Thinking about using the Keep to make the most fucked up DA:O/DA2 save file possible.
I wonder how much of it will really matter for more than a passing comment by some random NPC.
yeah, that's kinda the problem with stuff carrying over anyhow. No matter what stuff you set up for the keep, it's some other protagonist that did everything. Your Inquisitor should theoretically be oblivious to most of the minor details of both the Warden's and Hawke's journeys, aside from Varric style legends.

Well, I mean, the events of the first DA are literally world history at this point (ten+ years after the Blight), and at the very least Hawke's story is well known, although the details are muddled. Plus, with Varric there we're bound to hear about it.

Watching the first few hours of gameplay on multiple streams, re. Cassandra's portrayal:
I feel like her characterization's a little inconsistent. Sometimes she seems to resemble the tough, no-nonsense, doesn't know how to communicate with non-soldiers badass from DA2, but sometimes she seems unusually helpful, friendly, and compassionate. Maybe that's the actual characterization they're going for, and I just haven't gotten that far in the game to put it together, but I also wonder if this is an effect of having her be the tutorial character. She's all bottom-right on the dialogue wheel, except when she has to be top-right for tutorial/plot reasons.

I probably wouldn't read too much into it at this point. If it's nothing but dramatic swings one way or the other the whole game, then maybe there is a problem.
From the way I perceived it, she is a softie who plays the role of a hardass because of her job/dedication to the Chantry. The way you described her actions doesn't seem out of place to me, but I guess we'll know soon enough.

She's actually pretty nice beneath all that bluster. Even in the DA2 framing story she slowly warms up to Hawke.
Hm. I think I've finished my Keep settings... and now I want to go revise it all. In my original play, my City Elf sided with the Mages and Hawke sided with her sister, Bethany. But now I'm wondering if it makes more sense for my bloodthirsty reavers to side with the Templars.
The best option would be to have a setting where you can select Voiced PC + Dialogue Wheel or Silent PC + Full Sentences. Then we all get what we want and are happy.
Except half the argument against voiced PCs is that it results in a downscoping on the number/reactivity of dialogue lines; Hell, I think drawing the line at PCs isn't ambitious enough. More games should go the fallout route of only selected lines of only selected NPCs having only a partial line, with most random characters not even having a proper model
So, uh, real talk? Unless I can pull a Rannoch, my Inquisitor is siding with the Templars. Why? Which is more useful when fighting demons, an army trained to kill demons and negate magic, or a group of magic users incredibly susceptible to demons?

Exactly.
Unless they significantly buffed templar trees? mages

Aren't most templars hooked on Lyrium? So uhh your army of demon killers are junkies bro.
Hey, junkies have accomplished a lot. Wrote articles for the Rolling Stone, invented peanut butter Oreos, and destroyed an underwater city founded by objectivism.
Not sure that demonic possession is going to be as important an issue as it was in Kirkwall, considering demons can just walk into the physical world now.
Still don't need my troops turning into Abominations in the middle of the fight. Ideally, both would be useful, but I'm not sure if another Rannoch solution can be squeezed out of this. Too many factions at play, too little time.

I think the lesson of Kirkwall was that all mages are demonic possessions waiting to happen.
If not for the hero anders and the champion of kirkwall, who knows how many of the demons might have escaped?
Cullen's stern, but fair. He seems alright, don't mind having him at my back. Hell, he helped me against Meredith.
I still don't see it.
He advocates the rite of annulment in anger/fear/paranoia in DAO, talks about how mages should be wiped off thedas, epilogue talks about how he runs his position with fear and approves any suggestion Hawke has that results in "kill them all" during Best Served Cold in Dragon Age 2.
I think people give him a lil too much credit. His PTSD from the Ferelden circle has impaired his judgement.
I just want wardens, those guys are the hardest core and are basically a lit fuse knowing they are running out of time from the jump. They fight till they are burger.
I would like some money because these are artisanal nuggets of wisdom philistine.

Irrc, the desire demon in the tower uses your form to torment Cullen while he's imprisoned, so when you get there, he thinks it's still demons.
oh god this is the new shit flashbacks.
i actually want the game less now
But I also didn't mind the song.

Aveline married a city guard, not a Templar.
Edit: But the one nice Templar guy has an apostate daughter, sooo.
Her first marriage was to a templar, the guy she shanked before he became blighted. And they had no children so chaste...
