Thanks @Big Classy! Even though I did nothing to you at all but minding my own business in the corner (and maybe laughing just a tiny bit at Isorn getting giftbombed. But just a tiny bit). Otherwise, nothing! At all.
I would say no. I have a list of small/medium stuff I don't like about it, which taken together makes me just not like it much at all. I was really excited leading up to the release and now I doubt I'll launch it again.
That's too bad. I really enjoy Civ V with all the expansions and such. Perhaps the inevitable expansions will fix whatever flaws you've found.
So, @Krummith, is Brave New World really the bee's knees? I hear it's good, but how does it work in actual play?
Brave New World is widely considered to be what brought Civ V up to the standard quality of a Civ game. Like, Civ V with all expansions is more or less as good as vanilla Civ IV (Civ IV with all expansions is still the definitive Civ experience in my [and many others'] opinion).

Well, though I have only played 1 game of Civ V (not because I disliked it, just because I have so much backlog and could play Civ ti the cows come home) but I thought it was excellent, even without Brave New World.
Then again, the last Civ games I played were Civ II and Civ:Call to Power (which was great, regardless of what anyone says  ) so admittedly my base for what makes a good modern civ game might be a bit off. I thought it had just enough complexity without drowning me in systems.
Though I do miss the ability to build underwater cities and tunnel systems in C:CtP. Oh, and space cities. Or like I called them, "orbital death strike launchers".

Well, I was disappointed when Civ V made it harder to micromanage your cities, so I guess you can take my recommendation with a grain of salt :P
But yeah, I just looked back at what BNW added in and it's nothing too overwhelming. The ideology system is interesting and only take place after the Industrial Age, Trade Routes are useful but kind of annoying in that you can't automate them (an issue that continues into BE), and the World Congress is spaced out enough for most of the game that it's easy to manage. It's nothing like the inanity that was the corporations systems in the Civ IV expansions.
You know, I might be a bit biased, but that's a rather good game.
Fanpatch here. Still has (seemingly unfixable) peculiarities in widescreen but nothing terminal. Looks great in modern resolutions.

The first level is overlong and repetitive. Plough through. It gets way, way better afterwards.
Abuse the hell out of the time dilation (i.e. bullet time) when you get it, the better to appreciate the animations & combos. You can play it such that it's an incredibly elegant game, or a complete mess. (Do the former.)

Vanilla civ 5 is better than Civ 4. Vanilla BE is better than vanilla Civ 5 IMO. Not sure about BNW yet. But gut instinct says base mechanics maybe, polish no.
The main shortcoming is the UI which needs a lot of work. The UI in 5 was bad too (gotta use the enhanced UI mod) but not quite this bad
I remember there being a couple of games for the iDevices that you got to play as a shark in. The one I have on my phone and play is Hungry Shark Evolution- you get to play as the shark and nom things. Might be the thing if you want to grab a bite on the go.
Depth on Passive difficulty mode is just that - the bots don't attack, on either side. As I've just found out playing a round each as shark and diver and scoring all the kills on each. Good for checking out the maps (there's 5 in the beta, nicely varied; not sure if the full game will have more but I hope so), getting used to the feel, and looking at the sharks close-up from the diver's eye view in safety.
It also lets you just enjoy the incredible atmosphere of the levels. It seriously looks so great in motion. So atmospheric, it's still scary as the diver even when you know you're 100% safe and the sharks are just doing this:
I never did play Jaws on the PS2/Xbox generation. I feel sad about that now, I bet it was awesome. Must keep an eye out for an Xbox copy since I at least have that hardware kicking about at present.
And with that I learned of the 90 character limit on titles.
I was faced with a decision - correct my mistake and modify the title OR try to find a way to have meant "plum".
I guess I was wrong- I might have to peruse that when I get back from taking the niece trick-or-treating!
But anyways, all this talk of milestones... I popped up like a meerkat, and @HiT BiT decided they'd play whack-a-kitteh with a copy of Sweet Lily Dreams! To be honest, this one kind of intrigued me when I first saw it- the whole writing angle, wandering and fighting through fairy tales... I figured it looked like a fun game to play- and one of your party members is a cat, so it has that going for it, I guess...
So in Magic 2015, there's a big set of cards you can unlock by playing the campaign, or you can unlock those cards as four sets of paid DLC if you can't be arsed playing.
There's also a set of "premium" cards that you could buy in a booster of ten cards at a time. You can't get those cards by playing.
Except they removed the ability to buy those boosters, since they want to move away from microtransactions. And they still haven't added a way to actually get those damn cards. So there's a bunch of cards locked away that I want to put in my deck. Gah.

