JP is definitely not a CSGO pro. Day[9] likes CSGO but is far from pro. Not sure about the rest of that crew.
Summit drives me crazy, he's like the screaming incarnation of every overly competitive fratboy.
ZP has a nice stream. He usually plays a ton of HotS, but he's unsurprisingly been into Overwatch lately.

Summit was also a CS pro I believe. They talked about it a bit on stream.
One thing I know. Those guys shoot people far far better than I ever could on any FPS. The sort of intuitive shots you see Summit taking on Widow and McCree blow my mind. I'm seeing his screen and I can barely make out the figures he's hitting sometimes.
And this is why I play defensive and support classes
"Kill that bitch" came out of summits mouth a lot last night as they were getting slaughtered by pharah, along with many other stupid things. He's pretty obnoxious.
I wish that was atypical instead of totally typical "gaming talk" but alas

It always sounds more like your basic raunchy exclamations than vitriol.
Like. I would never go into an /allchat and tell someone they suck or that should suck it.
But after a particularly satisfying play I will definitely shout "Get fucked beeyatch!" at the screen. I think its just that we are seeing these streamers "other side of the screen shouts". I think as long as they aren't actually messaging people stuff there's nothing to it really.

Yeah I had to turn off a Day[9] VoD I was watching because it was just summit screeching about the game and being an asshat. That guy's a putz.

Gendered insults aren't really necessary tho (I haven't really heard you use them on vent anyway )
I usually use "SMASH THEM GO GO GO" as my catch all encouragement to do digital murder

I see your point. But I do feel that at a certain proliferation level, profanity looses a lot of its links to any original meaning and kinda just goes into a general pot in some context. Now that in itself can be seen as problem. But I can see that for a lot of folks calling someone a dick, a bitch, or a mother fucker are mostly just interchangeable words in most context.
But we could also say that there's just too much profanity in general. Which I could also understand arguments for. I'm a bit of a potty mouth myself.

I hit agree on this thinking I too am a potty mouth in games, but I chuckled at the possible connotation, "I agree, you are a potty mouth."
It's easy to see that they lose their original meaning and are interchangeable when you aren't the subject of the original meaning of the word. Not specifically saying anything about you, cptrugged, but I'd be a bit careful at assuming that all these various profanities aren't still especially negative to specific groups of people.

Yeah this is why I try to avoid words that have been used in the past (or in the case of bitch or cunt are still used today) to dehumanize people because of their gender/race/sexuality/whatever. "Goddamn fucking shitstain" also gets my message across and doesn't potentially bring up connotations of sexism, for example.
edit: It's like saying the word "rape" to mean "utterly defeated." You don't know when that will really affect someone in a bad way, so better to just not use words that might seriously impact someone negatively. You may not mean "that bitch" to come out as "women are bitches," but you also don't know that it won't come across that way to the women listening to you, so why not just use another vulgar word that won't potentially make people feel shitty? Little to no effort for you, and potentially a huge difference for others.

I really like that this game is a popular FPS that doesn't doesn't require iron sights for every gun on right click.
I though the days of alt fire on right click were gone with the days of UT. Good to see it making a comeback.

So when do waves of accounts stop getting flagged for access? I'm not sure I can continue starting every day by checking my battle.net account for tears.
I'm not averse to profanity. I engage in it willingly and often. I guess I'm more bothered by the lack of originality. I'm embarassed watching most of these streams when my girlfriend is around due to the nature of some of the it, but mostly it's just lowest common denominator and it's just grating.
If streaming is supposed to be some of these chucklefucks jobs they could at least be entertaining. Who is supporting these clownshoes of people?

30,000 people at any given time....
Given the nature of the trashfire that is twitch chat it's not all that surprising that they like screeching morons yelling slurs at people over a vidya game.
Yeah, I don't know much about summitg. His stream and style bothers me... a special mix of salty, aggrandizing and rude that rubs me the wrong way. I sort of got used to it (it helps that he's getting his ass beat) watching that. He seems to play it up. He's got a good attitude about improving his game even if he falls into generic fps gamer pitfalls otherwise.
They did double Junkrat at one point and still wrecked the streamers, so it might have been a preference thing, since his kit is otherwise solid. Not seeing Bastion (not having Bastion might be an artefact of Sketch being the god king of Tracers, who happens to be the direct counter to Bastion, and thus devauling him in their practices) & Torbjorn is slightly telling, but with 18 characters, finding out that 16 of them are competitive at a high level (and dear god the blizzard dev or internal tester teams are frighteningly good) is amazing.
Yeah! It is pretty good balance.
I am not surprised that classic turret classes are sort of shit in this game right now. The best engineer positions in TF2 are only really smashed with a coordinated Ubercharge and a team push. Many matches come down to careful assassination of medics to stop them from getting that Uber up while suppressing harassment and assault.
Now imagine that everyone has an Ubercharge. And that it doesn't stop generating when you die. That's what ultimates are. Powerful abilities that immediately change the tempo of the game. Turret based classes are all about slowing the game down. They thrive in stalemates. Stalemates that are naturally destroyed by the rise and fall of ultimate abilities. As player coordination improves and ultimates are combined more regularly these "static" characters like Bastion and Torbjorn are only going to suffer more.

There's a few Twitch chats that are okay, but they've specifically been curated to not be a hot steaming pile and have mods that are willing to time-out and ban on one strike.
Generally these ones never show up on the Featured list and so don't attract the raving pile of stupid.

Day[9]'s chat is also a bastion of civility and good chat, partially because it's subs only and partially because he and his mods (and even the other folks in chat) work pretty hard to maintain a good atmosphere.
Watching summit's team get their ass beat by the devs last night, it was basically a group of pub stars going up against a real competitive team. They didn't have any real team coordination. Summit for example would just keep running to their back lines by himself and expect to kill everybody like he's accustomed to, but instead he'd run into someone with a support backing them up (i.e. Mercy damage boost on a sniper) and have no chance. The team fight dynamics in this game are very MOBA-esque, the abilities are so strong that using the proper synergy between them is unstoppable against unorganized players.
One thing I really like in this game as compared to MOBAs is that there's no getting stronger or weaker as the game goes on. No levels means that even if you are doing badly 90% of the game, if you pull it together as a team in the end you can really take back the game with just better skill.
In a MOBA, even in something like HotS that has relatively good comeback mechanics, you still have the act of "the other team has more levels, so literally all their numbers are bigger than ours" to overcome. That's nice in some games, but it would be a detriment to this.

My interest just shot up. That sounds really good. Its something I want in more games in general. I love games like Devil May Cry in which the character's abilities may increase but DPS is left alone. This means that the same enemies you slapped around when you started are still fun to slap around.

This is sort of standard for shooters. New players are generally on roughly even footing with vets. If they have levels, they're mostly just for show. Sometimes they unlock stuff, but baring balance issues unlocked weapons are generally side grades that handle differently.
A trap is for fish: when you've got the fish, you can forget the trap. A snare is for rabbits: when you've got the rabbit, you can forget the snare. Words are for meaning: when you've got the meaning, you can forget the words.

Really would recommend watching Seagull + Clockwork + TF2 pros scrim vs the devs. I think they are better coordinated and understand team comps/characters more than anyone else who isn't a Blizz employee now (that are also streaming).

I love how all the other heroes are like big burly fighting guys who like to kill things, and Lucio is just this guy rocking out to music on his headphones while rollerskating.
