It's not an extra 60%, because it's additive with Vital Sense, which is already 120%. If I swap an element for Hammer Shot my Soma goes from 6.6x to 8.4x, which is only a 27% increase.

Swapping Fanged Fusillade for an element is an increase of about 15 points per shot at base.

I swaped it with hammer shot so I still have corrosive, don't really know if it's worth the lose of crit damage from hammer shot but oh well.

My takeaway from this is "math is HARD", I really need to get around to putting more $ into that Serration, and a Soma Prime needs to show up already.

Anyway, the little research I just have done says it's like a 10% difference or so, so for my purposes, I think I can not worry about it for a while, as I'm just stomping mooks.

Yeah if your Serration isn't maxed out yet that should be your top priority before fiddling with this or that other thing for marginal improvements.

Nah, just get your serration up to ten or something, then focus on other mods for a while. Diminishing returns goes up to eleven with Serration, and in the double digits each upgrade gets so expensive that the elemental, multishot, and punch-through mods are gonna get you more DPS for your buck.

New hotfix is in, and it brings some Christmas-themed stuff, including a special version of the Imperator syandana, a Christmas sigil, a set of skins for Frost, Mirage, and the Glaxion, and two kubrow fur patterns, both with a set of 3 colors. Also decorations for the dojo and Liset, so Ordis doesn't feel left out.

I mentioned using one in the clan chat earlier. The one I use is called WarDroid. I have it set to enable notifications for potatoes, oxium, and a custom filter for the word "infested" which triggers from Alad V stuff. Its set to push notifications so it doesn't drain much battery and I have it make a quick loud alarm noise with vibration that really no one but me notices seeing as how rare my filters are.

I hopped into trade chat and purchased myself a Bo Prime handle.

I have now risen to rank 4 in the Arbiters of Hexis and have a shiny new Gilded Truth mod for my Burston Prime.

Combined with the Tethra mods, my Burston Prime status build is now a go. The polarities are a bit messed up since the original elemental mods had "-" polarities, but apparently everything still exactly fits.

    eun638hrtvol.jpg

I'm presently using Viral/Radiation. Usually one of the bullets in the burst is pretty much guaranteed to rip off half of the target's half with a viral proc and one of the bullets usually procs the radiation effect.

I might swap over to corrosive/blast. Near constant corrosive procs will be useful against more heavily armored foes like those encountered in Orokin Void missions...but usually premade groups negate their armor with the corrosive projection aura. The blast knockdown proc is annoying when it is something random that throws of your aim, but reliable blast procs might be useful for CC alone.

Does Viral... DO anything? After some unexpected time on a not-yet-unlocked-for-me Ceres killing Kril to I guess farm a Frost for someone (and me, what the heck) I was procing the hell out of Viral from my shiny new (at that point) Soma, but it didn't seem to do much other than a higher than normal damage pop with the icon. I know it's supposed to 50% a HP bar, but it sure didn't seem to; 3-4 full clips after fire mode doesn't seem "half".

Or are bosses "special"? I bet they're "special".

Tangentially related, we saw two Toxic Prosecutors while killing, and... How the hell did I hurt it, when it's immune to non-poison damage and my gun was packing Viral/physical only? I definitely hurt it, but seemed like for a % normal only. Wiki incorrect? I mean I've got the beacons to prove it went toes-up...

Nothing appears to happen on their health bar because maximum health side of the bar shifts at the same time that their current health shifts. If we could see the precise numbers for their health bar, then we'd see that their current health was reduced to 50%.

Notice this trinity procing Viral on herself with castanas. The changing numbers shows that her health is cut in half, but her health bar still appears full while the viral proc is active because the maximum health is shifted at the same time as her current health.

    https://www.youtube.com/watch?feature=player_embedded&v=PsP05YJWzPc

Viral can be nice against bullet sponges because that singular bullet cuts their health in half. From time to kill perspective, it is almost as if you and your allies are inflicting double damage against that target forever more.

As you can see in the Trinity vid, you can sort of proc it a second time to cut their health down to 25%....but you need to wait for the original viral proc to wear off (6 seconds). That's forever in most engagements....although I imagine that you can encounter a ridiculous enemy like that if you fought long enough in an endless defense/survival mission. It is much harder to progress that far now that Trinity no longer grants god mode.

I'm definitely going to play around with my Gilded Truth Burston prime some more. Maybe mix up the damage types a bit. Perhaps try some dual/single elemental builds instead of dual/dual. The Gilded Truth mod itself is pretty nice. When firing with a scroll wheel or with a fire macro, the weapon is pretty much automatic. The AOE burst and self heal are nice....although I don't really care for the stamina boost.

    Massive Gammacor buff.
Gammacor itself has been massively buffed so that while it's not the statusmachine that nukor is it has a lot more respectable damage.
Synoid Gammacor is now the new and improved Nukor, with equal status chance and better everything else. Except possibly that it's Magnetic damage instead of radiation.

I think the wiki is indeed incorrect. I've not seen any notes from DE on it, but I've noticed it as well. Pretty sure that they stealth-changed that at some point, and made it so you could get away with using a combined element to kill them. Certainly a change for the better, as I remember very specifically that used to not be the case, and it was pure elements or bust. That got old and annoying real fast.

That seems like the worst game design idea ever, so glad they changed it if that's the case. (even then, would still be pretty bad for a non-boss enemy type. What do you do if none of the people on the mission have it?)

There might not be a better feeling than actually being able to trade off some of your spare prime shit you don't need. I got rid of a boar barrel for a nyx prime part I was missing, and I managed to get a ton t4 cap keys from syndicate stuff and sell 28 of em, which maxed out my trades for the day.

Also, did a run on the survival yester day and picked up a high noon. We had a really easy time going to 40 minutes too. It's nice having a competent team for that kind of thing, I just wish I had more duration on my vauban vortex.

So he'd have been twice as much HP? Good christ, that's a lot of ammo. Does explain it; that was enough bullets at once that the 6s never elapsed. (Trigger control is when you hold it down real hard, right?)

Are ammo restores more important than I've been assuming, then? I assume the HP-sponginess just goes up from there.

Yeah, but once he goes all fire-mode, he's permanently vulnerable. The first "kill the backpack" phase where you knock off the hoses though, no clue why everyone else is shooting him all the time.

Sargas Ruk is the infuriating one with the tiny weak spot that keeps going away. He's the OTHER Grineer dude in full armor with a flamethrower. No no, the other other one.

The way I look at it is, if you get it to 30 and don't care for its mechanics, and can buy the weapon BP on the market, just sell it to make room. If you want to give it a second try the BP will be there and the mats aren't that rare. If it's a clantech weapon that needs a forma I'm usually a little more forgiving but I'll still sell utter garbage like the mutalist quanta, buzlok, grinlok, etc once they're 30. If it's a Prime I have to really dislike it (Reaper, Sicarus) or have a better version already (Latron).

Frames I don't sell. Until the Prime is built anyway. It means Ash, Banshee, and Trinity just kind of hang out in the armory and do nothing, but frames take too long to build for me to ever feel comfortable just ditching one. Who knows, it might get patched to be amazing?
