Also Bioware designed some Tarot cards which you can only get by buying the Inquisitor Edition at Gamestop (boo), but guess which couple was used to portray The Lovers?
The first time I played origins it took me like sixty? hours to beat it and when I did, the credits rolled, the game went back to main menu, and I immediately started up a new file, beat that one in twenty, credits rolled, started up a new file, and beat the game a third time. It's the only game I've ever gotten all the achievements for.
I'm gonna buy a ps4 for this when it comes out. So gay, you guys. So gay. If I could marry a video game we would me mister and missus dragon age. Fenris is my waifu. And morrigan. And merrill. And...
Yeah I totally loved Origins so I'm pretty much in it to win it at this point. I have high hopes for DA:I, despite being disappointed in ways by DA2, but I've actually avoided learning too much about Inquisition in advance.
I think the open world transition has a lot of potential; I hope it works out well.
In my opinion, Dragon Age II is superior to Dragon Age: Origins on all fronts.
I'm mostly with you on this. I think the number one thing I wish they'd done better was the equipment system. It isn't terrible in DA2, but one of the things I really liked in Origins was getting that dragon armor for doing some of the optional content. It wouldn't really fit with how DA2 was set up, necessarily, but a more in depth equipment system in Inquisition sounds pretty cool.

DA2 is a weird thing for me. On the one hand, I like the combat, I like the way companion relationships are handled, I liked the rivalry/friendship dichotomy, I love the characters, I love the underlying theme that despite being a pretty cool lady you are still just one person and yet, I did find the ending unsatisfying. Even though I totally approved and appreciated it, I just couldn't get myself to play that game as much as I'd played others - not even as much as I'd played DA:O which has super tedious combat to me.

I found the gameplay in DA2 somewhat repetitive, and the limited number of environments made the world feel much smaller than Origins.
Also I liked being able to play as a Dwarf or Elf, etc. in the first game a lot. The eponymous origin stories were some of the best parts of DA:O. While I get why DA2 limits your choices there, to tell a more specific story, I still felt less ownership over the narrative and my character in that game for that reason (at least partially). It's still a game I really enjoyed.

Oh yeah, I did forget about that. I liked being able to play different species. Looking forward to DA:I bringing that back

I really liked Alistair and Sten in Origins; comparatively, I adored almost every member of the cast in II. Although my enjoyment of Anders faded pretty early on - I think it was mostly residually liking him in the expansion for Origins.
I really liked Origins, but have a difficult time playing it through again due to the length of some of the levels and the greater time commitment. As repetitive as the dungeons in II can be, at least you can trek through them more quickly.
DA2 companions are all buddies sticking together for years which is awesome, whereas in DA1 everyone just hangs out because they have to and once the Darkspawn bullshit is over they never call, they never write.
Well, except for Oghren who keeps showing up drunk on your doorstep needing a place to crash.

I've sunk like 30 hours into Origins after starting the game 4 different times, each time it failing to hold my interest, and each time starting with a different area because the thought of repeating any of them horrified me.
I love DA2 though and I am really excited for this despite knowing almost nothing about it to this point.

Out of curiosity, did you play Origins before you played DA2, or after?
I feel like if I played 2 first I would have really hated 1.

I played Origins first and I feel like I got through large parts of it out of sheer force of will. I'd love to go back and go through the climax of that game again but getting to that point feels like a giant pain in the ass.

I could see the seed of a good game in there which is why I spent as much time with it as I did.
But everything about it was so clunky and filled with bizarre design choices and honestly it's worst sin is just how horribly it was paced. Every single area of that game is so fucking long and often very tedious.
DA2 fixed a lot of that and gave me an actual character to play with well fleshed out characters to bounce of and interact with.
Whether DA:O or DA2 is better is one of those discussions we seem to have at least once a week
They both have their good points! Maybe DA:I will be a mix of the best elements of both games plus more good stuff! At least that's what I'm hoping for.

everything I've seen about Inquisition makes me really want to play it
like, the combat seems a mix of the more interesting powers and combat mechanics from two with better encounter design, the customization stuff looks really neat, they brought back varric...
Inquisition seems pretty clearly a big step up from both previous games on a gameplay level
My reservations lie with a return to epicness

I am very excited for this game. I have such fond memories of playing the first game and Awakening on PS3 after having literally no idea beforehand that it existed and falling in love with it from start to finish. DA2 as well, for all it's faults, was still quite satisfying in many regards from some elements of the combat system to the story.
I will most likely be grabbing it just prior to it's release in November. My only regret is that I have, it seems, no way of getting my Warden or Hawke save wise as I am playing on my PC this time as opposed to the PS3. It would be nice to have a Mass Effect style fan made save editor.
I was planning not to buy any games at full price anymore, but DA:I might be one of those for which I make an exception

Oh, and we can play as Qunari now which excites me, because I always loved exploring the Qun philosophy and culture and going for a more in depth examination of that from the inside is going to be an experience.

Multiplayer is going to be like this but with Qunari.

but fuck Origin's Deep Roads segment
that was a long road of bullshit

honestly I feel "long road of bullshit" applies to a lot of the content in Origins
just thinking about going back to that forest makes me upset

loved that stuff
