I'm not entirely sure of this, but in Hyrule Warriors it seems that you don't have to manually collect the material/weapon bag dropped by enemies. I didn't really notice it until I started paying attention, like doing an all attacks are devastating mission I got some typical captain materials even though I don't remember touching any of the bags that dropped. Or when I was trying to A rank a mission and ignored the shiny weapon bags officers dropped to take care of bombchus. I still got weapons once I beat the mission.
I probably just picked up some bags by accident when things got hectic and didn't remember, but when I get the chance I'll play a mission and avoid them on purpose.
There are only a set number of spawn points on each map. After getting a few you should be pretty familiar with them (although I think there are new locations on the Twilight Princess map).
Ooh, this being the same Link as in Skyward Sword because they're both right-handed would be really interesting. I hope they go down that route because the characters in SS were fantastic and I wanna see more of them.
Okay can you guys help me with Hyrule Warriors? I'm down to just two more weapons to get and both of the characters I am terrible at. It's Agitha and Zant. For Agitha it's because I take too much damage in the beginning with all the lizard guys that spawn in front of you. I spend around 4-5 minutes fighting them and getting surrounded before I kill them and move on. The Link fight isn't too bad (just block and wait for an opening and then attack the weak point for extra damage!)
Zant though. I just cannot kill everything fast enough. By the time I get to Ghiriham (I can't spell his name to save my life) I'm at 15-ish minutes. Mostly because I have to run up and save Ganondorf once or twice at the top of the map.
Both are in the mid 40's. Do I really need to grind up the levels for them some more or is there something I'm missing?
Yeah I was afraid of that. I've been going through the Master Quest levels and decided that I need to unlock those seals that require all the weapons because I have quite a few awesome weapons that would get better with it finally unlocked. Is there a good level to grind out some levels? In Master Quest there's one that you have to kill as many dudes as you can in like 8 minutes or something so I figured that would be best but I'm not sure.
Apparently there's a certain "choose your waifu" mission that gives you a lot of rupees/EXP, but I'm not sure where on the adventure map it's on. I looked everywhere, but I haven't unlocked all of the topmost rows yet.
Finish the story mode, gathering all 18 of the Skulltulas. Then, acquire the skulltulas on the first two levels of story mode on Legend difficulty. This will unlock a bonus adventure map for XP grinding.

Get all the skulltula puzzle pieces from a normal difficulty run through of the story mode, then finish the puzzle by doing the first two missions again in hard mode.
This unlocks the special mission True Friends. In this mission, you are intended to go choose a female partner for Link, then all the other women become enemies who you have to kill, and it ends with a fight vs. Dark Link in his base.
Normally this can be pretty tough with 5 strong bosses coming after you at once, but there's a trick. If you just wait without doing anything at the start, the ladies will all stay neutral and stand around doing nothing, which means the enemies will be attacking them and damaging them quite a bit over time. Wait exactly 5 minutes, go pick Midna as your partner (she doesn't get hurt as much as the rest), and then go easily kill all the others with their 1% HP remaining. Then kill Dark Link. Lots of high quality materials and weapons to collect, gain 1 or 2 levels per run.
When waiting you can either run around racking up kills for fun and XP, or you can go stand by the statue of the goddess where Midna is and no enemies will attack you in the green fields there.
It's not necessarily super fast but it is faster than a lot of other things you could be doing, and it is easy, you can watch a TV show while doing it, set a stop watch for 5 minutes each time.
Seriously, this is the xp/weapon grind level. Its also super easy to get 500 ko's using stamina meter. I always get 1 level up, and buy the next level up on the cheap.
Ugh you have to collect skulltulas to unlock that money grinding mission? I don't think I've even completed a puzzle illustration yet, time to look at what I've done in legend mode. Didn't expect this game to be such a time sink, barely even touched the Master Quest map and haven't even opened the Twilight map yet...

