    Hmm, [chat]MD

This is the second time this has happened this week

A couple days ago it was my calf, I woke up because it had locked up in a rictus (it was literally rock hard to the touch)

And right now as I type it's my hamstring, and it is ... uncomfortable

Stretching it out is a finicky contortion game where the wrong move punishes me with more pain

I would immediately discount anything dehydration-based, given my general focus on hydration

But this is fascinating, and I'm at the loss at what could be causing it

I mean I suppose I spend 50+ hours a week on my feet, but

I refuse to believe this is just my body being a bitch

there are more efficient ways to deal with this (there is a supplement called CalMag that is downright magical for fixing it), but for a bottle of that, you could buy like 300 goddamned bananas, so sometimes nature is just the cheaper option.

Also in exciting news I should be moving at least half of my shifts every week to morning shifts instead of overnight shifts starting next week, which is p nice

I would prefer all morning shifts (and I may yet manage that if I chase one last guy out the door), but this is progress

As much as I love the party vibe of the overnight shift, and I get a lot of cleaning done at work overnight

It's not conducive to a very healthy lifestyle, long term

Eat a small snack that contains calcium and potassium, such as a glass of milk, a piece of cheese or a banana. According to the Sleep Disorders Guide, the drying effect of caffeine can throw off your balance of electrolytes, including calcium and potassium, which can lead to muscle cramps and other systemic symptoms.

Eat a banana or two - they are dirt cheap.

    Ah, thanks, you're right

I was trying to remember the last time I had difficulties with this

It was when I was running a lot, and it was the same thing

    Bananers, got it

there are more efficient ways to deal with this (there is a supplement called CalMag that is downright magical for fixing it), but for a bottle of that, you could buy like 300 goddamned bananas, so sometimes nature is just the cheaper option.

    Plus, food. Good food, even.

Sometimes I go to get breakfast and there are bananas and I'm like, "Well yeah I could eat you but also I could just not eat and instead make my coffee bigger."

    >_>

    <_<

    Why not both??

    It's a really big coffee

Eat a small snack that contains calcium and potassium, such as a glass of milk, a piece of cheese or a banana. According to the Sleep Disorders Guide, the drying effect of caffeine can throw off your balance of electrolytes, including calcium and potassium, which can lead to muscle cramps and other systemic symptoms.

    See

    I know caffeine dehydrates, right

So I drink a lot of water (given the general ambient temperature of my work space, hydration is important!)

But I don't always think about all the important things

You people and your nutrients and your not subsisting on a diet of coffee and soup

I will eat all of the bananas

And then my legs and I will have a stern conversation about communicating needs without being a dick

Arms work just as hard, legs, and you don't hear them complaining!
