubt my wii still works but if it does, I'm gonna play so much endless ocean.
Flower Shop: Summer in Fairbrook is off the backlog.
It's another Winter Wolves game, so the core of it is actually really decent. The writing is pretty well done, and the music is nice to listen to- if there's one thing about Winter Wolves, it's the music that you get to listen to. You guys might have heard me complain about the music in an earlier review I did (Car Mechanic Simulator 2014, to be exact), and this ought to illustrate just how important music is.
The story of the game is simple- you get to play as Steven (or Steve, as he likes to be called), and, well... your life is el-crap-o right now. You've flubbed up your spring semester of college, you got kicked to the curb by your girlfriend, and your dad is kind of sick of you lazing around the house all summer, so... he's made other arrangements for you- namely, you're going to the little town of Fairbrook to help his brother- your Uncle Sam- on his farm. So, off that way you head, with the goal of finding a new spark in this sleepy little burg.
It plays very well- you spend time with the four eligible girls to raise stats, and you work in the garden ever morning- if you like.
To be honest, though... you don't have to grow anything. Gardening is almost completely optional- you need to finish clearing the land, but after that, well... you get seedlings to plant. You water and keep them free of pests, and then harvest and sell them for more money... which you can only use to buy more seeds. You could end up removing the farming from this game entirely and it wouldn't make a darn bit of difference, which is a shame. You've got two different games here- the visual novel dating sim, and the gardening simulator- which have been smooshed into one package. I get the feeling the gardening is here to buy some length of play- I got about three and a half hours out of it- and that's through reading all the text. It would have been better if there was a way to tie in the farming to the dating sim (Blazes, Harvest Moon has made it look easy!), but to be honest, this one, well... I imagine that even with reading the dialogue, you might only take two hours or less to get through the game without the farming aspect.
One particular thing I want to make clear: Winter Wolves, I love you guys. I love your games. "Loren The Amazon Princess" is worth 25 bucks with DLC. But there is no way in blazes that "Flower Shop: Summer In Fairbrook" is worth fifteen bucks. The art style is nice, the writing is quality- but the gameplay leaves lots to be desired with this one. If you can catch this with a sale, I'd say it's worth five, maybe seven-fifty on a good day. But fifteen bucks for something you'll have completed in two hours...? I'd say this one ought to be a "Kind of want"- it's entertaining, but not at fifteen bucks.
So that's two down... ah, damn, looks like that might be all the backlog clearing I get done. "Catching Fire" just popped up on Netflix, and I've never seen it. I figure I'll make some popcorn and check that out.
There's only like one wreck (though it's a spooky wreck), but if you've got access to a Wii or Wii U (those are back compat, right?), you should definitely check out Endless Ocean.

I have a copy of that around here, too, but I never got very far into it. Something about coming back up to the base all the time and the ominous presence of the stun stick threw me off. I'll have to dive (haha...ha) into that again sometime. Was the music as good?