super lame. I'm glad they're moving away from microtransactions though, I remember the original Magic Online was absolutely redunkulous with nickle and diming you, they charged the same price for digital cards as physical (I think it got to the point where almost half of Wizard's profits came solely from Magic Online)

I would severly disagree. I would say that Civ V with both expansions is a markedly better and more fun game than Civ IV.
Civ V without any expansions is boring as nuts, though. But then, so was vanilla Civ IV.

I liked vanilla Civ V. I may be the only one. That said, the expansions are pretty much objective improvements and you can't go back.
I'm not in any hurry to get Beyond Earth. For one thing, it looks to be more Civ V and I've got Civ V just sitting there waiting for more hours spent. For another, Firaxis' expansions are always literal game changers. I really don't have the time to play two or three fully featured, timesink 4x's. And there will be dynamite game + expansions + extras bundles for a fraction of the current asking cost before too long. As much as I love the series and the company, they've made it pretty clear that there's no rush to get in on the vanilla version of one of their 4x's.
Just from the time I've put into Sweet Lily Dreams, I know I like it already. The premise is fun... there are customization options- you get to choose your own outfit, complete with element affinities... choose your own attack element, even set up your own house- which can give you party bonuses to attack, damage, even elemental resistances. It actually plays a bigger role than just looking good... it might even end up saving your bacon!
I already like the title character... she gets attacked by a monster, finds out she has magic... and then tells said monster she's going to kick his butt instead of running away. I haven't got much farther in on it yet, but it's looking promising!
@Big Classy and @Isorn are now in a heated competition to see who can get to 2,000 games and get the "Gaming God" badge first. Both are excited to win. They need your help.

So have you ever played Descent and thought, man this game would be awesome with advanced inertial physics, tons of different ships, tons of different upgrades, open world mechanics, diablo style loot mechanics and dungeons and retrofuture arcade graphics? Do you want enemies with individually assembled AI who drop their equipment as data fragments that can be collected to assemble your own version?
NeonXSZ has you covered. If you are allergic to Early Access give it a few months, it should be released fairly soon. It'll be the same price on release so waiting will cost you nothing. And if you are wondering the lead dev is very involved with the community, including the Steam forums and is totally engaged with community criticism in a very positive way. For example, a bounty hunter and mission system is coming soon, inspired by community suggestions. And it's already highly playable and very stable. This is no pipe dream or barebones early alpha.

I haven't played a ton of Civ 5. I think I have 40 hours? But most of that was before I had any of the expansions. I plan to play a lot more, but I'm pretty hooked on BE right now. I know it doesn't have as much going on, but the whole sci fi new planet thing is really interesting to me.

Larva Mortis has some borderline highschooler level art, and a really tired premise (you're part of a secret society that hunts paranormal/abnormal/demonic creatures, you operate in the shadows and aren't bound by the laws of mortals blah blah blah), but I fired it up and ran through a few levels and it was actually pretty fun. There's the typical Zelda dungeon style get keys to open doors to go to new rooms to clear out monsters to eventually find a boss gameplay, but you also get to kill bats with a sword. It's certainly Halloween-appropriate.
Thank you @Isorn for hooking me up with a key while you were spreading bundle codes about.
