I made an engineering gun yesterday and got 10 skillups from it (and 25k gold).
Is that one of the things that requires 100 widgets thpugh? I know the 640 stuff gives massive skill ups, but everything else I've run into is gray already, besides the daily widget cooldown and the daily recipe currency cooldown
Yes, it cost 100 widgets, but I lucked out and got an engineering follower as one of my first, have the follower bonus rolling on my engineering shack and bought extra gears with primal spirits.
Unfortunately, in the long term, I'm going to use my Garrison to optimize my main character.
Having to build a Barn takes up a valuable large slot that my Bunker or Stable is using, and the long term benefits of which are more useful than one building to get one resource. Gear can always be upgraded in dungeons/raids. My craft lets me be a little flexible in that if I'm unlucky in finding an upgrade on a particular slot, I can always craft it myself, but it still feels arbitrary. Not really effecient.
Barn is a medium slot.

Sorry to hear that.
Super excited for the corgi. We think my dog is part corgi (he's a rescue so his breed is ?). The doggy DNA test is processing now so we should know soon.
For the MC thing is that just going to be like a holiday event with an lfg and everything? Or is that going to be raid gated and you'll need an item level and the silver from the proving grounds?
I would like some money because these are artisanal nuggets of wisdom philistine.

That's a sound strategy, and one I might emulate, since I agree that for raiders, the crafted gear is all just to make the raiding curve easier, and never to surpass it.
The best layout in the long term to is augment abilities that aren't possible, and min/max followers, due to missions eventually able to reward raid gear that's better than the current tier

They've been advertising it like a party, so I doubt the ilevel will be very high, and it'll probably be tuned no higher than 100 normal mode

Heh, even worse. I forget if my Lumber Mill or Stables was medium, but I know the other Medium I have is my Inn and theres no way thats being scrapped. The Stables are a suprisingly good source of daily money and garrison resources. And who doesn't love interacting with objects while mounted and NEVER being dazed?
I'm just worried it would be like the OG MC, which was fucking awfully boring back in the day.
And crowded. I ran MC a bunch of times, but never had any idea what the geometry of that place was like until I went back in Wrath and cleaned it out with one other person. Previously I had only seen the passages between areas in the back of a group of 40 people.

I have a feeling we'll see a pretty truncated version, since from everything I hear, there is no loot, just the helm slot item at the end that everyone gets

ha ha seriously! That's the best part about old content plundering getting to actually see shit that you were rushed past/blocked from actually looking at.

Granted, they've been super vague about the details, but from what I can gather they aren't updating it with any new mechanics or anything; just using the scaling stuffs to make it level 100.
I'm curious if it'll drop any loot though. Maybe just the level 60 stuff? Dunno.

A single piece of loot will probably seem absurdly generous for those with experience will old molten core. Bosses dropping two pieces of gear for a 40 man raid always boggled my mind while soloing.

Maybe, but many who are currently raiding don't have such experiences. And would probably end up frustrating a bunch if they put in a full-sized MC for what is supposed to be a fun little treat celebrating a milestone.

WOWhead has a guide up and they're saying the mechanics are simply scaled up (except elemental resists. No need to grab FR gear). Also, no loot other than the crown (guaranteed for completing LFR), a mount, a pet, and a transmog item.
So I'm finally in, and since all my Horde buddies no longer play and didn't take the bait with the new expansion I've decided to roll and boost on a new server with some Alliance friends. Decided on Monk since I'd yet to try it and I like to be able to fulfill all roles, and I'm just trying to decide on professions. I was originally planning to go with a gathering profession as I thought I'd need it starting from scratch, however, with this new Garrison stuff I might be able to get away with two crafting ones? I'd ideally like to go with Leather/Eng, but I don't want to screw myself over materials wise.
I'm loving the training wheels they've added in the initial quests. I was worried I'd not have a clue when I was landed with a boatload of skills/talents but it's great that they gradually introduce that stuff.

Because players have been asking for legendary transmogs since transmogging was introduced. The answer has always been "No, and probably not ever".
Making blue versions of legendaries instead of just letting players transmog the legendaries they've earned would be a pretty shitty thing to do. Not because others could have it too, I couldn't care less about that; it would be because the people who actually spent the time to earn those legendaries still couldn't use them for transmog and would have to spend more time to 'unlock' something they already earned.
The solution would be to make legendaries transmoggable, not make a different item entirely for it. I spent two years farming the second binding for Thunderfury. I'd prefer to be able to use the item I got, not have to farm up another version to use the visual of an item I spent a completely unreasonable amount of time getting.

If they just gave everyone who already has a Thunderfury the blue version in the mail without having to farm it, that'd work too. Others can get the new one, whatever, no biggie. But let the players who have it already...have it.
I don't think that Thunderfury is legitimate. Look, it still says Requires Level 60.
You can do some weird shit with code and linking items in chat, can't you? Like, you can link the original TF but do some modifiers to have it show up blue, with a socket, etc.

Yeah, I'm pretty sure it's a fake...unless they're patching it in tonight, it's not in the database, and people couldn't be linking it in-game otherwise.

Oh god it hurts laughing too hard.
Just found the Garrison mission for the chili cook-off. "The Burning Crusade."
Has you fighting Cookie. Not sure if it's bugged, but the mission has a 100% chance of winning without even slotting a follower on it.

Slap in the face for that one hunter everywhere who got the original Thunderfury.
This better not be true.
