This law, which primarily covers colleges
based on the pretty bunk statistic stating 1 in 5 women will be sexually assaulted in college, essentially states that consent must be constantly asked for after each escalation in a sexual encounter.
This article has some more information on it.
Now, this law has led to some interesting opinions from those who are for it. Empowering colleges to act alone, instead of involving the proper authorities, means a decrease in due process for the accused. This is something the more honest supporters of the law readily admit. And some, like
Ezra Klein, have no problem with that. Even though he knows this law will lead to innocent men and women getting convicted of rape, he's all for it for the scare story potential of those cases.
NRO writer
Charles C. W. Cooke finds that insane. Losing due process for a moral panic over some pretty flawed statistics is not a good trade, nor should it be in anybody's mind.
But, what do y'all think?
