Whelp, I'm sorry, Infamy 2.0 suuucks. Ok, there's at least one good thing, the masks look rad (except the Balaclava which clips through most people's faces). So there's that.
But out of the "20 new hot infamy levels!" only 8 contain masks/patterns/materials, and the rest a flat 10% XP boost. So there's 12 "levels" that are basically filler. Also, nothing like the "skill point investment reduction for higher tier skills" that the first levels of inamy had. Someone on reddit pointed out that amusingly, the very first 5 levels of infamy are - in terms of gameplay benefit - the best out of all 25, by a mile.
Edit: I know what I said last page, but back then I didn't consider how many of these levels were a complete waste of time and, even more importantly, hadn't considered the level limit. As in you get less XP at lower levels and more XP at higher levels for the exact same heist/difficulty setup. And this makes levelling up to 75 or so super boring. A grind at best.
Yeah, I can agree on that it's a bit underwhelming. But it's not like it lessens the joy I get out of the gameplay *shrug*. And those goddamn levels will keep coming, so...
The filler vs value of the first 5 is a good point though. Would have been nice with some more feel out of your infamy gameplay-wise! I've already seen some pretty good and balanced suggestions here and there so it's not like ideas or concepts are hard to find.

don't you get a perk progression bonus for being low level?
Marty: The future, it's where you're going? Doc: That's right, twenty five years into the future. I've always dreamed on seeing the future, looking beyond my years, seeing the progress of mankind. I'll also be able to see who wins the next twenty-five world series.

If I recall correctly, it works like this: As you know, XP are only converted to Perk Points once you actually hit up the Perk Deck page in the skill menu. Yes, you get more Perk Points per single point of XP at lower levels. So what you can do is save up a ton of XP before going infamous and then converting to Perk Points, getting a lot more value out of your XP so to speak.
I guess that's not too bad, unfortunately I've got all but one Perk Deck maxed out which is missing something like 2 ranks.

It's just that I've seen so many good ideas posted that wouldn't really break the power balance. Something like letting you bring more cable ties, making marked specials stay marked for 10% longer, or something like "allows you to equip the BASIC version of any deployable without investing any skill points" (consider that you only have to invest one skill point for the basic version anyways, this would just be a nice thing in case you come to a heist prepared but they absolutely need ammo)

This is absolutely, 100%, not true. The points are converted in the background. The fancy animation is just for show.

My life is a lie!!!!
I've seen this posted before and never debunked, I never actually tested it myself. I've maxed all but one Perk Tree at V-100 before Infamy 2.0 hit so I actually had no way of checking it out.
Edit:
Oh by the way, Update 55 just hit including the Overkill and Complete Overkill DLCs!
It seems oddly convenient that not 17 hours after a thread detailing how to get refunds on Overkill/Complete Overkill packs became quite popular on reddit the packs go live, 6 days in advance, making it impossible to get refunds.
Bit of a dick move if true but ultimately unsurprising.
I don't know, is it really a dick move to hold people to their pre-order when the whole Hypetrain event was based around handing out free DLC to the community based on the number of people who pre-ordered that DLC?
Hoxton gives the best offshore payout, doesn't it (if you're not putting in hours on a particular heist to loot every last penny...)?
I'm already level ~93 but barely at 100 mil. The offshore cost goes away after infamy 5 though, no?
Is there a PA group or so for this? I remember there was one for L4D2...
It was nice to just pop into the chatroom and see if anyone was up for something.
However, only the L4D2 community ever had the genius idea of idling in the chat to group up. Now people group up into 4 heading into private vent and mumble channels and never diversify. It's why I've been pubbing for so long.

Oh, yeah, I'd like to mention that the update changed how ammo pickups work. If a pickup would not give you any ammo, it will not be consumed. Every frame it will attempt to pick it up again. For things that have extremely low ammo pickups, you're now, essentially, guaranteed at least one bullet for each pickup if your other weapon is full.
Which is to say: GL40+RPG = Love.

Minigun is rad as hell! Not OP, but a very good weapon for holding close rooms and hallways. It can mow down just about everything in a second or so at best (barring Skulldozers), but you'll be through those 750 rounds in no time, and then you'll have to consume 100% charge from an ammo bag if you want to continue. I can see this working extremely well with Bulletstorm and/or Swan Song!
The RPG on the other hand is blatantly overkill. It one-shots everything, period. Even skulldozers! You can't reload it with ammo pickups either, but you have 5 shots with bandolier aced, and that's potential for up to 5 skulldozers and everything else in the immediate vicinity. DW just got a whole lot easier!
Liking the achievements, surprisingly! They sounded like a pain in the ass, but I already got a fair share of them. The "Do Watchdogs with no skills, amcar and chimano 88 only" one was my favorite so far.
All in all, if you want one of the best weapons (or tools rather I suppose) in the game you might want to buy this.
I was going to ask about the minigun and rocket launcher, so thanks for that write up Blackbird! I got the other weapon packs that are on sale (so no butcher pack yet). The only other heists I dont have are the bomb and diamond heists. Are they worth picking up?
I'll also be up to playing with people tonight so feel free to friend and invite me.
Blackbird used to be part of some payday group that would do achievements together, ask about the details

