I...didn't get to see Norm live, maybe a decade after his run, so I never got to enjoy his stint at the desk. He has been VERY hit and miss with me. Then again, I haven't seen any of his stand ups...any recommendations?
Couldn't you say "None of it fucking matters. Nothing in that game matters at all." about pretty much every game?
Not defending Destiny, here, just looking for a little perspective.
Jeff basically says that thinking could probably apply to every "game as service" in existence; specifically it was regarding the loot grind and how every future content drop is going to invalidate the previous set of loot, so why bother spending hours and hours to obtain it?

Yeah, but what he's saying is that the compulsion to go back for new and better gear and a desire to see fights while they are 'current' broke for him. Once that happens, your desire to go back to MMOs (or any game treated as a service, as he puts it) drops off precipitously, because you could just play something where you're having fun all the time instead of working towards a point where you can have fun.

weird, I didn't see anybody using it as one since everything is directly related to GB content
Lengthy diversions into the relative qualities of the Back To The Future movies based on the fact that a guy from Giant Bomb mentioned them one time are insufficiently related to the topic of this forum and thread.

I hate to disagree with the admin of the board but come on, 4 or so quick posts about it (whilst another GB convo is happening) after Dan made his preference known, when half of the last 80 pages of this thread are us all gawking about how insane Dan is, is very much on point with this thread, and doesn't really feel like a lengthy diversion.
Every thread on this board has that kind of quick deviation at some point in it.
I'm probably breaking some rule about disagreeing with mods/admins in public (since I guess this is also off topic for the thread) so I'll drop it but it's a pretty par for the course topic evolution in threads of the forums in general.
Continuing to post off-topic content in the thread is not filling me with confidence regarding your ability to judge whether or not content is appropriately on topic. Questions and comments should be given via PM.
I think Jeff just doesn't like mmo style loot progression. He wants Destiny to be a game it isn't. It is strictly in the style of mmo games. Clear progression, with tiers of gear you use then eventually discard. It's just what the game is, and is either for you or it is not.
I could give a shit about the actual list, but I do think Wolfenstein would have fared a lot better if it had been released later in the year. Oscar style, I think some of the big highlights slipped out of their minds.
I found some of Brad's comments about humanizing BJ to be laughable right up until I actually played the game. The thing is a tonal clusterfuck, but it leaves a hell of an impression. I'm surprised Patrick didn't push harder than he did. The interview he did with the... lead designer(?) was really good, and it was clear how hyped he was about it.
I think Jeff made it pretty clear that nothing does
Tbh, this (videogames), like life, is more about the fun you have on that journey than the destination. But dammit is that journey so grindy in Destiny.

I think I may have hit my limit on Destiny. I agreed to help some folks out last night with crota's end and was just not having ANY fun. The whole thing felt like a chore.
Does a placement on an online list mean so much to you that you're still harping on about it a month later
I don't give a fuck about the list. A post was made about Jeff and Destiny, so I contributed. He said Destiny is a better game than Wolfenstein. Put me on ignore if you don't like my posts, I'm sure plenty of others have.

BttF3 isn't as good as the first two
But it's still a good movie
3 is better than 2.

2 is cool because FUTURE but 1 and 3 are far better movies.

Too bad he didn't see the light last month. Yep, it sure is better than Wolfenstein. Jeff is a mess sometimes.

Colin Quinn has become that for me today, and it's a nightmare. How anyone thinks about that guy with fondness I have no idea.

I mean it's pretty bad, but it's manageable.
