I was wondering if anyone had any experience with the Apple iPod Camera Connector? See, I'm going to Japan over the summer with my Nikon D50 DSLR and I'm bringing my 30GB Video iPod along as well. I don't feel like lugging my laptop over for downloading the pictures so I thought I would just put them on my iPod. My question is:
Is it simple and easy to take the photos off of the iPod and store them on the computer later on without image quality loss or anything like that?
Do a barrel roll.

I have one of those, and yes, it really is simple.
What happens is that the images get stored inside a folder named 'DCIM'. There are the originals as well as thumbnails for viewing on the iPod. I've taken a couple of hundred pictures (RAW format) and transfered them to my iPod and then to my computer later with no loss of quality.
Things to watch out for: Battery life on the iPod. Transfering the images isn't too friendly on the battery, it's not a horrible drain though.
It can take a while to transfer images, especially if they're large, so plan accordingly.
Another note on battery life, make sure you have lots during the transfer. My friend was rewarded with corrupted pics due to power loss during a transfer to the ipod.
Now that he knows that can happen, he just makes sure the ipod is charged.

"What are you dense? Are you retarded or something? Who the hell do you think I am? I'm the goddamn Batman!"
I agree with having your ipod fully charged before transferring the pictures. It drains batteries extremely fast. The one time I seriously tried to use it, before going abroad for a year it fucked up my ipod. To the point it didn't work at all and I had to reset it. I decided to bring a laptop abroad with me, which I am currently using :-)
