Yeah, we only attempt the DH at 28 because that seemed to be the case. Since the Weekly thoroughly kicked us around the park at 28 last night, we might drop it down to 26 for now and see about upping it later in the week.

Other than the chance to get another exotic, the XP/rep buff doesn't feel to be that much of a carrot to me, and if the seed is favoring Strange Coins this week, it's less of a reason to do it.

At least you have two pieces of raid gear! I've still only pulled A SINGLE PIECE OF RAID ARMOR out of 10+ Vault runs (across multiple characters).
Good news, though! ( @Erevar@SiliconStew and @Booker ) AllDngsGo2Hvn hit 29 last night and Balerion should be 29 by Thursday as well. That should let us make a solid Hard Mode attempt on Thursday.
So now I can get feel doubly bad when I don't get any armor from the Raid!

Honestly its not as hard as people are making out, you just have to really be aware of how deadly wizards are and how much the three spawn on wave 3 is not to be fucked with and as soon as the wizards show you run the fuck up the hallway and play like they are lava.

The pain of this week's nightfall is that there is absolutely no room for error but plenty of chances to fuck up. And while it is relatively short in some respects, to play it safe you have to take your time - which means you're fighting your own psychology and the time further increases your opportunity for fuckups.
Boomers, wizards and thralls will fucking kill you.
I ran the weekly at 28 solo last night after the royals game because I needed to shoot/punch things after that brutal affair. Pulled the three wizards into the hallway with me and unloaded Hezen Vengeance on them to solve that problem, then the biggest problem with Phogoth was honestly just putting down the three hallowed knights and all the random adds before I unchained him, after that it was super easy, just shot him in the arm until he died. I think this might not be the best week to solo the nightfall though, I suspect those stupid wizards and the waves will be much, much harder there.

True just grab the bounties that are doable, don't waste time on things like shotgun sprees. Also I wouldn't crucible until you have your super, grenade, and melee ability.

So, I played Destiny last night for a few hours. Achievements:
1. I hit rank 2 with New Monarchy and immediately spent over half my Crucible marks on new shoes. Light level instantly popped up to 24 (from 22) and my defense increased by nearly 100. I'm 16 marks shy of a second armor piece, but that should be pretty trivial to get.
2. I fully upgraded my first subclass (Titan-Striker). Apparently this is required to unlock the nightfall mission. (I was actually wondering about that since there is much talk about it and I had never seen any reference to it in-game.)
New goals:
- level up my Vanguard reputation to rank 3 so I can buy purple weapons
- level up the "other" subclass
- earn 16 Crucible marks
I'm thinking of leveling a second Hunter to capitalize on raiding twice per week, what have people found is the fastest road to 20?
Do stuff on the higher difficulties to get sweet fat bonus XP. As soon as you get bounties go do all the PVE ones you can. When you return to the story missions you will be getting giant stacks of fat XP from doing them at much higher difficulties. Practically like each story mission becomes a bounty reward on it's own.

Pretty much any melee attack will kill you. The wizards fire bolts like AR arounds, as do the knights sometimes... and their attacks have splash.
So you end up hanging out in one spot for a while, taking a few shots, then waiting for the rain to stop...
If you get past the gate room you're golden, I'd say... but getting past the gate room with the modifiers in place this time is a task.

Anyway, been trying to find more information on the Field Scout perk and failing. Does anyone know if it increases the mag size by a percentage or a fixed number depending on weapon type?
Super curious to see what my 12 round handcannon is gonna look like when I get enough experience in it.

I'm having trouble remembering the auto-fire and keep pressing the trigger! Finally upgraded it all the way last night, it sure is a beast of a gun.
I rushed new monarchy as a titan first too. Now I'm at end game and don't really know why I ever needed strength... Defenders don't actually defend or tank. They are an awesome support class that's fun to play. But you're not regularly meleeing stuff to get your shield or generate orbs.

Also, it's kinda weird how the scaling works in this game. 3-man'd the Nightfall no problem with Arc damage despite having terrible arc weapons (28,28,27). 3-man'd the Heroic and got stuck at the 3rd wizard wave. Died like a million times. Then the other 28 gets frustrated and quits, and me+the 27 one-shot it like it was easy mode.
While we're teasing the guy who left it was all his lack of skill, it did seem significantly easier with just 2.

Yep. Lvl 24 to unlock lvl 28 content. At lvl 23, lvl 28 story missions show up as "IMPOSSIBLE" and blacked out).

Yeah, I've noticed that issue with VoC. I may have to try the "just keep clicking" non-auto method today.
I couldn't imagine using full auto on a scout rifle (that's what visions is right?) but on a pulse rifle I could totally see using it.
It's pretty awesome on confluence, as Zen Moment + Perfect Balance makes it so there's basically no recoil. I've never had the "stop firing" issue, and clicking the trigger for every bullet might be faster but there's no way I'm doing that.
Aim at boss weak spot.
Hold down trigger.
Profit.
It's kinda like Suros Regime in some ways. It also will win every time vs auto rifles at range, although Suros can be close.

This. Juju does the same thing. I have this issue with a lot of the weapons that aren't full auto that are supposed to become full auto via perk.
Who needs the weekly heroic on 360? Pretty sure we can do it in less than 30 minutes if shit goes like it did for Evil Monkey and me last night. Nightfall down in 30 mins or your upgrades are free.

So three weeks running now, it seems like I made my alt only for duplicate items and strange coins.
My goal for the next few days to switch out my boots to bonus something that isn't Scout Rifles. Then ascend my normal Legendaries to get LL29.

and bring a friend so you can run the story missions on higher difficulties. most are doable solo, but there are a few that are just frustrating unless you've got someone along with you. preferably someone at a higher level, with decent gear.
actually i think the Nightfall is unlocked by level, so you probably triggered it by hitting lvl 24 even though that's still a few levels below its difficulty.
Yep. Lvl 24 to unlock lvl 28 content. At lvl 23, lvl 28 story missions show up as "IMPOSSIBLE" and blacked out).
When I first started using the auto-fire it did quite often. Funny enough, it's faster to just click the trigger then to hold the auto-fire.

Yeah, I've noticed that issue with VoC. I may have to try the "just keep clicking" non-auto method today.
It's pretty awesome on confluence, as Zen Moment + Perfect Balance makes it so there's basically no recoil. I've never had the "stop firing" issue, and clicking the trigger for every bullet might be faster but there's no way I'm doing that.
It's kinda like Suros Regime in some ways. It also will win every time vs auto rifles at range, although Suros can be close.
2 rounds, eh? Yeah, I'll probably go for the range, then. Was hoping it was going to be something absurd like 5-6 rounds.

This. Juju does the same thing. I have this issue with a lot of the weapons that aren't full auto that are supposed to become full auto via perk.
In all seriousness, the cheese strats on the nightfall close to trivialize it. I can see Bungie nerfing it eventually.
