WWII Mussolini Execution Photos - What do?
So a friend of mine has recently been helping his mother move out of her house and has been digging around in her attic sorting crap out and generally clearing up. While doing so, he stumbled across a box with some old photos in it from his grandmother, apparently taken by soldiers during World War II.
One of these photos is of three men strung up by their feet (with some sarcastic caption on about "the three princes" I think) which is
apparently a photo taken of Mussolini post-execution. It's definitely some dead dudes from WWII either way.
I have no idea if there's any way to verify if this is genuinely Mussolini or not, or even if this is particularly rare (there could be shitloads of Mussolini photos out there as far as I know) but it seemed interesting enough to find out if anyone knew. So I guess my question is, is this likely to be real? And if so, it is rare enough to warrant getting in touch with a museum or something?

we also talk about other random shit and clown upon each other
You should definitely get in contact with either your state's historical society, or the history department of a nearby university. At the very least they can take a look and give you an educated guess of what exactly you're looking at. They'll also be able to help with preservation, WW2 photos are common certainly but being able to preserve as many as we possibly can just helps future generations.
There's a fair share of photos of Mussolini's body hanging, the whole point of hanging him up there was to display the body and prove he was dead, so it's certainly possible that your GI either took the photo or traded for it. Whether or not it's an original I couldn't say without seeing the photo.
If you want to google "mussolini hanging", there's a pretty decent selection of angles to get an idea if it's really Mussolini or not, but it's definitely an unpleasant and NSFW google search.