It's a crazy time sink. I'm going through Legend/Free mode to get all the pieces of heart and skulltulas and it takes quite a bit of time. I've barely touched Adventure mode at all.
Heart containers are probably out of the question for me. Which is a weird thing to say when it comes to "completing" Zelda games. Definitely not going to 100% perfect complete this game anytime soon.
Eh, like I said the True Partners one is about a 6 minute level (5 minutes to wait for the girls to all die, one more minute to kill them and Dark Link) for about the same amount of rewards, it sounds like. I guess I don't know for sure. I can't be arsed to work my way across the master quest map right now.
The first thing many people noticed was just how huge the Zelda Wii U map was. It sure looks impressive, but how big is it really?
During the video we are told that to travel from Link’s position (green arrow) to the beacon (red cross) would take approximately “4 or 5 more minutes” on horseback. Bearing in mind that Aonuma had already traveled a short distance already, let’s assume that 5 minutes is a fair estimation.
Measuring the map, we know that the distance between Link and the beacon is approximately 30px and therefore to travel 30px takes around 5 minutes. The distance between to two furthest corners of the map is 447px, so equip with this information, we can now work out how long it would take Link (riding on horseback) to travel across the entire map. Let’s do the math…
That’s right… to travel between the two furthest points in Zelda Wii U, it would take approximately 1 hour 14 minutes and 30 seconds…. and that’s on horseback!
Assuming that Epona is travelling at her fastest speed (galloping) and the Zelda Wii U team programmed her speed realistically (they probably didn’t), we can calculate roughly how many kilometers across the map is. The average speed of a galloping horse is 40 – 48km/h, so let’s go with 44km/h.
44 * 1.2416 = 54.6304 = 54.6km (33.9 miles)
These figures are all just estimations based on what was seen during the gameplay video and may not be entirely accurate. There are a number of things to consider: Aonuma may have not traveled in a straight line, the video may have been cut so that the “4 to 5 minute” comment happened 10 minutes in, Epona’s speed may vary on different terrain, etc. Overall it does provide a little more insight into what we can expect (in terms of size) from the new Zelda world though.
Talking of previous Zelda titles, let’s take a trip back to 1986 when the first Zelda game (The Legend of Zelda) came out in Japan… and let’s look at its map.
Notice anything familiar?
It looks as though the entire southern section of the Zelda Wii U world is based on the very first Zelda. There are some subtle differences but given the huge graphical face-lift, that would be expected.
Aw man, I was going to make my own stupid drawing comparing maps
so I did it anyway because baseless theory-crafting fun (and I wanted to include OoT as well)
I took the maps of LoZ and U to be covering equal ground mostly because of the prominent mountain barricade in the upper left, it's significantly walled off compared to other areas in the original and it looks kind of conspicuous here too
Care Free Bomb's red and green circles are better - there are clearly 2 big lakes in the new Zelda, and there are two big connected lakes in the original Zelda.
Kind of the "anchor point" for the red area is what looks like a lake in the top right corner (Zora's Domain?) that flows down to the other lakes. The light blue areas are a little hanging peninsula. The green and pink areas are a couple smaller lakes in similar locations that make sense. And the coastline is obvious.
Yeah, those map comparisons are kinda pointless. I mean..it's set in Hyrule, so of course there's gonna be a big lake, a large mountain region, a desert etc.
Also, big fucking surprise: there are rivers and forests and islands and they kinda look alike when looked at from a large enough distance. Who would have thought?

Well, the lake that isn't Lake Hylia is situated right where Kokiri Forest would be based on the OoT Hyrule Field-looking place so we might get official confirmation that dungeon 1 in LoZ is, in fact, the remains of the Deku Tree

Hey, I love this kind of speculation! What other game series would garner such fervent examination of every little detail?
I would actually prefer that the layout of Zelda Wii U wasn't taking inspiration from a previous game.
Being so hyped for the new Zelda I've started Minish Cap recently as well (bought off the eShop awhile ago but it had gone unplayed) to satisfy the sudden Zelda itch and its pretty damn good! Now that is a game that has borrowed from a lot of other games though.

Heartcontainers tend to just lie around somewhere. Oldfashioned Zelda treasurehunting.

I'm still riding that "maybe it's Zelda!" train. I would also be down with a Prince Zelda and the heroine Link, Adventure Time's Fionna style :P