Gonna test out Kilmer just for a little while with this mindfug build! I got this niggling feeling that I'd prolly get more usage out of the Stun Resistance skill, but I've never tried Kilmer, and the idea of the build is "run everywhere, bring up everyone" so reloading while on the go seems neat.
Would really have liked to aced Run And Gun, it feels like I walk faster than most people run, but not enough points for that; not even if I scrapped Nerves of Steel. :<
I like kilmer because it fits my preferred playstyle of rapidly moving between cover, knowing where to pull back if I take fire and just nailing headshots and medium/long ranges. Basically getting into good positions and nailing high priority targets.
Silence the rattlesnake would drop it to a 2 shot on Tasers but reduce the aggro you draw by a pretty significant amount. The angled sight is GREAT, which is why I use the standard telescopic scope since I can just iron sight it and the fancy electronic one blocks too much of the view. Alternatively, R93 for one-shots on anything even if it's silenced with a 20 bullet reduction in capacity. The Sig40 two shots tans and has good accuracy and controllability for general rapid fire use. An alternative would be to use a B9 modded at around 40 damage which is good enough to thin the numbers of mooks but a mass of tans would be rather difficult since they're three shots at ~40 damage so you'll be forced to use the rattlesnake. You could use the Deagle, but there's the rattlesnake which does everything you're trying to do with the deagle and punches through armour and shields...
Of course everything goes out the effing window on Deathwish
Rad variant!
I'm running CAR4 because it take cares of nearly everything up to the far medium range and Deagling it at distances greater than that (also loving the "Q2 railgun" feel of headshotting tans at medium distances with the red dot sight) and making it easy to get up with Pistol Messiah; Lightweight Ballistic to up the dodge chance together with Crook deck, the armor is decentish enough for most tasks on ovk difficulty.
Your point about shields is a good one though, since taking care of those on my own is one of my glaring weakpoints. The threat point about not getting shot at to begin with is also an interesting one that I've never considered...
I really think I should ace Painkillers instead of Dominator like you do though!
Edit: Holy shit, putting on the CTV for some offspec run now is like "WHY CAN'T I MOOOOVE?". :< Mobility seems like such a big factor in this game.
Oh, and a friend just sent me a pic of his discreet sidearm:
My standard loud outfit is a CAR-4 and a HE Streetsweeper. I have to hit bags every now and then, but only when there's a huge wave of shields and dozers.
I think there was a dude in a pug the other day that ran a streetsweeper and took down shields, black dozers and shit left and right, on his own. I actually suspected he was haxxing due to that and the giant explosions that came from his shooting but it just now occurred to me that there's fucking explosive ammo for shotguns! Just shows what i know about shotties, never even tried them out in this game.

So I was looking through my achievements to see what bits I still need to do things to unlock, and Tabula Rasa says "unlocks a new skill slot"
What exactly is a skill slot, because it's not a term I am familiar with.
It was that somehow, from within the derelict-horror, they had learned a way to see inside an ugly, broken thing... And take away its pain.
Warframe/Steam: NFyt
Oh! Haven't you tried them out? Bottom left, on the skill screen "switch skill/perk set". Hella useful and such an improvement from the days of old. You can have five of them, though the fifth Tabula Rasa one is by far the hardest one to unlock.
Edit: Oh, I've never paid notice to that you can tie different perk decks to different builds *facepalm*
Skill profile you can level up independently of other skill profiles. Check the bottom left of the skill screen.

From my experiences, shields are some of the worst 'common' threats since it just shuts down so much of the kill zone and flanking/rushing them can be a bit risky at times, so I just prefer to take them down with a sniper rifle. Bulldozers are a similar situation, but sniper for long ranged encounters, and medium for that matter if there's cover and a 50 damage pistol for close ranged 'ohshitohshitshitshitshit!' unloads into the face.
Typically, I'm the fastest runner in the groups I play with, which is rather obvious with all those mobility skills and I'm normally decked out in lightweight ballistics. Everyone else is wearing either the CTV or the ICTV spraying with assault rifles or shotguns. I've learnt how to fight OVK difficulty with it on so having the extra 20 armour to put it in the same range as a regular Heavy Ballistics, and dropping 10 dodge to wear 'flak' is a nice perk.
In a way, I play similar to the marksman role in Killing Floor. Everyone else is clearing the trash and I'm sitting in overwatch taking down the specials and shields before they pose a problem with a good sidearm to clear my own trash if that's what's needed.
It's also nice being able to get a 17 concealment loadout that is fully combat ready. 50 armour with the lightweight, a maximum concealment Falcon for heavy firepower and a 50 damage Sig40 for general purpose killing that's just missing the pistol red-dot sight for the extra 1 concealment. Stealthing just went tits up? No worries, I'm ready to roll!
I still don't like shields. They are a bit "binary" you could say - either they are no problem at all (HE rounds, Sniper Rifles etc etc), or a bigger threat than a tazer, cloaker or even bulldozer (in my humble opinion of course). Every time I try to flank on there is a 50/50 chance that the shield will TRACK my movements faster than I can run and I end up circling it for a few seconds before being shot to death by other units. Only the other 50/100 times do they stop at some moment, allowing me to actually get in a shot from the side/behind.

I'm pretty alright with what you just described. The bottom line is "don't go at it alone", which is the common theme with other specials as well. Unless if, as you said, one has armaments specially designed for the situation.
