There's plenty of people rhapsodizing about DA:I out there, so I'm ok with a Quick Look that's more interested in pointing out their perceived flaws with the game. Even if it involves Rorie flipping through the UI as fast as humanly possible and not understanding literally anything that's going on.
I say this as someone who is super stoked for that game, too.
The lack of patience for anything resembling pacing in first person shooters from the guys is always a bit disheartening.
I guess it's born out of reviewing games and just wanting to push through them as quickly as possible combined with a love for those old frantic gibfest pc shooters like Quake, which I have no love for at all.

There's plenty of love for Halo and that series is anything but frantic.
Jeff knows what kinds of games he likes and what he kinds he doesn't, and he's not about wasting his time.

As we were talking about before when discussing jaded video game journalists, I don't want them to pretend to like anything. If the bomb squad don't like something, I want to know about it. That's their doing their job.
The fact that they have actual Halo 1 multiplayer (i.e. the only Halo multiplayer that matters) is the most tempting thing about an Xbox One to me right now.

I own the first two Dragon Ages but I've never gotten around to playing them. I'd really like to try and play at least Origins first before I play Inquisition even if it's not necessary, but I will probably skip 2 since most people seem to have really disliked it.

My main beef was that there were two fights (one in some caves and the dragon fight) that for me at least, if I wasn't perfectly outfitted for them, were literally unbeatable. I actually had to reroll my character once to be able to get past the cave fight.
It may have been different for other people, but once I got to the dragon and it was the same thing I just threw my hands in the air and gave up

I owe it to myself to play DA2 after I finish DA:O (and assuming I like it) and make my own decision about the game. Not sure why but I actually preordered DA2 despite having never played DA:O. Call it blind faith in Bioware RPG's.
I'm actually starting to grow a little tired of Destiny and I'm trying to decide between playing either Mass Effect 3 or Dragon Age: Origins. I'm leaning towards DA:O because I feel like playing something that isn't a first/third person shooter and isn't sci-fi.

It was an older save of his, so nothing he did was exactly permanent. I've definitely goofed around like that in other games just to see what kind of dialogue I'd get.
I don't mind Rorie dismissing that party member, especially since he mentions how often he saves. He'll probably has a save to go back to when he plays through for real, right?

Yeah, I realize that he dismissed Sera on an old save that won't affect his most recent save. If it was me I would have immediately reloaded my save, but that's not how it works in a Quick Look.
Hmm, some devs are already announcing they aren't doing PAX East cause it overlaps with GDC. Hope that's not an issue with other people I might want to see at such events.

those people are wrong, 2 is a great game that has recycled environments. the story and characters are fucking awesome though

But it has some of the best inter-party writing and development a Bioware RPG has ever had.
