I see that Chariot is also coming to Steam. My wife got to play some of it on a friend's Xbox One and really enjoyed it. Seems like a fun "couch co-op" game. I'll probably pick it up so we can play together.

General consensus on Space Hulk: Ascension Edition is that if the old game was a digital board game (which it absolutely, unapologetically was, for good and/or ill), this one is definitely more of a video game, if that makes sense. The hallowed term "XCOM" is being bandied about a lot in the Steam reviews, as the game incorporates more in the way of percentage chances now, among other things. You can change the appearances and names of your Terminators now (see, again, XCOM), and everything's been expanded upon to quite a great extent.
I'm still umming and ahhing about pulling the trigger because it ain't impulse-buy cheap even with the 25% discount. But it's awfully tempting. Think I'm gonna sleep on it.
So... have gone over finances following several unexpected "things" in the last week.
Looks like Xmas isn't cancelled and I can still keep my preorder for Dragon Age: Inquisition. The belt is a bit tighter, but it's not killing me.
/happy dance/
Excellent news!
What was it that was up with your car in the end?
The alternator. Apparently it was putting out such low voltage that it was pissing off every sensor under the hood, causing the "possessed" behavior - yet somehow keeping the battery JUST charged enough to start the car, at least those few times. $500 later (fuck imports) and that was fixed. Then another $600 for tires (fuck winter). And another $350 for an airbag sensor that went poof (fuck safety).

Fucking alternators. Those things have caused no end of troubles to pretty much any car I ever had the displeasure of driving. Now I walk or take the bus or my wife drives. For other reasons. But alternators, man . . .
And yay for no cancellation of Christmas!

Full Control seems like a pretty trustworthy developer based on my experience with their last iteration of Space Hulk. I'm super happy they made that direct translation of the board game. The support they've given the game has been above and beyond what should be expected of a developer.
So yeah, I'll pick up Ascension at some point. It'll be fun to play a video gamey spin-off of the original.

Agreed on all points. Also, if they'd started with Ascension, it's doubtful they could've gone "back" to doing the direct translation of the board game. But this way around, they can do both, go from one to the other. They supported the last game incredibly well; my only real beef with it is it seems a bit technically unoptimized; it needs a bit too much graphical horsepower for what actually appears on-screen. But for all its infamous launch woes, it's a very easy game to recommend now.
Is AC unity your regular AC with performance issues? At least that's the idea I get.
Well, there's also the freemium micro-transactions.
Wait, are they real? I assumed from what little I saw of the game it was a joking sendup of freemium stuff within the animus/helix, but you can actually spend money for real?
God Ubisoft, that is the definition of having your cake and eating it.
Well, the game is set in the French Revolution, so seems fitting that somebody is eating cake.
This has nothing to do with cake. It's more like getting punched in the face AND getting punched in the groin.
Now now, don't lose your head. I'm sure it's not that bad.
Yeah, I'll just see myself out. Be sure to tip the waitstaff!
I didn't know who to quote, so you are it. I just removed all the AC games from my wish list. I'm sure they are good games in there own, but I guess if this is the way the series goes, I have other things to play. I guess it is less I refuse to use a service, and more, Meh, you don't draw me in enough to use the service over what I have. A lot of games all ready.
GOG.com is starting their Fall sale, and Mount and Blade is free for the next 48 hours or so.
I keep waiting for the chorus of "Not on Steam, not interested."
Huh. Strange.
See above, Why I may not go to a service because the game doesn't draw me, I get my free stuff all the time. I'm always checking origin/xbox gold/here for free games. I might never play them, but I sure collect free stuff. I'm also terrible at fairs. I spend more time in the "swag" pavilion than other things. I think I have a problem with free things. On that note HiT BiT tells me I have to visit GoG ever day now.
446 titles viewed so far. 61 on my wishlist (some small number already were), 94 I'm following which is "I might want on my wishlist but I don't care to decide right now and/or it's early access and might get there," 241 not interested. The remainder I skipped over so they might appear again because I was waffling too hard.
Like I don't already have enough. I should stop doing this to myself.
I went through eleven. It repopulated. I said forget that. If it gave me 11 a day, and than didn't reset for 24 hours, I might. But I'm not going to continue to click next. This thread is way better to grow my wishlist. Or shrink it as above.
Well still playing XCom. I am enjoying it so far. Can you loose by wasting to much time and not doing the next main thing? I'm keeping the panic under control so far though.
@Malakaius says that Deadpool is a good game. I mention that you can no longer buy Deadpool on steam. @Cardboard Delusions then gifts me Enslaved: Journey to the west awesome super edition because apparently he can buy that and not Deadpool.
Dudes crazy, crazy awesome!
(also really crazy. Beware the winter sale)
CorriganX on Steam and just about everywhere else.
On the third day of not Christmas my true love gave to me, two copies of Burnout, one for Origin and one for Steam.
Note: One copy is for Origin and the other is for Steam, who gets which copy from the winners selected will be completely random.
@The_Spaniard unfortunately you can't give away Origin games through Steamgifts. You and/or the winner can get suspended because their system checks if the games are redeemed on Steam.
You should be able to cancel it and make a new one with just one copy, though.

I believe it populates a list for each day, but if you missed previous days, it'll give you two. So when I'm caught up, it's just 12, but when I miss a day, it's 24 until I catch up.
First real assassination mission (remember those?) is great in AC Unity. Feels weird that it's been so long since elaborate assassinations have been a part of these games.

I'm a big target who can't (or at least shouldn't) retaliate in the foreseeable future

Is it an actual, sneaking possible, patience is key, fun when you finally take them down and then get away freely assassination? Or is it an annoying chase down or heavily guarded location you have to break into/out of?
I hated that so many assassinations weren't able to be planned and methodical.

i had seen that a while back but never new the release date or anything.
It sounds more like they just didn't have the servers for that stuff up and running yet.
I've gotten a couple in the past few days. I almost never get random invites, so a marked increase for me.

yeah this one looks interesting, and also from what I've read about it.
Two other ones that might interest others, but are going to be early access
Wickland- crazy fast arena FPS
GRAV - Sandbox, exploration, planets, aliens, pew pew

I see breaking my spending freeze happening on Friday...so it lived up to To the Moon then?

You should just post that as a steam review, 30 hours in two days? Must be a hell of a game.
I don't know, I haven't played To the Moon. But A Bird Story is completely worth the $5 or whatever they're asking for it.
That's adorable.
