Question is: if I open a chest with rupees and I'm at max, does it still put the rupees back?
I'm wondering if this is an non-intrusive fix for that issue. Rather than change that, you can just carry more rupees in general. Granted, that doesn't necessarily solve it early on in the game unless all wallets are increased (possible!)
Part of me wants to get this for all of the nice QoL changes, but another part of me realizes that I'll probably never play it. Then again, I have a youngster now and will definitely want her to play LoZ games...so maybe there's a chance.

Amiibo DLC bugs me. I didn't think there could be much worse than paid DLC for stuff you probably should've gotten anyway, but DLC that you can't buy if you're not fast or lucky takes the cake.

Honestly amiibo aren't even really rare anymore though.

Link was never rare, and Zelda only slightly less so. Assuming you don't need the specific Wolf/Midna statue it shouldn't have been an issue.

Rare or not it's annoying to have to get a physical object to access a piece of content on the disc. I don't really have the space in my apartment to display/store amiibo, plus if you want to replay that section five years from now, you'd need to have the figure on hand.
I know it's kind of a moot point and amiibo discussions have been done to death, but this feels like the most significant piece of content they've announced as amiibo-locked.

To be fair, this is all conjecture. For all we know the content can be unlocked without the amiibo. Hell, we don't even know if this is 100% real (but it probably is, Amazon listings tend to be accurate)

Some still are (Mostly in waves 3 & 4). But yeah, pretty much all amiibos made after that point are either easy to find, or can be bought second-hand for a fairly reasonable mark-up.

Tell that to the holes in my collection for Lucina, Robin, Ike, Villager, DeDeDe....
That new dungeon is just a nice bonus, for crying out loud. For those who buy the amiibo or the package with the game and amiibo (it is almost the same price anyway).
I don't see the problem, it would be different if they'd cut stuff from the game itself and locked it behind amiibo.
Now, that dungeon is literally just a amiibo bonus, something people always wanted.

The people who already want to buy amiibo wanted serious content locked behind them to help add value to the purchase.
People who aren't interested in owning a figurine can I think be justifiably annoyed if actual gameplay content gets locked behind one.
I mean it's not an issue for me as I want the wolf amiibo but I can totally see somebody being in the situation of wanting to play an extra dungeon and not wanting to buy what to them is an extraneous bit of plastic.
This is a really shitty move from nintendo. Saying "Oohh but it wasnt in the original game so it's ok!" is ridiculous. They might as well lock the HD graphics behind an amiibo-use too, and it'll be ok because "it wasn't in the original game".
We aren't buying the original game. We're buying this new game. And this is content in this new game locked behind a bloody piece of plastic.

Its not shitty its basically Skylanders and its what people have been asking amiibo to do since their inception.

No, we're still waiting on a game that's like Skylanders but with Amiibo.
This is just an extra dungeon whose DLC is not available on the Eshop.

Are you missing any amiibo after wave 4? I doubt it. Also, go to TRU - there are Villagers flooding the shelves right now. Mine has a freaking ton of them. I've also seen a decent number of Ikes around at various places.
Really, Lucina, Robin, Dedede and Rosalina are the only ones that are actually still pretty rare.

Before you get your panties in a twist I would wait until we get official confirmation on this "bonus dungeon" that may or may not actually be all that worth it.

That seems like a bit of a sour grapes stance, to say that the thing we might not be able to get isn't worth it anyway.

Well...it might actually not.
What if it's just 100 floor challenge battles take 2? Endless this time, or something. After 300 floors you get a crazy super shield that's not even necessary because you already have the rupee armor...or whatever.
I dunno. I couldn't play the color dungeon in Link's Awakening DX without a Game Boy Color, and when I finally got to play it, it really wasn't anything special and didn't add much to the game.
I'm totally fine with the amiibo unlocking a dungeon.

To be fair, Hyrule Warriors spoiled the shit out of all of this already :P Game is over 10 years old at this point :P (wow I feel old now)
Not quite, it's 9 years and 2 months old.
Scanning the Wolf Link amiibo opens up a new dungeon, the "Cave of Twilight". Scanning any LoZ amiibo lets you replenish hearts and arrow.
Hero Mode is back and unlocked right from the start.
You can use the Gamepad's touch screen to use the inventory without pausing the game.
I am very happy that Hero Mode continues to be a thing. It's nice for a veteran Zelda player to have a higher difficulty mode.

Maybe, but now they're in the bad position of paid-DLC that's on the disc, which generally makes people even angrier from what I've seen.
At least with the (bundled) amiibo they have their own spin on it and are able to say that you can use it in other games.
True but maybe it still requires you to download the DLC when you scan it. Plus has any of this actually been confirmed?
Honestly amiibo aren't even really rare anymore though.
Also did anyone notice that Amazon gives a 20% discount if you pre-order physical games on their site with Amazon Prime? That is crazy!
Yes it's sweet. They are finally competing with Best Buy's Gamer's Club Unlocked. Except you don't pay tax or shipping at Amazon :P

I started playing the gamecube version after playing some of the wii and the game completely messed with my head.
It's using the non-mirrored and canonically correct version of Hyrule from the Gamecube version.
