Watching/listening to some youtube videos on WoD to catch up on news out of the beta. Had to laugh at this: "we've got some nasty debuffs now, guys. Real nasty. I'm talking vanilla nasty! Fucking debuffs lasting forever!"
So tangent, SpartanUI is breaking too often with unit frames and I'm getting rid of it. Anyone have a good UI package or some good unit frames to recommend?
I like ElvUI

I also use ElvUI. You don't really need anything else for appearance mods, and it does most of the setup for you. The ability to set keybinds while mousing over a button is very useful, and combined with Omen, DBM, and Recount, I have a slick raid UI that behaves as if fully customized but which took five minutes to configure.
I'm on mobile but I'm sure someone else can link a representative shot of ElvUI.

Got back to a PC sooner than expected. This isnt a shot of my actual UI, but mine is the same as this and is more or less the default ElvUI setup. Its all moveable, but I haven't felt any need to adjust the standard.
Do not use ElvUI. The author was revealed to have inserted code in the addon and some of the ones packaged with it that let him control your character for anything that isn't protected from addons. For reference /gquit is not a protected command.
they removed that; I still don't really like elv though, too hard to customize
anyway
does anybody know of an addon that will automatically post custom messages to channels or /say and stuff on spellcast or other events? I used speakeasy for a long time but the recent patch seems to have finally broken it
hold your head high soldier, it ain't over yet
that's why we call it the struggle, you're supposed to sweat

They removed it only after being a colossal asshole about how it was no big deal and was just for fun, ignoring the fact he'd done something illegal. Not against the ToS, but flat-out illegal.
Heirloom weapon to go with my cloak. Had enough groups that wiped/ended that by this evening my raid lock was right before Garry, so I just made a group myself, and got lucky.
There's no plan, there's no race to be run

Never have really seen what people hate about it so much, aside from a purely aesthetic perspective where it's kinda cluttered and ugly. But I can deal with ugly if it means I don't have to worry about new patches.
I've never messed with UI much. DBM, altaholic, Ackis recipe list, rare finder, pet tracker, map co-ordinates and streamlined health/mana bars (I forget its name), though are greatly appreciated.

I don't really see anything that makes it more special, for me anyway, than using Shadowed Unit Frames+Bartender+SexyMaps+WeakAuras and Quartz.
I've gotta ask though @Dhalphir how does it handle those boss mechanic frames I've been complaining about?
Do you mean like, corruption levels on immerseus, pride on sha of pride, etc?
It leaves them in the top center of the UI, which I like.
But you can move it.
I need to find out what wizardry it uses to move it, I honestly really don't like the bar placement. The whole... everything along the bottom in a single row thing, unless that's completely customizable. Everything I've heard of it though suggests it has butts for customizing though.
Finally got a heroic Garrosh kill for my Alliance Shaman in. Been trying for the last few days and the group finder has been absolutely atrocious on the Alliance side compared to Horde side. Declines left, right, and center. Groups I do get into are, at best, mediocre. I assume it's just bad luck but damn left me with a bad impression. That being said, I was still searching tonight and through the waves of mass declines I saw a shout for a free heroic carry from one of the guilds making mass bank since the patch came out. Jumped on that and soon had a free carry with 15+ others.
On the Cape front, I started the quest on Paladin the week of the patch (had 1 sigil of power) and ended that week needing 1 sigil of wisdom. Next week it was 10 secrets and last week it was 9. I came into this week needing 1 secret and I went through 14 of the 20 bosses before I actually got it ~.~; The other six bosses gave me a 100% drop rate on Titan Runestones. This basically is boiling down to whether they're taking the quest away on the expansion release date or doing a surprise removal during Tuesday maintenance.
I just realized again that WoW is turning 10 years old these days. I vividly remember playing in the open US beta back then. Friend of mine brought the game over to my place, thinking I would probably login a couple of times and not bother any further. I played for 2 weeks straight basically . I remember Duskwood being especially creepy when we first ventured into it. And it took me the whole two weeks to gather 1 entire Gold , which I saw as an incredible achievement. It also took me those same 2 weeks to level to Lvl 15 ...
Anyways ... back to your regularly scheduled thread.
I also wouldn't bother boosting a character on another server just to farm rares; any interesting/profitable drops won't be of use to you, and all you really need is somebody on a low pop realm to invite you over to their instance anyway.
You should boost something you're going to play, but this idea isn't a bad one.

I wouldn't say that it's got butts for customization. You do the default setup shit when you first install them, then type /ec and click the Toggle Anchors button on the window that pops up, and suddenly magic happens.
You can move everything around, and if you hover over shit, it pops up a "nudge" box that lets you move shit pixel by pixel along with a handy screen grid overlay so you can perfectly position things where you want them to be. You can even "nest" stuff so that as one thing grows, it pushes stuff up or side ways or down as needed so shit isn't overlapping and being hard to read.
Boosting to farm additional rares... well I suppose mounts and toys are connected so you could get some benefits from that. Sounds crazy ta me!
I killed Mythic Garrosh tonight! Feels good. I know he and most of the Mythic challenge is trivial but it was fun experiencing the new phase and seeing some of the madness of Mythic (Siegecrafter and Paragons were dripping with new mechanics!)
I did it all with an Openraid group though which was pretty cool. What was not cool was the group leader forgetting to throw it to Master Looter for Garrosh and having the two mounts get Ninja'd. It'd been a while since I'd seen some straight up drama like that. I didn't mind much. There was very little chance I was going to win one and mount collecting doesn't interest me too much. It was sad to see though.
openraid.us, it's a website for organising groups for stuff. Used to be really popular, but not so much any more after the rise of oQueue and Blizzard's group finder. Still pretty good though.
Man, have sub-90 dungeons just gotten swarmed with total idiots/assholes or is it just my imagination? I'm leveling my monk as a tank right now, and last night, I had not one, or two, but three dungeons in a row where everyone with a pet either has it on 'aggressive' or is just pulling mobs to spite me, while any plate DPS insists on just pulling every goddamn mob before I'm ready, I guess figuring they can tank it themselves. Why not queue as a tank then? Goddamn.
And then half the time, people are trying to skip quests/bosses whenever possible, despite the significant XP they provide.
Also, apparently I'm wearing the wrong gear? Some healer was bitching about the damage I was taking, saying I was wearing DPS gear. Is that even a thing at this level? I'm not aware of any agility leather with tanking stats on it until you're in the endgame content. I'm mostly wearing the same heirlooms I leveled my bear druid in, so I assume it should be fine.
Low-level dungeons have been full of epic fail for years now. No one cares about mechanics or class roles because they're frankly irrelevant. If you're wearing heirlooms you can probably solo most dungeons at their intended level. I've seen dps charge off on their own, healers pull because they don't think the tank's going fast enough and tanks charge through everything without even stopping to establish aggro.
Unless blizzard is willing to put in the effort to balance leveling content it will remain a speed-bump that's teaching new players all the wrong lessons.

honestly, as annoying as it is to not actualyl be tanking much in low level dungeons, its just gonna happen
at low levels healers, especially heirloom healers, are so OP that it almost doesnt matter who has aggro, nobody is gonna die
last night i went from level 15 to level 19 on a rogue with one Ragefire Chasm run.
dunno if thats shitting on your nostalgia or what..
Nah, thats fine. I just remembered a few things, is all ... And I wouldn't want to take 2 weeks for those first 15 levels again. I like how fast leveling is now.
I still haven't run any Pandarin 5 mans. I tried one, once. Got in...and everybody treated it like it was a low level dungeon. Just ran everywhere killing shit super quick. At that point I gave up on 5 mans and just went LFR. It's not much better though. Apparently I can't LFR for 10 mans or difficulties other than 'LFR'. So gimped.

If I remember correctly (at least it was that way when Pandaria came out) you have to have a certain average item lvl to go into any other difficulties than LFR.
But I don't know if they changed that requirement by now. The "everybody treats 5 mans as low lvl dungeons" was the same even in the beginning when the addon came out. I remember running through that stuff real quick, just to get the achievements and quests done, but then abandoning them for the raids.
It certainly didn't help that image that Panda 5 mans were so easy, even when the content was new.
Low level dungeons are terrible, but they've been that way for a long time. You have tanks that refuse to tank, healers that refuse to heal, hunters and warlocks with no control of their pets, and everything in between.

I mean Illidian doesn't even wear cloth for the most part.
This is crazy to me
Squishing has basically invalidated the importance of gear before level cap
There might be 20 whole stat points of difference between a level 1 item and a level 70 item.

Website + mod to hook you up with cross relm people for group activities. You then grade each other like it's Yelp or Uber.
